We are looking for an energetic Immigration Adviser to provide maternity cover for a project working with Crisis delivering immigration advice for people experiencing homelessness.

Praxis is a dynamic, award-winning human rights charity supporting migrants in crisis or at- risk, ensuring that their essential human needs are met and that they can overcome the barriers they face. We provide legal advice, housing projects and a range of welfare support including group work. We build community, challenge exclusion and discrimination, influence policy, improve services and inspire solidarity with migrants. 

This project is delivered in partnership with Crisis, one of the UKs leading homelessness charities. Supported by a project supervisor, you will be responsible for the provision of high-quality immigration advice and casework for people accessing Crisis’ Skylight centre on Commercial Street. The service is delivered through a mixture of channels including face-to-face, telephone and digital appointments. There will be an expectation to spend some time both in situ at the Skylight centre and working from Praxis’ office in Bethnal Green. 

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants at risk (including EU migrants). The post holder will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by homeless migrants with NRPF and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholders.

Purpose of the Trusts Fundraising Officer role:

The Trusts Fundraising Officer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a rolling programme of prospect identification, research and applications for funding from Trusts and Foundations.

You will be joining our fantastic fundraising team who keep the organisation surviving and thriving by bringing in funding from individual donors and fundraisers, high profile corporate partners, or charitable trusts and foundations, and everything in between. This role will be working with our Senior Trusts and Statutory Officer, responsible for the vital programme of identifying, researching and nurturing new prospects, specifically Trusts, Foundations and Statutory supporters. 

Key duties and responsibilities of the Trusts Fundraising Officer:

• Prepare core and restricted funding applications to Trusts and Foundations, up to the value £100k, contributing to the team’s annual fundraising targets.
• Prepare and submit reports and develop stewardship journeys for funders. 
• Research potential funders to maintain the funding pipeline.
• Maintain records on all reporting and re-application deadlines, working closely with Finance and project teams as required.

What we are looking for in our Trusts Fundraising Officer:

• Someone with experience of, or enthusiasm to develop, application-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, as well as drive, initiative and determination.
• Diligent with details, skilled at researching prospects and able to work to tight timescales.
• We value candidates with transferable skills for example from an administration, research or communications background with strong writing abilities.
• Fundraising experience would be beneficial, but not essential.

The Housing Income Manager is Refuge’s expert lead and responsible for all elements of housing income management for our accommodation, including the policy framework, service charge calculation and rent setting, housing income budgets, training and management of rent collection, reporting and ensuring that all the processes meet the high standards set by the organisation and regulations in place.

About this role

YCDT is seeking an experienced and fun individual, passionate about making a difference to the future lives of Young Carers.  The Service Manager has oversight of the long-term mentoring programme.  You will support the development of our young carers and provide supervision and support to our team of volunteer Development Mentors (DMs) in their work.

It is vital that the Service Manager builds and maintains strong partnerships with Young Carer and community organisations.  You will be part of a small team of 7 part time staff. As part of YCDT’s management team you will work closely with our Charity Manager and CEO. There are approximately 30 committed and enthusiastic DMs, grouped into 7 geographic Supervision Hubs.

Children from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds are significantly overrepresented at all stages in the youth justice system. Black children are four times as likely to be arrested as White children. And, as of May 2019, more than half of the children in youth custody were from Black, Asian or other minority backgrounds. Clearly, there is a problem – in the criminal justice system and our wider society.

The Youth Endowment Fund’s mission is to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. Because of this disproportionality, it’s clear that if we don’t challenge the role that racism plays in young people’s experiences of youth justice, education and access to employment and mental health support, we won’t be able to make the difference we’re here to bring about. This means that – both as an employer and a What Works Centre – we need to make sure that we are considering the impact on children from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds in our decision-making.

The role of the Race Equity Associate 

At the Youth Endowment Fund, we’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

To make the most difference over the ten years of our endowment, we’ve selected a set of sectors where we’ll concentrate our funding and learning. In each area, we’ll review the evidence to see where the gaps are, we’ll invest in projects, research and evaluators to find out what does and doesn’t work, and we’ll build coalitions and partnerships to put what we learn into action.

Within these sectors, we want to partner with a Race Equity Associate, with deep knowledge and understanding of the area. They will work alongside us as we assess the current evidence, engage stakeholders and identify the best opportunities for change. They will help us to understand the specific role racism plays in our sectors and what it looks like to design racially sensitive and equitable interventions to support children and young people. In doing so, they will give us the best chance at addressing racial disproportionality in the criminal justice system and understanding what works for children from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds. 

But we also know that we cannot address issues of racism and disproportionality as a funder without also looking inward, to our own practices and culture as an organisation. Therefore, we’re also work with Race Equity Associates with specific expertise and depth of experience in driving race equity work within organisations. They will help us to fulfil our race equity commitments by looking at specific topics such as the way we retain and train our team.  

The role of a Race Equity Associate will typically involve: 

Leading a training session with our team on the role racism plays in your area of expertise, sharing from your experience and knowledge on the issue. 

Partnering with the internal team tasked with understanding the area, identifying the opportunities for change and designing funding rounds to generate evidence. You’ll review and provide feedback and challenge on the materials we develop, serving as a critical friend and issue area expert. 

