In 2021, Action Against Hunger UK launched an ambitious new 5-year fundraising and communications strategy, of which corporate funding is a crucial part. Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, the Senior Business Development Manager is a key member of the Partnerships team and a significant role in the Fundraising & Communications department.

About the Role

St Christopher’s is the supported housing provider for the new London Accommodation Pathfinder – an innovative new London wide service to improve accommodation and outcomes for young people aged between 16 and 17 in contact with the youth justice system at risk of custody (remand or sentence). You and your team will be working closely with local authorities across London and the Pathfinder project team to deliver meaningful programs of activity for young people promoting personal responsibility and understanding consequences for actions and diversions from offending by supporting positive outcomes, particularly education, training and employment in addition to life and independent living skills within a trauma informed environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective coordination and delivery support to the Student Space programme.
• Working closely with the Senior Programme Managers and wider team members to ensure successful delivery of programmes.

South West Surrey Domestic Abuse Service is looking for an Outreach Worker to support adult survivors of domestic abuse across Waverley/Guildford Boroughs and to also take the lead in advocating for our LGBTQ+ service (Surrey Pride Awards 2024). You might be part of the LGBTQ+ population and/or have experience of LGBTQ+ needs or the impact of discrimination. 

You may have experience of helping those who have been affected by abuse or other trauma. You will use your compassion and listening skills to provide emotional and practical support and help survivors feel safe and empowered. The role includes providing risk assessment, advice, advocacy, safeguarding and liaison with other professionals for example Police, Social Services and Local Authorities. 

As part of our adult outreach team, you will support all victims and survivors of domestic abuse living in our area no matter what their age, race, faith, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or class. 

We have built strong links across Surrey, raising awareness of our LGBTQ+ service that supports members of the LGBTQ+ population across the county. This includes creating a better understanding of their needs and challenges when affected by domestic abuse. We want someone who can continue this networking and advocacy work. You will be a strong communicator, a confident networker and able to understand and professionally challenge the views of others. 

You will be working 30 hours a week as part of our team of over 20 staff based on the edge of Guildford. -Support with developing the quality of services and projects delivered by Coram Voice to children and young people. This includes under Coram Voice’s Homelessness Outreach Project.

-You will support in the promotion of good practice across both Coram Voice and external organisations, building equitable and inclusive practice across the sector for homeless children and young people.

Our advocates will have relevant experience with children and young people, and may hold a suitable Advocacy Qualification. For the right candidate, we may also be able to offer this post as a Trainee position, and offer support to gain qualifications. Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine. The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.

This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.

The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting.

Your main roles and responsibilities will be:

- Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors
- Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided
- Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance
- Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors
- Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors
- Support the organisation and delivery with Roma Vendors of 1-2-1 and group training sessions and drop-ins
- Ensure that your work meets service standards and targets and complete surveys with vendors as required
- Involving Roma service users in the service design and delivery as local and national opportunities arise
- Adhere to all required policies and procedures including with regards to safeguarding, lone and safe working, case work management and expenses and finances
- Undertake any other duties as required by your manager (within reasonable expectations)

You need to be:

- Passionate about and committed to supporting those living in poverty
- Confident communicator face to face and on the phone in both Romanian and English, with ability to convey information clearly
- Able to build rapport with diverse individuals from the Roma community
- Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and inequalities that individuals from the Roma community may face in the UK
- Excellent time management and very organised, with the ability to complete tasks by agreed deadlines
- Good data entry skills
- Able to represent the organisation to other professionals and partner agencies
- Able to work with individuals in both one to one and group formats
- Able to follow guidelines and work within policies, seeking support from line manager as needed
- Willing to work in flexible locations including our community office, as well as visiting vendors at pitches and attending community meetings. This role is not suitable for home- based working.

The Digital Content Officer will be a key member of the Communications team as we expand our digital mobilisation work. It’s a great time to join time to join the team, as we look to further embed our new digital mobilisation strategy and build momentum on the recent success we’ve achieved online. In particular, this role will help support the team as we expand our digital mobilisation programme and respond to emergencies around the world. As the Corporate Partnerships Manager, you’ll play a vital role in securing funding from companies and businesses to help drive forward our work. We rely completely on voluntary funding to fund our work, and our corporate partnerships play a huge role in enabling us to do this, year after year. The successful candidate will be starting with an excellent baseline and portfolio but will really be able to build the pipeline, taking our partnerships to the next strategic level.

