Key Role

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Events Fundraiser to support the delivery of our annual calendar of events which includes the London Marathon, Swim Serpentine, Action Challenges and our Choose your own Challenge programme.
The Events Fundraiser will be responsible for managing the portfolio of challenge events including the marketing; on the day delivery; first class stewardship and participant support from sign up to event completion and volunteer recruitment and management.
Due to the nature of our work, you will be required to attend some events and meetings throughout our catchment area which can be during weekends, early mornings or evenings.
About you
You will have experience in planning and organising fundraising events (ideally challenge events), customer service and of working as part of a team in an office environment. You will also have an ability to remain calm and focused under pressure to achieve results in a positive and solution focused manner.

Key responsibilities:

About the role:
The post holder will be expected to manage the effective implementation of the Accelerating Inclusive Sanitation and Hygiene Economy in Nigeria project working with the Bauchi State Programme team.
They would perform a wide range of duties using independent judgment and initiative to determine approaches or actions to take in non-routine situations. In broad terms, the job holder will provide technical, administrative and operational support for programme management (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, knowledge management and fundraising activities) with reference to the SHF Project delivery in Bauchi state.
They will be required to interpret guidelines using policies and precedents. Most importantly S/he will be able to demonstrate sufficient professional and personal maturity to be entrusted with what in many cases will be sensitive information to the programme department and the organization at large.
Key Responsibilities:
A key responsibility of the Sanitation/Hygiene Manager will be to support the State Programme Lead by providing technical and administrative support to the Bauchi State Programme on sanitation/ hygiene to ensure the effective delivery of the Accelerating Inclusive Sanitation and Hygiene Economy in Nigeria project
and ensure WaterAid is networked in the right spaces to influence systemic change in Bauchi state. These will include:
General/Cross-departmental/Collaboration:
- Works closely with the State Programme Lead to ensure quality and standard delivery of the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund grant project activities.
- Lead in delivering the objectives of the SHF project in Bauchi State, especially in market-based sanitation, training of SME/entrepreneurs of sanitation and hygiene. This will also include promotions/campaigns, ODF strategies and development of WASH strategic documents and roadmaps.
- Represents WANG at State and national meetings, feeding back on progress and development on those platforms and suggesting necessary steps/advise to WANG.
- With the support of the State Team Lead, Head of Advocacy and Communication and Head of Programmes, develop appropriate activities and events to mark Global Days such as Handwashing Days, World Water Day, Menstrual Hygiene and World Toilet Days in Nigeria.
- Deliver learning products on sanitation and hygiene and engage effectively in knowledge management platforms sharing project learning on system strengthening engagements for improved sanitation and hygiene.
- Work collaboratively with the Business Development Officer as may be required to deliver project business case initiatives, especially as it relates to sanitation and hygiene.
- Support the State programme Lead in annual work planning and budget development and will be responsible for developing L3 budget for sanitation and hygiene-based activities of the Project.
Sanitation and Hygiene:
- Provide technical support that ensures sanitation facilities are hygienically and technically safe to use, are gender sensitive and inclusive and meet the needs of everyone at each stage of life.
- Promote gender-differentiated and inclusive sanitation facilities solutions that are context specific and addresses institutional gaps in schools, healthcare facilities, and public places.

- With the support of the communication unit, develop case studies, position papers, policy messages /briefing notes, web articles etc. on key sanitation and hygiene issues to achieve influencing outcomes of WaterAid work in Bauchi and Nigeria.
- In collaboration with the Advocacy and Communication Team, receive and analyse legislations related to WASH and in particular sanitation and hygiene at State Houses of Assembly and prepare reports that convey impact of policy and legislative proposals on sanitation and hygiene access within specific jurisdictions of state and LGAs.
- Raise public awareness on issues of WASH, sanitation and hygiene in collaboration with Communications and Media team.
- Support the design and delivery of activities targeted at strengthening policy analysis and capacity of WANG CSO partners in sanitation and hygiene and WASH in general.
- With the support of the State Programme Lead and Strategy, Programme Effectiveness and Learning (SPEL) department document and share learning on sanitation and hygiene policy issues and civil society engagement, citizenship engagement/empowerment, rights of stakeholders, gender, equity, and inclusion.
- With the support of the WaterAid SPEL team synthesise findings and recommendations from completed research(es) conducted by WaterAid Nigeria into practical actions in sanitation and hygiene.

About you: To be successful, you'll need to meet the following criteria.

