The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous administration experience gained in a medium to large sized organisation responsible for a variety of tasks.

Key aspects of the job will be:
- Assist the transactional People Team activities at all stages of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probations, reference & flexible working requests, changes to terms and conditions paperwork, etc.
- Management and maintenance of HR systems. 100% accuracy of data within all People Team systems (full training will be given).
- To take notes and provide support with formal investigations as required.
- Produce accurate and timely reports, including holiday, sickness absence reporting and HR metrics.
- Manage the People Team HR requests mailbox, supporting operational queries and escalate to the People Managers & Advisors as required.

The role

Our location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail.
We have a hybrid approach to the way we work. Our Senior Executive Team meet with our Senior Leadership Team twice a month on a Monday. These meetings are face to face. One is in central London and one is at our Hatfield office. In addition, you will be required to attend at least four face to face organisational All Staff Together days which are predominantly in Hatfield, one directorate meeting a month in Hatfield, as well as attending the Hatfield office with the rest of the HR team one day a week. One to one’s will be face to face with direct line reports and your line manager once a quarter.

The Diocese of Winchester (WDBF) and the Diocese of Portsmouth (PDBF) support the Ministry in, and the mission of, Church of England parishes in Winchester and Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
Reporting into the Heads of Finance for both dioceses, you will play a key role in operational cashflow management, financial reconciliations, and process improvement. Working across two charities within each diocese, as well as supporting additional connected organisations, this role offers a unique opportunity to enhance financial operations within a complex and impactful environment.
In this Finance Officer role, you will:
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for all diocesan entities, ensuring transactions are accurate and properly recorded.
- Complete quarterly investment reconciliations, updating the investment register and processing revaluations as needed.
- Manage the school’s ledger, overseeing payments, fund transfers, and project accounting reconciliations.
- Collect the Common Mission Fund via direct debit, reconcile payments weekly, report figures to the National Church, and support monthly reporting.
- Assist with year-end preparations, ensuring timely and accurate statutory accounts and audit support for all entities.
- Monitor daily cash flow across diocesan entities, transferring funds as needed and overseeing Barclaycard and NatWest credit card accounts.
- Act as system administrator for accounting and banking platforms, supporting users, resolving queries, and assisting the finance team.

About the role:
Birmingham Hippodrome has been entertaining audiences for over 125 years. The Finance Team is crucial to stewarding financial resources, meeting regulatory requirements, providing transactional services and delivering a range of reporting to enable the organisation in deliver its strategic aims.
The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance Team to provide compliant and effective finance services including transactional processing, financial accounting, financial planning and control, initiatives to improve financial performance and delivery of management information which supports strategic and tactical decision making. The post holder will work particularly closely with the Financial Controller and Chief Operating Officer to plan and deliver co-ordinated activity which provides excellent support for the organisation.
The organisation has an ambitious strategy which means that it has grown its workforce and the range of activities it undertakes and has more to achieve. It is taking on more activity with different accounting implications than in the past, such as loans, commercial property management and producing its own work for the stage. Capital projects are underway or having feasibility tested and we are at a point of change in how we work with some partner organisations. As the Head of Finance, you will be pivotal in leading and developing the department and its relationship with both internal and external stakeholders. You will lead on the provision of accounting and financial management services for three companies in the Hippodrome group and some partner organisations, supporting a growing range of activity which brings new technical and support requirements. You will be joining a team of skilled professionals working hard to ensure that Birmingham Hippodrome’s strategic plans are underpinned by effective financial services.
About you:
Ideally you'll have most of the following:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA) - this is a must-have
- Technical knowledge of taxation and ability to research and implement new requirements.
- Knowledge and experience of accounting and tax technical considerations in a not for profit setting.
- Experience of reporting requirements of Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Practical experience of producing VAT returns.
- Experience of assessing employment or self-employment status.
- Proficient in implementation and use of accounting software.
- Able to assess and engineer systems of financial control to ensure an appropriate control environment.
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt your management style to support team members with a wide range of experience levels.
- Ability to build constructive working relationships and look for positive and flexible solutions to challenges, while achieving necessary compliance.
- Experience of managing and developing a team.
- Experience of producing information for senior leadership and presenting it in appropriate format for their needs.
- Experience of producing statutory financial statements for a charity group.

Rooted in lived experience and developed over three decades, SYEDA is a leading regional charity offering support to individuals affected by eating disorders, along with their carers and the professionals who support them. The organisation has recently secured a major five-year contract, along with additional grant funding, to expand both its clinical services and early intervention work, including innovative programmes in schools and community settings.

As CEO, you will:
- Lead SYEDA’s strategy and vision, working closely with a committed Board and team
- Oversee the delivery of clinical and preventative services, ensuring high standards of care, access and innovation
- Support and develop the staff team (~20 people), embedding a culture of inclusion, learning, and wellbeing
- Drive income generation and ensure financial sustainability
- Represent SYEDA regionally and nationally.
About you:
You’re an experienced senior leader with proven experience in people management, strategy, and operational delivery. You understand the importance of good governance and inclusive leadership. Ideally, you’ve worked in or alongside the NHS or charity sector, and you bring passion for health/social care, EDI, and recovery.
