The Director of Fundraising and Communiations will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Foundation’s 2023 – 2026 Ready for Business organisational strategy and our ambition to reach one million women entrepreneurs by 2030, significantly scaling income generation and building the Foundation’s profile. The postholder will be a member of the Foundation’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), along with the CEO, COO, Director of Programmes and Impact, and Finance Director.

We are seeking an individual who will excel at bringing creative and ambitious growth plans to life and has strong leadership and communications skills. The Director of Fundraising and Communications will have significant multi-income stream experience and will lead the development of a new income generation strategy to drive fundraising activities across philanthropic donors, corporates, family offices, foundations and institutional funding, maximising ROI and creating a sustainable organisation. You will continue to build the profile of the Foundation with key audiences, managing the Foundation’s brand and reputation and positioning the organisation as global experts in women’s entrepreneurship.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for executing Pro Bono Economics’ (PBE) fundraising strategy under the Director of Development’s guidance. This role focuses on increasing and diversifying income through building relationships with trusts, foundations, corporates, and high-net-worth individuals, while also securing funding for specific research projects in collaboration with the research team. The role includes managing donor engagement, overseeing grant applications, leading a small team, and ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations, all while maintaining operational oversight of the fundraising department.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Fundraising strategy implementation: Deliver PBE’s multi-year fundraising strategy to expand and diversify income from major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners and research institutions
• New business development: Identify and secure new funding opportunities, focusing on building sustainable partnerships.
• Research support: Collaborate with the research team to identify funding for specific research projects and submit tailored grant proposals.
• Donor engagement: Steward relationships with existing donors, ensuring renewals and funding upgrades.
• Bid writing & reports: Develop and write compelling grant applications, case for support documents and reports which communicate PBE’s services and research programmes.
• Departmental leadership: Support the Director of Development in managing budgets, resources, and a fundraising officer, ensuring team efficiency and future planning.
• Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to fundraising regulations and policies, including GDPR and safeguarding.

About you

Report directly to the Director of Development, the Head of Fundraising will have the following experience and skills.

Experience

• You have senior fundraising experience across a broad mix of income streams, a talent for building partnerships, bid writing and a strategic mindset.
• Experience working with research-driven organisations is a plus, as is familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce.
• You are happy to roll up your sleeves and spend as much time focused on immediate management and income priorities as you are on strategy and ideation.
• Will be suited to a senior fundraiser looking for their first Heads of role or someone who has already taken that step.
• A strong commitment to PBE’s internal culture of inquisitiveness, generosity, honesty and respect.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.

The young people we support in this service are amazing, they are courageous, determined, and brave. These young people have often survived very difficult experiences and have often experienced high levels of violence in their lives. This can mean at times we have to work harder to secure their trust and build relationships with them. The experiences these young people have had in their lives means they can feel frustrated, angry, and upset. We need someone committed to showing care, respect, patience and understanding, someone who understands that challenging behaviour can be a demonstration of the impact of multiple traumas. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months

Purpose of the Job
The Dad Matters coordinators deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the First 1001 Days. They support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways.

The post holder will:

• Build on the Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one to one and group situations.
• Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads.
• Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period
• Raise awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues 
• Develop the Dad Matters volunteer role
• Develop close links with other health and voluntary agencies
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers through outreach and focus groups

Main Responsibilities

Support to Dads

The post holder will provide individual and group support to dads during the perinatal period.  This will involve the following: 

• Meeting dads at ante-natal clinics
• Facilitating or co-facilitating ante-natal Dad Chats in person and online
• Supporting the developments of support offered to dads with children on NICU and those with partners in receipt of care from Perinatal Mental Health teams, Adult Mental Health, IAPT and Parent Infant Mental Health teams
• Signposting and supporting access to other services as appropriate
• Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
• Ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of work
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers in order to ensure that all resources are targeted appropriately

Promotion & Awareness Raising:

• Maintain up-to-date information for dads and make this available through the Dad Matters website and a range of social media

• Engage dads through social media, self-referral and email.
• Ensure the integrity of the Dad Matters Brand when engaging dads and professionals.

Recruiting & Managing Volunteers – this will involve:

• Promoting, developing and delivering volunteer recruitment campaigns
• Recruiting, selecting and preparing suitable volunteers

• Arranging and co-ordinating volunteer activity in person and online
• Providing support and supervision for volunteers engaged in working with dads

• To provide further training for Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest home visiting volunteers as appropriate

Monitoring & Evaluation:

• Support the evaluation of the impact of Dad Matters
• Ensure accurate and relevant record keeping and data collection

Working in Partnership

• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key health partners, including those from Parent Infant Mental Health teams, Midwifery, IAPT, Perinatal Teams,  Adult Mental Health, Health Visiting and other VCSE groups
• Networking appropriately within the community
• Delivering/co-delivering training to multi-agency colleagues as appropriate