Reporting to the Head of Growth & Branding, the Research & Development Manager will be responsible for leading Research and Development function at Enable.
Working closely with colleagues in the Growth Team and managing the R&D Officer, this person will manage conduct research, summarise findings and make recommendations in line with Enable’s strategic plan.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Use quantitative and qualitative research methods to develop and support research across Enable’s many product and service offerings
- Work collaboratively with Business Development colleagues to understand Enable’s business model, current projects and potential growth areas
- Review and summarize data and research findings and make recommendations to Enable teams and services
- Analyse current and prospective bids and grants, gathering supporting evidence and presenting findings to the Leadership Team
- Work closely with the Business Development colleagues and other well-connected Enable colleagues to identify and engage with stakeholders who can support aspects of the R&D process (for example, community organisations, universities, think tanks).
- Lead the development of an R&D Strategy and R&D Action Plan to guide Enable’s and the R&D Team’s approach to R&D.
- Conduct and lead feasibility assessments of initial R&D ideas (sourced from Business Development, broader Enable colleagues, and/or community) to determine feasibility of an idea to progress to the proceeding R&D stages (i.e. research, design, development)
- Lead data gathering and design-thinking workshops with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. potential consumers) to feed into the research, design and development of new products or services and/or the expansion of current products or services.
- Test prototypes or early-stage versions of product/service with potential consumers and stakeholders and iteratively refine based on feedback and testing.
- Lead analysis of qualitative and quantitative data collected through research, design and development stages (including monitoring and evaluation, and consumer testing feedback) and summarise into recommendations presented to Leadership Team / Growth Team to assist with the implementation of proposed R&D projects.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop communication and marketing products (i.e. emails, flyers, consent forms, presentations) to support R&D activities.
- Collaborating with services to ensure social impact other tangible outcomes are being measured
- Budget and forecast new research plans and developments.
- Line management and leadership of the Research and Development Officer, including performance and workload management, skills analysis and identifying and supporting opportunities for professional development.
- Represent R&D as a legitimate and integral function in internal and external engagements.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks for prototypes and the launched product and/or service, and lead quality assurance.
- Any other relevant duties that the Head of Growth & Branding may see fit
Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a Research and Development role and Experience designing and leading research studies through mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative) with diverse community groups
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills (internal and external) through a range of engagement pathways (i.e. roundtables, meetings, emails) and platforms (virtual, in-person)
- Strong Project Management skills for research studies and interventions (including resource identification, workflow management, and budgeting)
- Experience developing strategies and action plans to guide work processes.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and efficient time and workload management.
- Experience managing research projects or programmes within timeframes and budgets
- Excellent communication, spoken and written skills
- Experience developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure performance.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills, including evidence of writing for a range of audiences and translating technical information into comprehensive and accessible communication materials and products.
- Managerial and leadership experience, including managing and leading teams in the development of quality products and/or services
- Degree- or Masters-level qualification in research, with strong academic background.

In this exciting role you will be responsible for implementing the charity’s Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory fundraising programmes (target of £1.3m in 2024). You will manage a team of up to two with the support from the Head of Fundraising, with whom you will work closely with to develop a series of targeted multi-channelled appeals and campaigns to engage with existing supporters and to attract, recruit and retain new ones.
You will be confident in handling and interrogating data, utilising your experience to deliver insight led creative campaigns across several channels. You will use data to test and learn through the delivery of persuasive and compelling appeals and campaigns - aiming to grow supporter loyalty and inspire repeat donations.
The delivery of exceptional supporter care and stewardship is paramount in this role, the post holder will require excellent communication skills to help deepen engagement strategies with supporters and work with an ambitious, positive, and creative approach - with experience in working collaboratively organisation wide.
Key responsibilities
Planning and implementation
• Increase individual gifts through enhancing the supporter donor journey.
• Develop new individual giving appeals and campaigns with a focus on direct marketing across various channels to engage with new and existing supporters to generate new income.
• Working with the communications team to design a multi-channelled approach to maximise the reach to the appropriate audiences.
• Develop the required tools and mechanisms to ensure ease of engagement.
• Design and implement a stewardship programme that cultivates long term support across all fundraising streams.
• Work across teams to raise the profile of the charity and its appeals and fundraising activities.
• Develop new ideas and initiatives to bolster individual giving.
• Grow in memoriam donations through selected partnerships and long-term relationships that raise the profile of Kidney Care UK within the sector.
Donor data analysis and segmentation
Analyse and segment the supporter base to develop targeted supporter journeys and ask strategies, using donor data from our CRM to:
• Maximise the lifetime value of donors.
• Ensure effective use of supporter data for campaign purposes.
• Manage a continuous cycle of testing for new channels and techniques for acquisition and retention, based on audience insight and sector trends.
• Work with the Head of Fundraising to produce regular feedback reports and analysis.
• Ensure all activities and contacts are managed through the charity’s CRM system.
• Maximise gift aid opportunities.
Stewardship and donor engagement
Manage donor stewardship to provide personalised and engaging communications, including:
• Managing the production of supporter materials.
• Building a thanking programme that offers a personal and engaging donor experience.
• Collaborating with colleagues to identify individual stories for impactful campaign content.
Competencies: knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience of income generation from direct marketing campaigns (acquisition and/or retention) across a variety of digital channels for acquisition and retention.
- Experience of project management to deliver acquisition or retention campaigns within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Experience of using databases for targeting, segmentation, testing and response analysis and how to apply these learnings to future campaigns.
- Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection, Fundraising Code of Practice, and other relevant marketing or fundraising standards across the UK.
