This is a pivotal role within our charity, leading the finance and operations teams and supporting the Charity’s strategic direction. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for overseeing our finances and core services, including HR and IT, and acting as Company Secretary. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and external stakeholders to ensure the charity is well-run, financially resilient, and operationally effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute strategies for Finance & Operations to ensure the charity’s assets and infrastructure provide maximum impact for beneficiaries.

• Senior Leadership Contribution: Play an active role as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing collective leadership, contributing to strategic decision-making, and supporting the CEO in leading the organisation.

• Financial Management: Lead the finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and statutory accounts for an annual income of around £11m.

• Governance: Act as Company Secretary, supporting the Board of Trustees and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements.

• Investments: Monitor and report on the charity’s investments, working closely with investment advisors and providing strategic recommendations (strategic reserves of £130m+).

• Operational Oversight: Lead the development of a technology strategy, ensuring IT infrastructure via our outsourced provider supports the charity’s needs and enhances user experience.

• People & Culture: Collaborate with our HR Business Partner to develop a People Strategy that fosters a culture of ambition, agility, and continuous learning, whilst ensuring operational HR support and systems are effective.

A summary of what we’re looking for:

• A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CCAB, or CIMA) with significant experience in leading finance functions, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.

• Proven track record of managing financial and operational teams, with expertise in charity governance and accounting, investments, and strategic planning.

• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and work collaboratively with senior stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex data to inform decision-making.

• A deep understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements within the charity sector. 

The ideal candidate will have experience within a charity finance & operational role, with the corresponding knowledge and understanding of investment oversight, charity governance, and the HR & IT functions. An understanding of the healthcare context is also beneficial.

We are seeking a full time Finance and HR AdministratorHuma to support timely processing of financial transactions, accurate accounting, consistency of financial records, supporting the year-end close as well as supporting the HR advisor with administrative tasks.

As the Finance and HR Administrator, you will become an integral part of our dedicated team, ensuring the smooth functioning of the HR and financial operations.

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models, cash flow and forecasts to support strategic business planning and decision-making.
   
• Budget Management: Oversee and lead on the annual international budgeting and planning process (involving all ProVeg entities and departments). Administer and review all international financial plans and budgets; maintain all program budgets.
   
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly (P&L and balance sheets) management reports, quarterly variance reports, annual financial reports, donor-specific or grant reports, and other income generation reports to the Global CEO, and Senior Leadership Team.
   
• Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and manage financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. 
   
• Financial Risk & Compliance Management: Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, leverage financial opportunities, and ensure financial compliance with charity laws and other guidelines. Remain up-to-date on best practices in non-profit finance, and relevant laws regarding non-profit operation. 
   
• Finance Operations and governance: Oversee and improve internal financial policies and procedures such as implementation of central finance software, donations and grants tracking, ensuring value for money by applying internal auditing principles, and advising/supporting country directors and finance managers as well as organisations joining the ProVeg global network.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualification preferred, though candidates qualified by experience will be considered. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field desirable; graduate degree or CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the non-profit sector. Experience of implementing and maintaining strong financial controls.

• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with a track record of strategic financial planning and analysis.

• Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and finance operations.

• Excellent data skills, including Google Workspace, with advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software. Desirable: experience of implementing new accounting software.

• Calm and professional attitude, high level of integrity, accuracy, and a strong sense for due diligence.

• Experience consolidating multiple entities, ideally including different currencies.

• Collaborative attitude, solution-focused, and supportive of international colleagues (particularly Country Directors & Country Finance Managers, International Department Heads and International Operations team).

About the role:

The Head of Operations will oversee the day-to-day running of the global operations of Reprieve UK and Reprieve US and our work around the globe.

They will be responsible for assisting with planning, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating the systems, processes and relationships that enable caseworkers, fellows, and consultants to do the challenging work that they do as efficiently, safely and effectively as possible. About you

The Finance and Support Services Manager will be a highly skilled professional with a strong background in financial management, risk control, and compliance. They will ensure adherence to the organisational Financial Framework, including implementing financial management and controls, planning and budgeting, monitoring and audits, and maintaining financial records. The manager will also ensure compliance with local regulations and governance requirements.