The Corporate Partnerships Manager will:

1. Account manage a range of corporate partnerships from cause related marketing, to charity of the year and staff fundraising
2. Build a new business pipeline and secure new partners 
3. Line manage the Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer within the high-value team

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological disease that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support to children and adults with M.E. We provide vital support services, campaign for change and invest in ground-breaking research to help put an end to the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M.E. 

We are looking for an empathic and resilient individual to join a friendly and well-established team of part-time, remote-based Information and Support Officers, on a 12-month contract. The purpose of this role is to provide a holistic, client-centred, effective and efficient Information and Support Service to people affected by M.E. We do this primarily via outgoing calls made in response to triaged voicemail messages, and also via email.

You can choose to be home-based anywhere in the UK, work from our Bristol office, or a hybrid of the two.

Our Information and Support Service team has a deep understanding of the issues affecting people with M.E. and their family and carers. Some of our clients come to us in considerable distress so this work isn’t always easy, but it can be incredibly rewarding and is valued by our clients and the wider organisation.

You will need experience of working in a service providing information, advice, support or advocacy by telephone and email (or proven transferable skills). You will be experienced and confident at working with people in distress, and identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, with the courage and emotional resilience to set and maintain realistic boundaries.

You can expect a warm welcome, daily huddles with your line-manager and peers, and a strong team culture of collaboration, self-care and peer support. Our Employee Assistance Programme, available to all staff and their immediate families, includes one-to-one counselling and a range of online support and toolkits.

• Offering emotional support via active, empathic listening, including to people in significant distress.
• Setting and maintaining boundaries; managing clients’ expectations and ensuring commitments to them are met.
• Helping clients unpick a situation which seems overwhelming and break down complex situations into discrete issues which can then be progressed.
• Working with the client to understand their needs and wishes, empowering them to make informed choices and to take action to achieve their self-identified goals.
• Providing information and support on a wide range of issues, including on sensitive and confidential matters, in a way that is tailored and appropriate to the individual.
• Identifying safeguarding concerns as they arise from contact with clients and escalating these to a manager, in line with our organisational Safeguarding Policies.
• Making safeguarding referrals where directed to by the Information and Support Supervisor or other manager.
• Gathering outcomes and satisfaction data from clients to enable service evaluation and improvement.

All the following person specification criteria are essential unless otherwise stated.

1. Educated to A level standard or equivalent experience in a similar role is preferred, however no one specific qualification is required. 
2. Experience working on a helpline as part of an information, support, navigator or advocacy service, supporting clients to identify options and services available to them. 
3. An understanding of the challenges facing people with a long-term health conditions, physical impairments or disabilities, such as M.E. 
4. Demonstrable experience of working in a person-centred, needs-led way. 
5. Experience identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, working strictly within organisational policies and procedures. 
6. Experience of working with people in distress, including people who disclose suicidal thoughts. 
7. Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, systematically and with nuance, both verbally and in writing. 
8. Ability to demonstrate empathy while setting boundaries; emotionally resilient and resourceful, with ability to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances to maintain your wellbeing. 
9. Strong team player and also able to work on own initiative; ability to work remotely while building strong relationships with your manager and peers. 
10. Ability to analyse complex situations, identify options available to clients and signpost appropriately. 
11. MS Office skills including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, and proficiency with web-related programmes and software.

The Research and Involvement Officer will ensure that unpaid carers are meaningfully involved in the design and delivery of research and will be instrumental in enabling unpaid carers to be directly heard by researchers and decision makers. This will include the involvement of young carers and unpaid carers of all ages in the development of programmes, policy, and providing mechanisms for unpaid carers to speak truth to power to influence for change.

The postholder will play a key role in bringing Welsh voices and perspectives to our UK-wide research and involvement functions and will work with colleagues across the UK to produce impactful evidence to influence changes beyond Wales’ borders.
