The role of a Community Fundraising Executive is raising charitable donations, by building meaningful and engaging relationships to work with the communities we serve in the West Midlands. This is an exciting new role within the fundraising and communications team and we are seeking an energetic, confident and proactive fundraiser to join our team.  This role will require a lot of travel and focuses specifically on developing our education, clubs and faith groups fundraising income streams. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the rest of the fundraising team, you will develop innovative ways to engage with new audiences and maintain current relationships, to achieve our annual fundraising targets

Overall legal responsibility for the Students' Union rests with our Board of Trustees which is made up of three full-time Sabbatical Officers, four student trustees and three external trustees. The Sabbatical officers are elected each year by, and from, the student membership of the university. They take a year out of their studies (or immediately after graduating) to take on a fulltime paid staff role and to serve as a trustee.

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point. 

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.

We are seeking a committed and customer focused Helpdesk Analyst to join our IT team. You will have a passion for technology and a proactive approach to problem solving. Your role will involve diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues. You will also advocate for the use of both current and emergent technologies, as well as facilitating the training of our team to effectively utilise these tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line support to users by responding to helpdesk queries via phone, email, or in person.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
• Manage our IT Ticketing systems in Monday 
• Escalate complex problems to the appropriate IT support teams, both internally and externally.
• Maintain accurate records of helpdesk interactions, resolutions, and follow-up actions.
• Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware and software as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance IT systems and processes.
• Contribute to the development of user guides and knowledge base articles.
• Collaborate with the business support team to streamline IT hardware procurement processes and co-develop better working practices, maintain an equipment log, manage the refreshment of returned laptops, and oversee telephone service, reviewing contracts for efficiency and fit.
• Assist with helping to codesign the on/off boarding of new/leaving members of staff and help manage the resulting tasks including data protection actions.
• Assist with new software rollouts in both their configuration and in staff training.
• Help introduce new digital tools within the organisation and improve adoption and usage. This will involve matching needs and running pilots, change and embedding processes.
• Work with external providers to ensure a high quality of service is maintained in the organisation.
• Create and manage a set of standard guidelines for using our digital tools effectively, and devise ways to promote their use. Additionally, manage the training programme that support these tools adoption.
• Support the CTO as required in any duties which you could be reasonably expected to perform in line with this job description.

Role Summary:

Global Health 5050 is seeking a hands-on Head of Operations to support the professional running of the charity. The successful candidate for this post is expected to play an integral role in contributing to the growth of GH5050, as well as taking a leading role in managing the day-to-day and longer-term operations of the charity.

We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who is able to switch seamlessly between strategic thinking and in the detail execution. Role Responsibilities:

● Support the leadership of GH5050 and the key organisational management decisions that need to be made for the effective growth and operations of the charity.

Person specification: 

● Bachelors-degree qualification or relevant professional experience.

● Experience working in a similar or relevant role with a passion for the GH50/50 mission and where they can have impact.

● Experience in human resources, policy creation and GDPR.

● Experience engaging with NGO boards of trustees.

● Demonstrated proficiency in managing teams, some of whom are based remotely.

Who are Women’s Aid?

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Purpose of the Public Affairs Officer role: 

As the Public Affairs Officer in the External Affairs team at Women’s Aid, you will play a pivotal role in our government and parliamentary engagement work. This will include leading on monitoring parliamentary activity and identifying opportunities for Women’s Aid to influence the political agenda and ensure parliamentarians are kept up to date on issues related to domestic abuse. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our influencing work with the new government on key pieces of legislation, Women’s Aid’s next big campaign and assisting Women’s Aid’s secretariat role to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Domestic Violence and Abuse. Alongside organising meetings and events for the APPG and with key political stakeholders, you will lead on the development of public affairs and campaigns materials, including policy bulletins, briefings, speaking notes and letters to government ministers.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Public Affairs Officer:

• Carry out regular political monitoring, keeping the team updated with important developments for Women’s Aid, identifying opportunities for influence and providing analysis on policy announcements.
• Draft newsletters, correspondence, and website and social media content for parliamentarians, Women’s Aid’s member services and campaigners on a range of campaign and policy priorities.
• Support Women’s Aid’s work on key pieces of legislation - responding to queries, drafting briefings and parliamentary questions, working with Parliamentarians on draft amendments, and the development of joint sector work.
• Lead on projects that widen participation in Women’s Aid public affairs and campaigning work, including organising meetings with sector colleagues, survivors, and our member services.

What we are looking for in our Public Affairs Officer:

• Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write copy for a range of audiences and formats, e.g., briefings, consultation submissions, correspondence and speaking notes.
• Experience of working in a political role or exposure within parliamentary institutions.
• Experience in liaising and working with external organisations and individuals, including via correspondence and joint working groups/joint sector meetings.
• Experience in supporting the delivery of projects and campaigns.
• Ability to communicate sensitively about the issues facing women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Ideal Criteria and Experience for the Chief Executive Officer

• By the Equality Act 2010, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian. This is essential to the credibility of the organisation and performance of this role and ensures that the charity is following its governing document.
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Ability to speak and lead church meetings to promote the work of the organisation amongst the local churches.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of successfully implementing organisational strategies and driving positive change.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and inspire a shared vision.
• Demonstrate experience in fundraising, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and relationship management.
• Financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
• Understanding of governance principles and experience working with boards of directors/trustees.
• Knowledge of UK regulations governing charities and business including knowledge of company administration and charity governance.

About the Role

Cancer52 is a national organisation, created in 2007 by Professor Sir Mike Richards, CBE, then National Clinical Director for Cancer, and registered as a charity in England and Wales in September 2017.

We are an exceptional organisation, providing one voice for all those affected by rare and less common cancers.  Historically, these cancers have been underrepresented and under-funded.  Today, they represent 47% of people diagnosed with cancer, but 55% of all cancer deaths – a hidden majority.  Cancer52’s aim is to change this by taking the collective voice of our members to those who influence cancer policy, research, services and treatment.

Cancer52 is recognised for its strong convening role, bringing together our 115 member charities with organisations in industry, government, the NHS and other stakeholders to address the inequalities faced by patients with rare and less common cancers.  Our reputation is strong and we are in a unique position to provide a common voice for these underrepresented cancers.  The figures for people with these cancers are challenging and there is much work to do.

After a hugely successful tenure during which Cancer52’s size and influence has grown dramatically, our current CEO is retiring from full time work in July. The Board of Trustees is now seeking to appoint a successor to build on the successes and achievements of recent years.

To be our next Chief Executive, you will be a talented leader, able to motivate and empower others  and develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. You will also be an inspiring and authentic individual who is passionate, confident and engaging as the key spokesperson of the organisation and a representative of the diverse Cancer52 membership.

You will be capable of influencing decisions at senior levels of government, in the NHS and in partner organisations operating in the fields of cancer research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment. As our Chief Executive, your role is to be a key proponent of the campaigning and influencing drive of the charity, setting the overall strategy and vision for the organisation.

In addition to the core management competencies required, the role requires demonstrable leadership which will inspire others, along with a comprehensive understanding of Cancer52’s purpose and the problems faced by those charities and organisations representing the rare and less common cancer communities.

Effective networking will be a key skill set, and will enable you to actively seek out, engage and establish productive relationships with political decision makers, NHS leadership and charity CEOs to further our goals.  Your approach will be collaborative, motivating stakeholders to engage with our work.