The ideal candidate will support and strengthen financial management, accountability, and capacities of partners, fostering collaboration between finance and programme teams for joint project/programme reviews, planning, and analysis. They will develop and provide grant management support for both restricted and unrestricted funding, and ensure proper financial monitoring of projects, including auditing of funds.

Jobholder Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant professional accounting qualification or a bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or relevant volunteering or work experience.
• Demonstratable working experience, ideally in an INGO environment, but experience in audit and government organisations would also be advantageous.
• Experience in financial management, programme and project management, and administration.
• Project financial management and data analysis skills.
• Ability to represent Sightsavers with key external stakeholders.

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pioneering Project, as we develop pathways to faith on the Roundshaw Estate.

With significant grant investment from the Church of England, we are now setting up a Pioneering Project to develop these pathways, with new innovative spaces being added along the way. BSAVA is the professional body that serves veterinary surgeons and nurses who treat companion animals and it exists to enable the veterinary profession and professionals thrive.

Reporting into the CEO and as a key member of the Leadership Team, this critical role will be responsible for the development of effective financial strategy to deliver the organisations strategic ambitions, whilst also supporting the strategic development, performance measurement and the optimisation of the Charity’s income.

Founded in 1957, BSAVA has gone from strength to strength to enable the community of small animal veterinary professionals to develop their knowledge and skills through leading-edge education, scientific research and collaboration. BSAVA currently boasts over 10,000 members, the majority of whom work in practice as veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses, and there are several exciting projects on the horizon as part of their new strategic plan, of which this Head of Finance and Shared Services will play a leading role.

The key duties of this Head of Finance & Shared Services role are as follows:

• Ensure that the charity complies with statutory, funding and tax regulations, fulfilling its requirements as a charity, company and employer.

• Lead the statutory audit process and production of the Annual Report, co-ordinating the completion of year end processes.

• Develop a long-term financial strategy that will support the charity’s ambition for growth.
• Support the Chief Executive and LT with new business development and change management initiatives. 
• Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and 3-year forecasts in accordance with the timescales laid down by the CEO.
• Make recommendations to further develop the Shared Services function in order to optimise resources and enhance the efficient running of the Association.
• Support the LT in development and review of business models, commercial proposals, optimising pricing strategies and analysis of potential revenue.

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified as a finance professional or be qualified by demonstrable experience.
• Finance experience at a senior level, guiding executing and non-executive colleagues.
• Experience of producing and managing organisations budgets and forecasts.
• Experience of financial modelling and development of KPIs.
• Line management experience.
• Ideally, experience of charity accounting including preparing statutory accounts for audit.
• Experience of managing other business areas and support functions would also be an advantage.

As Director of Finance and Operations, you will

· Provide clear financial and commercial strategy and direction; 

· Embed all the relevant business, operational and legislative frameworks, policies and working practices necessary for our Trust to thrive, including those associated with compliance, HR, IT, estates, health and safety, marketing and development;  

· Ensure sound and appropriate financial governance and risk management arrangements are in place, prepare forecasts and monitor budgets and deliver annual accounts in accordance with the Academies Handbook, ESFA guidelines and all statutory requirements;

· Be responsible for the statutory accounts, financial returns and reports to the Trust board, ESFA, DfE and other statutory bodies in line with guidance and externally determined deadlines;

· Advise our Trust Lead (CEO), Trust Board on strategic financial information and school leaders on all matters relating to the Trust’s resources and assets to enable informed decision making;

· Be responsible and accountable for the delivery of our financial and other operational support services, including the management of the Trust’s finance system and internal controls;

· Provide strategic leadership and management of the Trust’s finance and operations teams, including HR, IT, Estates and governance;

· Be the primary point of contact for all aspects of funding and financial returns, HR, IT and Estates;

· Keep up to date with all funding and legislative changes that apply to the education sector, specifically multi academy trusts;
