The Role 

As our Philanthropy Manager, reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will identify and approach people who wish to invest in the advancement of worldwide research to find cures for cancer. You will grow Yorkshire Cancer Research’s portfolio of major donors and deliver exceptional levels of tailored engagement and stewardship. In doing this, you will contribute towards the charity’s ambition to secure significant income to achieve the charity's plans to save more lives in Yorkshire and beyond. 
 

Specifically, you will: 

• Develop and implement Yorkshire Cancer Research’s major donor fundraising strategy and plans. 

• Provide philanthropic individuals with the opportunity to fund research and services that will make a positive difference to people with cancer in Yorkshire, and beyond. 

• Closely listen to and understand individual’s interests and/or concerns and match their requirements to the charity’s research/services that are likely to be of greatest interest. 

• Develop a portfolio of potential major donors and create appropriate engagement opportunities* ensuring that these opportunities match the individual donor’s wants and needs. 
  (*These engagement opportunities may include events, communications, smaller dinners, and meetings with senior people at Yorkshire Cancer Research).   

• Provide a bespoke, professional customer experience to all contacts at all times.

• Work with colleagues (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to identify existing charity activities that may help attract and engage major donors. 

• Build a pipeline of major donor prospects who share the charity’s values and ambition to save lives by researching and trialling new ways to cure cancer. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of proactively approaching prospects and building long-term relationships, preferably with philanthropists or family foundations. 

• To have experience of researching individuals and using this insight to inform decision-making. 

• To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation. 

• To have experience of developing clear Key Performance Indicators and reporting performance against them.  

• To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge). 

• To enjoy working with, and supporting, colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

• To be able to analyse and present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others. 

• To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for the audience.

At Rotherham Hospice, we provide exceptional care for all those affected by terminal illness and are the only adult hospice in Rotherham for the people of Rotherham and surrounding villages.

Your Responsibilities

About you:

Experience

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role with solid knowledge and understanding of Community Fundraising.
• Proven experience developing compelling propositions that drive results and generate income / supporter acquisition. 
• Proven experience of meeting and exceeding financial targets in a fundraising setting.
• Experience developing and implementing supporter journeys across multiple channels and communication methods including telephone, written and face-to-face communications.

The role

We are looking for an exceptional Trusts and Grants Manager to play a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing success and expansion of our partnerships with trusts, foundations and statutory givers. Working closely with the Senior Trusts and Grants Manager and four more team members, this new role will lead on nurturing high-value relationships with prospective trusts who have capacity to give large funding to FareShare.

As the cost of living crisis pushes millions into food insecurity, and the world is faced with a climate emergency, the difference you can make by joining the Trusts and Grants Team is substantial. Our dual social and environmental purpose has never resonated more with partners and we have just launched an ambitious strategy to double the number of meals we can provide, amplifying our impact and presenting a compelling case for support.

The Trusts and Grants and Manager will take on the management and stewardship of a diverse portfolio of high-value funding relationships, while developing new partnerships with a range of givers. The role will also be responsible for managing and developing a Trusts and Foundations Officer to support team objectives.

You will be a strategic thinker, used to working with high value grant making professionals and trustees and with senior staff and stakeholders within your own organisation. You will have a strong track record in income generation and supporter stewardship and have excellent communication skills. Cross team collaboration is crucial to the role, and you will be able to demonstrate strong relationship building and influencing skills.

Main areas of responsibility

• Build relationships with portfolio of five and six figure trust supporters, understanding their motivations and tailoring opportunities and communications to cultivate strong, long-lasting partnerships.
• Foster a deep understanding of FareShare’s work and strategy to create persuasive fundraising proposals that inspire and solicit funds. This includes developing relationships across the organisation to build a sound understanding of FareShare operations and where support is most needed
• Champion and input in to the teams prospecting process, using your own research and sector knowledge to take new opportunities from identification through to solicitation, particularly focussing on those with multi-year and high value potential.
• Develop innovative and personalised stewardship plans, in collaboration with senior colleagues when appropriate, to deepen funder relationships. Craft compelling written communications including emails, proposals, and reports to showcase the impact of trust support and celebrate key milestones. Lead calls, meetings and visits to strengthen funder partnerships and engagement with our work.
• Provide supportive management to a Trust and Grants Officer, offering regular advice and guidance, identifying opportunities for development and monitoring performance objectives in line with the organisational and team strategy.
• Play an active role in developing and delivering the Trusts and Grants team strategy contributing to planning and management of team objectives, and supporting the Senior Manager to motivate the team and drive trust income.  
• Work with colleagues across the Fundraising sub-teams to maximise cross over opportunities between income areas.
• Maintain accurate records of partner interactions in our CRM system and shared files, and consistently update financial records and account plans.

