JOB PURPOSE

UK for UNHCR is looking for an ambitious and proactive fundraiser to work in a Senior Philanthropy Officer role for up to one year’s maternity cover. This role will manage its own portfolio of low to mid-level trusts and foundations and will play a key role in supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager on the engagement and stewardship of our high-level partnerships, as well as supporting on the delivery of a high-quality supporter experience.  

You will be joining the charity at an exciting moment, becoming part of a small but high performing team with big ambitions. This role is integral to the development of our Trusts and Foundations Programme, which has grown significantly in recent years.  

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and determined and who enjoys working collaboratively within and across teams, building relationships and inspiring people to support UNHCR’s lifesaving work. You’ll have strong problem solving and communication skills, both written and oral.  You’ll be passionate about the refugee cause and UK for UNHCR’s role in supporting refugees around the globe. 

Working with our international colleagues, this role will gather information for reports, donor communications and proposals on UNHCR’s key areas of work. 

This role will also work across the team to support on growing the trusts and foundations pipeline, through identifying and then building relationships with trusts and foundations aligned with our cause.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Work as part of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Team (PPH) to develop new opportunities with trusts and foundations in line with UK for UNHCR’s fundraising strategy. This will include supporting and leading initiatives to approach potential supporters. 
• Support the development and management of a robust trusts & foundations pipeline and a calendar of opportunities for grant submissions to trusts and foundations. 
• Undertake detailed prospect research and identify the most appropriate funding and fundraising opportunities for trusts and foundations. 
• Support the development of high-quality concept notes, proposals, reports, and other fundraising products. 
• Support, and at times lead, on cultivation and stewardship events across the PPH team. This could be anything from a webinar to an in-person event for 50+ people. 
• Support and lead on the development and execution of strong cultivation and stewardship plans, taking responsibility for keeping these updated and reviewed. 
• Help establish an appropriate strategic and tactical response to trust and foundation prospects and supporters in the event of humanitarian emergencies. 
• Maintain the Salesforce database with up-to-date and accurate information on trust and foundation prospects and partners. 
• Help to raise awareness of, and build vital support for, UK for UNHCR’s unique position to protect refugees and displaced people. 
• Work within UK for UNHCR’s due diligence and GDPR policies and processes. 
• Ensure accurate income recording and earmarking procedures to facilitate financial reporting. 
• Support the PPH team in other activities as requested.

Essential Experience

• Experience of working in a fundraising capacity with an NGO or INGO to identify, approach, secure and steward trusts & foundations and/or major donors. 
• Experience of devising and delivering impactful and engaging proposals and communications to generate income and build relationships. 
• Experience of working across a busy team and managing a busy workload. 

 
Essential Skills/Knowledge

• Ability to analyse reports and communicate complex themes and subjects to a variety of audiences, written and verbal.

Growing Hope Senior Finance Officer
Location: Hybrid working (2-3 days office based in King’s Cross Mon, Thurs and possibly Fri)
Hours: 37.5 (full time)

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus. Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up our fourth and fifth clinics in Gateshead and Redbridge. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings in 2023. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 1,000 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional with great attention to detail, strong analytical skills and an ability to work in a fast pace environment. The role will report to the Director of Operations and will involve running book keeping, reporting and banking functions as well as overseeing payroll. This role supports the national Growing Hope charity and each of the local charities’ (clinics) accounting for around £1 million collectively each year. You will be joining a small and dedicated national team of eleven.

Job Purpose
Growing Hope requires an experienced finance professional (with part qualifications) who will be responsible for the delivery of internal financial management systems and controls, and for maintaining accurate financial management records, including managing the process of producing annual accounts. This role covers both the national charity and the local Growing Hope charities which are growing across the UK. The national charity raises around £600,000 per year and the local charities around £50,000-£100,000. The Senior Finance Officer will support the charities with day to day book keeping, raising invoices, paying expenses, scheduling payroll payments and running management reports and accounts. This job role also involves advising on budgets for fundraising project proposals and working closely with the supporter engagement team. This individual will be able to communicate effectively with all the relevant parties including the national Growing Hope team, the local Clinic Managers, and local finance trustees who have overall governance of each charity’s finances.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow.

Book keeping & Finance processes

• Processing of accounts using Quickbooks for each Growing Hope charity in a timely manner (currently 6 small charities)
• Paying expenses and invoices as and when these are approved.
• Liaising with payroll provider and scheduling salary payments for all staff each month.
• Invoicing local Growing Hope charities each month for book keeping, payroll and quickbooks.
• Running gift aid claims and supporting volunteers to run this across the Growing Hope charities.
• Liaising with local clinics and churches to agree payment schedules and giving for each financial year.
• Participate actively in prayer and worship times as part of the team. This includes praying, coaching and supporting Clinic Managers to understand their budgets and financial processes.

Fundraising

• Contributing to the fundraising strategy and development of budgets for fundraising projects.
• Contributing to the wider teams fundraising efforts through networking, and involvement in fundraising and community events.

Reporting

• Updating monthly forecast vs. budget spreadsheets for each local charity and the national charity.
• Leading monthly budget reporting meetings for Senior Leadership Team and Chair of Trustees, using analytical skills to highlight patterns or potential risks or problems arising.
• Create annual reports in partnership with the Clinic Managers and Finance trustee for each local charity and ensure these are independently examined by recruiting and liaising with volunteer accountants.

Payroll

• Liaising with the payroll provider to run payroll for all staff across the Growing Hope charities each month.
• Setting up and running pension payments each month.
• Paying NI payments each month.

General administration

• Set up bank accounts and signatories for local Growing Hope charities, support the local trustees with ensuring all financial processes are set up and working (e.g. bank account, Stripe, Quickbooks, payroll, pensions, HMRC)
• Sending letters and emails as required.
• Maintain data protection and confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s information governance policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL

• Occupational Requirement - This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010.
• ATT certifications (or equivalent)
• At least three years experience as a finance professional

AFRIL is AQS accredited with file reviews from Southwark Law Centre. We have a community PAP project with Deighton Pierce Glynn Solicitors and expect all caseworkers to complete this legal training. We have an immigration partnership with Southwark Law Centre and are working towards OISC registration within the year. Hounslow Young People is a Supported Accommodation Service for young people and young parents aged 16-25. The Service encompasses a mix of units across six sites supporting 57 vulnerable young people and 19 teen parents.

We are recruiting a Waking Night Support Worker to join our dynamic service and team. In the role of Waking Night Support Worker individuals will ensure continued support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff with particular focus on safety of vulnerable young people.

About the Role:

The Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person-centred risk assessments, support plans, and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people.

Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. Furthermore they will actively seek out ways to work with the team and stakeholders to improve the experience of young people in the service.

The role requires individuals to work on a rota pattern of 21:30 - 07:30, including some weekend working.

About the role:

The Digital Communications Manager is a crucial role in the Brand and Marketing Team engaging a wide range of audiences in our mission to make transport accessible for disabled people.

You will be responsible for developing plans to grow and improve our digital channels and digital marketing approach, as well as getting stuck in with content development and the day-to-day running of our website and social media channels. You will manage and be supported by a small team including a Brand and Marketing Executive, Case Study Executive and agency/freelance support as needed.

What you will be doing:

• Manage a small digital and content team and be the overall digital communications expert for the Communications team.

We're hiring a specialist women’s refuge, Service Manager. Someone who really cares about the rights of women and their children to join our new service in West London. This role is an opportunity for a leader to support and manage a refuge accommodation for women and children surviving domestic abuse many of whom are living with trauma . 
The service provides a much needed safe space and support for women to feel empowered in their healing journey and to feel secure in their independence, strength and skill. The successful candidate will support in leading the service which spans over 3 buildings and will develop their team which consists of support mentors and children and family workers. We are seeking a passionate, driven and motivated colleague to lead this service in a trauma informed and inclusive way. 

You will the have overall responsibility of your service and team, aiming to deliver a high quality, trauma informed service to your residents. Your role is to ensure full contract and regulatory compliance whilst being a role model/leader for your team to achieve KPI's and other requirements as per the service needs.

Shift/Working pattern: 37.5 hours a week in service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, you may also be required to work outside these hours as per the service requirements and needs. You will also take part in our on call service.

Other

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• It is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation is recruiting a Project Coordinator to support the delivery of our youth engagement and empowerment programmes working across Greater Manchester, with our regional office based in Salford. The Rio Ferdinand Foundation is recruiting a Project Coordinator to support the delivery of our youth engagement and empowerment programmes working across Greater Manchester, with our regional office based in Salford. The central focus of the role includes the implementation and delivery of; 

• Supporting targeted youth engagement and outreach programmes using sports, arts, and media to build relationships with young people aged 10-25 from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.

• Staff and support specific mental health and wellbeing workshops for cohorts of young people aged 10-25 from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.

KEY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (not in priority order) 

• Recruit, organize and lead creative workshops and engagement activities (involving sports, arts, and media) with existing/new cohorts of young people from targeted marginalized communities across Greater Manchester.

• Devise appropriate and sensitive action plans to support young people through each stage of their developmental journey including 1-2-1 meetings, focused groups, emails/phone calls, home visits etc.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

• Have at least two years’ experience of leading/delivering creative youth work programmes across multiple/complex communities.

• Clearly demonstrate an ability to build trusting relationships and deliver high quality activities for young people. 

• Have excellent knowledge in relation to social issues and challenges faced by young people and communities across Greater Manchester.

• Have experience of engaging and mentoring young people from a variety of complex backgrounds and diverse communities.

• Have an understanding of the sport for development and youth work sectors. 

• Have experience in facilitation and monitoring of youth projects and demonstrate an understanding and experience of managing information using computer software/systems.

• Have an understanding of and a demonstrable commitment to promoting principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion both in the workplace and in the wider community. 

• An ability to work well with others and support sessional staff and volunteers. 

• Excellent communication skills, able to use initiative and support multiple projects.

• Proactive, resilient, and able to work well within a close-knit team. 

• Express a willingness to work out of office hours including weekends, evenings and some bank holidays if needed.

• Ability and experience of delivering training courses to young people (e.g., CSLA, OCN Leadership etc.) or an interest/willingness to complete in-house training which would upskill you do so. 

• PC literate using MS Office (word, excel, power point, outlook) 

• Car driver and clean drivers’ license
