The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) is an organisation focused on the promotion of gastroenterology and hepatology within the United Kingdom. Main Job Focus

• The COO ensures that all operational governance, finance and HR matters of the BSG are dealt with effectively and to the highest standard.
• Ensure BSG is compliant with the requirements of the Charity Commission
• Ensure digital development of BSG reflect the strategic objectives of the organisation

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with CEO and Senior Management team to develop and implement the charity’s strategy 
• Work closely with the Board of Trustees, Executive and Council preparing agendas and papers for meetings, attending the meetings and taking Minutes
• Ensure all aspects of the Society’s Governance are managed effectively
• Companies House/Charity Commission filing
• Management of the HR function to include administration using Breath HR, induction of new staff, BSG Officers and Trustees
• Management of the election process for committee members
• Ensure governance of the charity is dealt with effectively including all policies and procedures implementing change where necessary
• Be the Data Protection Officer for the charity ensuring that the charity is GDPR compliant
• Preparation and management of budgets with the CEO
• Prepare tender documents and lead process for external providers of services
• With the CEO, drive a culture of continuous improvement in all support areas of the charity 
• Deputise for the CEO when required
• Attend and support the BSG annual conference which takes place over four days in June each year.
• Involved in higher committees and relevant working groups of the Society, supporting their development and implementation of key initiatives

What you’ll do:

• Deliver a decision support service to managers and directors to deliver improved financial performance outcomes for the RCR.
• Ensure that partners use effective financial controls over their spend and income conforming to RCR’s policies and to optimise RCR’s outcomes.
• Support the partners in the production of outturn forecasts, budgets and multiyear financial plans that conform to RCR’s financial needs.
• Provide effective analytical insight and advice to partners and Head of Finance to maximise the return on investment and support for implementing change to improve outcomes.
• Supporting RCR’s regular financial and non-financial performance reporting with analytical advice, insight and commentaries.
• Support the wider finance team in delivering timely management information
• Help with system development within the finance team such as upgrades
• Cover for the Head of finance in their absence.

What you’ll need:

• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
• Experience of financial business partnering role or accounting role in comparable organisation.
• Excellent commercial skills, including the ability to lead or support negotiations and to influence and motivate others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical/non-professional audiences.
• An enquiring and analytical mindset with the ability to spot risks, to dig further to follow up on problems and work through issues to offer practical solutions.

· A dynamic and experienced individual, with proven experience in a senior financial management role, ideally within the charity sector

· Proficient in preparing, analysing and presenting financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement).

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain financial processes to non-financial staff.

· Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making

As Exams Assistant you will support the day to day running of the examinations with a particular focus on question bank management. You will be working with the Examinations Team and examiners across all specialties. This will include supporting examiner panels to organise and run question writing sessions and ensuring that question banks remain up to date.

You will also have a number of other examination-related duties, including – but not limited to – processing applications, invigilating at examination and collating examination results.

Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT) is led by our CEO who is supported by a Senior Leadership Team comprising this role alongside the Director of Research, Information & Support, and Director of Finance & Resources. An Operational Management Group is comprised of function managers reporting to SLT, and responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The Corporate & Public Engagement team in the Communications Directorate promotes corporate interest in the College and engages future medics and scientists in careers in pathology, particularly through our awareness activities, including National Pathology Week.

The main purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Corporate & Public Engagement Manager. This would involve booking meetings, drafting correspondence and tracking our budget. You will help to organise events and be responsible for collecting, collating, analysing and presenting feedback from them so we can introduce improvements. You will update our website, and post content on our social media channels to engage our audiences.

The College is a professional membership organisation dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of pathology. There are currently approximately 12,000 members, all of whom are pathologists based in hospitals, universities and laboratories in the UK and overseas. The College’s main tasks are to set and maintain training standards for doctors and scientists, to advice on the appointment of consultant pathologists, to ensure the membership is kept up to date with current practice through the continuing professional development scheme, and to promote the latest developments in pathology by holding scientific meetings.

The Student Voice Facilitator will work within the Student Voice team to develop and deliver innovative representation practices, ensuring our members can exercise their student voice and influence university decision-making. This will be focused on Student Futures, a large-scale transformation portfolio King’s College London is undertaking. Student Futures aims to improve student experiences in key areas across the next three years. These areas include improving core processes and systems for education delivery; ensuring the university is able to provide proactive and personalised support for student wellbeing; and delivering a distinct, valuable extraand co-curricular student experience. At times, the post-holder will also be required to support other King’s Transformation Office programmes, such as Campus Futures, which is overseeing the development of King’s campus spaces and facilities in the next few years. This role is funded for the next three years, the planned timeline of the Student Futures portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

FACILITATING QUALITY REPRESENTATION PRACTICES:

• Facilitate representation practices within Student Futures, both in person and online, in line with KCLSU’s Student Voice Partnership Agreement and Student Voice Design Framework;
• Lead on development of innovative facilitation methods to foster collaborative, productive spaces for student participation that are fit to respond to the issue at hand;
• Create toolkits, guidance, and other training materials to support the facilitation skills development across KCLSU and King’s;
• Develop and deliver training on facilitation skills for KCLSU and King’s colleagues.

SERVICE DEVELOPMENT:

• Work with Student Voice colleagues to expand the capacity and reach of the team across King’s;
• Support the development and delivery of an evaluation process for the facilitation of student voice within projects or service areas, ensuring monitoring requirements are met in order to demonstrate impact and track progress over time;
• Represent KCLSU’s Student Voice team and promote the Student Voice Design Framework to King’s colleagues and other relevant stakeholders;
• Create and deliver training, guidance, and on-going support for Student Officers and other student representatives on facilitation, student voice, and related areas, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.

A successful candidate will have:

KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong knowledge of facilitation approaches and techniques, and their application in various situations
• Understanding of the ways in which social inequalities and lived experiences may impact participation
• (Desired) Awareness of current issues affecting students in the higher education sector
• (Desired) Understanding of representation systems and practices

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience of facilitating research participation, service user engagement, public engagement, membership engagement, and/or other forms of feedback and participation exercises
• Experience of working or volunteering in the education, public, and/or voluntary sectors
• Experience of working in successful partnership with a range of stakeholders
• (Desired) Experience of working with young people, students, or similar
• (Desired) Experience/involvement working with a membership organisation as an employee, representative, or trustee
• (Desired) Experience of delivering training to a professional audience