Reporting to the Change Leader, this role will see you collaborating with Programme Managers, the Transformation Management Office (TMO) and teams in the wider organisation to ensure understanding of change impacts, in addition to having accountability for the creation and application of the change management approach for multiple ongoing initiatives within RBL.

Research Manager
Hours:  30 hours per week (part-time).  Flexible working requests will be considered.
Salary:  £32,076 (£26,008 per annum pro rata)

About:

This rewarding post oversees the exciting research portfolio of the Psoriasis Association.  You will join at an exciting time with involvement in the updating of the Research Strategy.  The Psoriasis Association is a busy charity who alongside promoting and funding research, offers authoritative, reliable, quality information, advice and support for people whose lives are affected by psoriasis, in addition to raising awareness of psoriasis. 

We are a small but high performing team that is trusted and respected in our research community and the wider dermatology community we work within. 

You will oversee all aspects of the research grant award and monitoring process, including managing our panels of lay and peer reviewers, and work alongside the communications department to promote and highlight the research supported and funded by the Psoriasis Association.

Principal Roles:

• Manage the processing of new grant applications, ensuring that the charity continues to attract high quality proposals and achieve high standards in their assessment.  The work required as part of this process includes guidance for applicants, collating all reviewer feedback, undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis of scores and feedback to inform discussion at the meetings of the Medical and Research Committee.

• Manage the monitoring of ongoing grants.

• Oversee annual Researchfish impact data gathering for all relevant grants and report on findings.

• Work alongside the Communications Department to promote the research funded by the Psoriasis Association.

Key Duties

• To provide support to the Chief Executive and Finance Officer on administering the ongoing awarding and monitoring of Psoriasis Association Grants.

• Work as part of a small team to further the important work of the Psoriasis Association.

• Analyse the impact of Psoriasis Association funded research.

• Update and implement the Psoriasis Association’s Research Strategy.

• Ensuring compliance with the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) membership criteria. 

Person Specification

• Experience of analysing data and producing quality reports based on findings. 

• Ability to assimilate, summarise and effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of stakeholders.

RECLAIM is a bold charity that is committed to building a fair and just world for and with all working-class young people. We build knowledge, power, community and solidarity to campaign on the issues that affect them the most. We do this in three ways:

Community - Creating spaces that grow a sense of belonging and solidarity.

Campaigns - Challenging institutions, systems and structures. 

Consultancy - Supporting organisations to become class-inclusive.

Our changemaking work includes:

• We supported young people to successfully campaign for free bus travel for all 16-18 year olds across Greater Manchester. A policy which now benefits 40,000 young people, making 250,000 free journeys per week and saving them and their families an average of over £500 per young person per year.

• We helped young people highlight and challenge the increasing use of violent and dehumanising language in politics. The campaign gained widespread media coverage and resulted in new commitments from the Speaker, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

• Young people we support were at the forefront of highlighting the impact of COVID19 on working-class communities and demanding better recognition of the essential workers keeping the country going during lockdown.

Role:

We are seeking a well-organised and resourceful Operations Manager to support and develop our infrastructure as we implement our exciting new organisational strategy. Working closely with our CEO and Head of Campaigns, this postholder will oversee the procurement, implementation and smooth running of our internal systems and processes, including HR and Finance. 

