About the role
Project Scotland, part of the national charity Volunteering Matters, supports young people to get on in life through the power of volunteering. Brighter futures work with pupils (aged 13-16), we offer disadvantaged pupils struggling to engage with the regular school curriculum the opportunity to undertake a volunteering placement as well as the option of having a mentor. We support and empower pupils to gain skills and confidence in a new environment within the wider community, promoting a sense of belonging, whilst extending horizons and aspirations.
We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and compassionate Youth Engagement Manager to join our team in Edinburgh. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values.
This role will be working in partnership with St Thomas of Aquins R.C High School, we have been delivering Brighter Futures here for two years and have funding till June 2025.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- To build relationships with secondary school pupils, particularly those on flexible timetables, who have complex and challenging barriers, acting in a non-judgemental way to support them through their Brighter Futures journey
- Consistently role modelling and displaying Volunteering Matters organisational values
- Deliver and develop the Brighter Futures Schools programme within in St Thomas of Aquins R.C High School, meeting ambitious targets and milestones, ensuring all young people engaged achieve positive outcome.
- Provide pre and post volunteering practical and emotional support to each pupil, helping to build their confidence and identify achievable goals as well support the pupil to complete awards and qualifications linked to their volunteering.
- Engaging with current charity partners, not for profit organisations and social enterprises and developing new ones in line with our Best Practice for under 16’s volunteering.
- Develop diverse, high quality and bespoke volunteer placements with third sector partners that reflect the needs and interests of pupils.
- Effective recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support of a diverse pool of talented and dedicated volunteer mentors from a wide cross-section of the community
- To maintain Volunteering Matters standards around quality and effective Volunteer Management
- To manage all elements of a young person’s experience, from referral to completion of their journey, including managing the match with their mentor.
- To manage the risk assessment, safeguarding, quality assurance and audit processes as appropriate
- Ensure monitoring, impact and evaluation information is collected and that Brighter Futures meets it’s agreed targets, reporting format and schedule.
- Administration tasks including maintaining effective and accessible records, the use of Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom and other software such as Canva (use to develop relevant promotional material and information)

Grandmentors
Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young people leaving the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
Volunteers meet with a young person regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person
Role Purpose
To develop and deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project across London, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The post holder will work closely with the Virtual College and Leaving Care teams within London Borough Councils and local volunteers to ensure that we improve and empower the lives of care leavers (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.
Key Duties Responsibilities
· To effectively deliver the service to ensure the project meets its agreed targets and millstones.

· To ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided.
· To work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget.
· To maintain accurate administration, for all aspects of the project.
· To maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure database.
· To manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance.
· To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes.
· To prepare regular reports including quarterly progress updates, impact reports and end of year reports for both internal and external purposes.
· To develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally.
· To promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors.
· To comply with the applicable Health and Safety and Safeguarding regulations.
· To contribute to joint working and teamwork across Volunteering Matters.

This role
We are recruiting for a new role providing EA support to the CEO and administrative support across the organisation.
Justice and Care is at an exciting moment with the imminent launch of a new ten-year strategy and this role will be a key part of our team and play a vital role in helping us achieve our vision.
This role will report to the Head of HR but will provide EA support to the CEO and ad hoc support to other members of the Senior Leadership Team. The role will provide administrative support across the organisation so will get to work alongside all teams.
Your main responsibilities will include;

In this newly created role you will lead a team in the provision of high quality management information for internal and external stakeholders and provide business insights to drive financial performance.