Making sure we’re talking to a broad range of stakeholders to help inform our understanding of racism within the area of focus.

Helping our team to work through issues or questions as they arise throughout the entire lifecycle of a funding round or internal project.

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for Race Equity Associates with expertise and experience in:

Inclusive workplace practices, including onboarding, retention, training and culture building.

Applicants can be freelancers, sole contractors or working as part of organisations, provided they can commit to a minimum involvement of five days on any focus area or project they are commissioned to support. For this work, YEF will compensate Race Equity Associates at a rate of £650 per day.

A significant degree of expertise in the role race and disproportionality plays in one of YEF’s sectors. For example, this could look like someone who has worked previously to address racial disproportionality in the care system.

Operational

Accountable for leading all activities within Community Programmes portfolio including, but is not limited to:

- To lead, manage and develop Community Programmes across Brent and Westminster
- Develop and maintain excellent partnership working relationships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations across Wandsworth.
- To be able to implement change as required to ensure business is maintained and developed
- Oversee and line manage the Creative Arts Coordinator to ensure service delivery is in line with quality and service expectations and requirements

- To build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including service users, staff volunteers, commissioners and funders

About this role
As Deputy Head of Philanthropy (Trusts and Foundations), you’ll:

• motivate and empower the Trusts and Foundations team to deliver on ambitious targets, while also maintaining a small personal pipeline of six or seven figure prospects
• take a relationship-led cultivation approach to Trusts and Foundations fundraising, building strong relationships with trustees
• develop and implement a new strategy to grow statutory and institutional fundraising at Dogs Trust, while collaborating with key internal stakeholders to deliver effective proposition development
• develop international strategies, growing income for our international programmes from a number of global animal welfare and health funders
• work closely with stakeholders across the charity to develop new cases for support and bespoke funding opportunities,
• collaborate with other Deputy Heads across Philanthropy, building a solid peer group who approach challenges as a team.

About you
To be successful in this role, you’ll need be an experienced leader, with the ability to coach and support the Trusts and Foundation teams and approach problems pragmatically. We’re looking for a candidate with experience of working with international and global trusts, as we expand our fundraising in this area. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to influence and build relationships with key external stakeholders. Some experience of strategy development and implementation is also crucial for this role. Above all, a commitment to the aims and objects of Dogs Trust is essential.

External strategic communications 

Purpose: To enhance UKCF's communications, brand and external influence in order to engage and inspire key audiences, thereby supporting the effectiveness of our business development, grant programmes and strategic delivery. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Set out the strategic communications direction. You will play a crucial role in delivering our priorities of raising the profile of community foundations, promoting philanthropy and advocating on behalf of UK communities.

• Understand the most effective ways to influence within the context we work and resources available – being flexible and responsive to a rapidly changing environment and understanding the changing needs of our partners.

• Develop and oversee a cohesive and integrated strategic communications strategy and framework. 

• Elevate and enhance our brand, ensuring clear, consistent and impactful messaging that resonates with our diverse audiences and drives our organisational priorities. 

• Work closely with the interim Co-CEOs and Senior Management Team to develop and deliver the organisation’s external affairs strategy to extend our influence, public profile and achieve our policy and public affairs objectives.

Internal strategic communications 

Key responsibilities: 

• Line management of the Communications and Marketing Manager, as well as any other staff or contractors that are recruited on a temporary or permanent basis. 

• Manage UKCF’s communication and marketing budget, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and impact of investment. 

• Support a culture of continuous learning across UKCF, building confidence and skills in the team to effectively communicate our messages on external channels and to our members. 

• Contribute to the successful delivery of key events including biannual conferences, webinars and in-person policy and learning events, supporting the work of our Membership Team and Senior Management Team to engage our network and funders.

The Role

SafeLives has an unparalleled track record of using evidence and research to effect national change, with research and analysis being fundamental to helping SafeLives achieve its strategy. This information is used to set our policy messages, define our strategy, design our services and evidence the impact of the work we have done.

In April 2021, the Domestic Abuse Act received Royal Assent. The Act introduces a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Notice (DAPN) to provide immediate protection following a domestic abuse incident and a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) to provide flexible, longer-term protection for victims. DAPOs can impose both prohibitions and positive requirements on perpetrators. Positive requirements can be in the form of interventions aimed at reducing and managing risk, meeting the needs of an individual (for the factors that are not the causation of abuse but impact on risk, e.g. mental ill health and substance misuse) and behaviour change interventions.

The Drive Partnership has been commissioned by the Home Office to design a triage model that will assess individuals for the suitability of these interventions; this triage model will be rolled out in the pilot sites, which are going live in May 2024, and will be tested and evaluated in order to prepare for national roll out in 2026.

The Research Analyst will be responsible for working with and supporting the Senior Research Analyst and Research Managers to develop and deliver rigorous and sector-leading data, analysis and recommendations across our work alongside the Drive Partnership.

This role is an exciting opportunity to help transform the response to domestic abuse by ensuring the sector is evidence-led. SafeLives holds the largest datasets on victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse nationally, which you will use to inform our ambitious policy and research agenda. Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions within the North London area.