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee effective and efficient operations with support from the Leadership team​

• Manage organisational contracts such as phones, office space, internet etc. and ensure best value for money

• Lead on HR processes for staff and associates, which includes recruitment, contracts and inductions, and managing the staff handbook, policies and procedures​

• Oversee resource management and ensure that team members have the information, digital access and equipment they require

• Manage data and online filing systems, ensuring that we are fully compliant with UK data protection and privacy law​s

• Supervise finance function, which includes timely updating of accounts and payments, regular income/expenditure reports, liaising with accountants and Companies House, and supporting the leadership team with financial forecasting

• Organise internal events and meetings (e.g. team days, Board meetings)​

• Line management of our part-time Finance Officer

Person specification:

We are looking for someone with the following experience, skills and values:

Essential

A strong belief in the potential of working-class young people to be leaders of change.

2+ years of demonstrated experience of managing projects, including managing people and budgets

Natural problem-solver who is able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Great people skills and a strong commitment to social justice and inclusive workplaces

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English 

Takes initiative in bringing tasks or activities to the finish line with excellent attention to detail and project deadlines

Excellent IT skills and openness to learning new technologies (e.g. Google Drive, Xero, CRM systems)

Desirable

Experience leading operations, HR or finance

Experience in working in small charity environment

Willng to approach operations work flexibly and creatively

Understanding of GDPR and data protection legislation

About the role

Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Engagement team as our Campaigns Manager. This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week. This role will a hybrid position working between home and our office in King's Cross, London, with a minimum of 2 office days a week.

Sense campaigns to create a fairer society for disabled people and their families. Sense campaigns focus on the issues that matter most to the people we support, from the cost-of-living to social care. They are aimed at driving public awareness, engagement and positive change in people’s lives. We are looking for an experienced campaigner who is passionate about driving change, and able to lead organisational projects. You will play a leading role in campaign strategy for the organisation and help Sense really make an impact for disabled people and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the development and delivery of Sense campaigns, working alongside the Head of Media & Campaigns and Head of Policy, Public Affairs and Research.
• Decide on campaign priorities and make recommendations on the most appropriate course of actions to achieve Sense’s campaigning and influencing strategy.
• Ensure Sense has a consistent narrative and that disabled people and their families remain at the heart of our campaigns, that Sense is a sector leader in terms of campaigning, and that we are compliant with new charity regulations. 
• Lead on the evaluation and reporting back of campaigns to the team and wider organisation.
• Provide leadership and expertise around campaigning strategy and management to senior management and trustees.
• Be an active member of the Media & Campaigns management team, ensuring team and project plans and budgets are developed, managed and reported against.

Key skills and experience

• A passion and commitment to Sense’s purpose and values, with a genuine interest in and understanding of the issues and policies affecting our work and the individuals we support. 
• Significant experience of campaigning work, designed to achieve change, that generates support and mobilises supporters.
• Demonstrable ability to develop, maintain and negotiate effective working relationships with groups and individuals with differing perspectives and agendas, and of working with other organisations on joint campaigns and coalitions. 
• Detailed understanding of online and offline campaigning techniques, and knowledge of using campaign planning tools to ensure the success of campaigns.

• Ability to project manage, including personal time management, planning, implementing, devising and prioritising multiple projects to meet agreed deadlines and targets, overseeing work across teams and monitoring and evaluating quality and impact.

In the Community Manager role, you will focus on building offerings and opportunities that support our UK Fellows to accelerate and sustain their impact. Your day-to-day work will range from listening and talking with Fellows to delivery of events and initiatives. The role is full of autonomy and creativity, and we are looking for a self-starter who has experience building communities and delivering impactful communications. 

You will report to the UK Programme Director and work closely with the UK Programme Manager and Acumen Academy's global community & marketing teams.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Build & manage relationships with UK Fellows to understand their needs and inform our support strategy

• Design & deliver engagement and communications initiatives e.g. Fellows newsletters, regular and tailored touch-points

• Understand & facilitate value-add connections and opportunities e.g. connections to mentors, experts, funders 

• Design & deliver community initiatives that extend connection, knowledge and skills e.g. running in-person events, online workshops

• Design & deliver engaging communication campaigns that amplify and elevate the impact of Fellows e.g. writing case studies, blog posts, social media, public newsletters

• Track & evaluate the engagement and effectiveness of support initiatives e.g. feedback loops, data collection, impact reporting

• Build & manage partnerships with external partners e.g. event partners, media outlets

• Work in partnership with Acumen Academy’s global community and marketing teams to extend global opportunities, share learning and create consistent messaging

Qualifications and skills:
