Wilder Wellbeing Officer
Location: Taunton, Somerset, with opportunities for hybrid working

The Wilder Wellbeing Officer will:

• Drive, embed and promote the benefits of a connection with nature to people.
• Develop and deliver resources and upskilling opportunities for communities and practitioners that support them to bring the wellbeing benefits of nature connection into their regular activities.
• Support Community groups to set up nature connection specific activity
• Support volunteers to creatively bring nature connection for wellbeing into their communities.
• Working internally with community-based colleagues to embed nature connection for wellbeing into their practices.
• Work alongside health colleagues (Public Health, NHS, Integrated Care Board) and other Green and Social Prescribing Colleagues to help develop and improve the GSP offer in Somerset.
• This role will sit alongside other ‘Wilder Officers’ who are focused on different areas and specialisms including Youth, Volunteers and Communities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Responsibility 1: Developing and Maintaining Partner and Community Relationships

• Building on the legacy of previous wellbeing work, maintain relationships we have with health sector partners in Somerset as well as those supporting wellbeing through Social/Green Social Prescribing offers, including art and sports sector partners.
• Identifying individuals, community leaders and existing community groups in Somerset we are not currently working with and work to build trust and relationships.
• Working with our communications team, pro-actively provide content for external communications to highlight our work, the Team Wilder approach and the work of the communities and groups we are working with.
• Finding creative ways to reach previously underrepresented groups/individuals who may benefit from improved access to nature and who could help to take-action for nature in their communities.
• Supporting and inputting to the Local Nature Partnership Nature and Wellbeing Sub-Group, chaired by Somerset Wildlife Trust, and Somerset Nature and Wellbeing Practitioners Network.

Responsibility 2: Supporting Communities/Groups with Nature Connection for Wellbeing

• Championing the ‘Team Wilder’ approach to help create a movement for nature, sharing skills, experience, knowledge and learning about community organizing within the Trust and through the movement.
• Involving SWT and community-based volunteers to support with reaching previously underrepresented groups.
• Using in-depth knowledge of the benefits of nature connection for maintaining and improving health and wellbeing and experience in this field to community groups to embed in the services and informal support and advice they provide.
• Signposting individuals and groups to local nature and wellbeing/nature connection opportunities within their communities.
• Supporting individuals and groups with overcoming barriers to access.

Responsibility 3: Facilitating Events and Developing Resources

• Organising and facilitating public events and support community led events that aim to connect people to green spaces, recognizing the health and wellbeing benefits of doing so.
• Developing resources and guidance documents to support community groups, conservation sector colleagues and health practitioners to integrate nature connection/wellbeing into their regular activities.
• Working with community volunteers to ensure resources are relatable, accessible and include content that is most useful to communities and individuals we are supporting.

Reporting to the Head of Public Fundraising you will line manage two Senior Mass Participation Events Fundraisers in the Mass Participation Fundraising Events Team. The role is responsible for delivery of the Mass Participation Events portfolio, providing strategic input and support to grow and develop the portfolio through a range of channels as well as playing a key part in the delivery of key community events throughout the year and liaising with integral and external stakeholders.

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the UK-wide Volunteering Team, as the lead representative for Northern Ireland.  

As the Volunteering Development Manager, you will support the development of key volunteering initiatives and projects both across the UK and Northen Ireland. You will play a key role in supporting colleagues in Northern Ireland to identify opportunities to embed volunteering across their work.

Contributing to Sustrans 5-year volunteering strategy aims, you will work closely with the Head of Volunteering to shape and implement this within Northern Ireland. 

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as partner organisations and the UK-wide volunteering development network. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About the role:

As the Peer Mentor Coordinator (Young Women & Girls), this is an exciting time to join Advance while we embark on our journey to reach even more young women and girls aged 13-25 in need of support. You will project manage the mentoring service and recruit, support and develop Volunteer Mentors in their roles. Working as part of an innovative and newly-funded service, you will also work closely with the Maia Service Manager to capture and share feedback and learning from the project, using this to inform the ongoing development of Advance’s ways of working with YWG and disseminating findings widely across key partners and networks.

About You:

To be successful as the Peer Mentor Coordinator (Young Women & Girls) you will need the below experience and skills:

You will be able to project manage the Maia’s Service’s peer mentoring programme, liaising with keyworkers and partner agencies to successfully establish and run a peer mentoring programme across six boroughs.

You will be able to effectively engage and recruit women with lived experience to act as Volunteer Mentors for the YWG engaging with the Maia service. 

You will be able to develop resources and deliver a training package to Volunteer Mentors, including sessions on key topics such as safeguarding, data protection and confidentiality, building relationships and maintaining boundaries, active listening and risk and crisis management, as well as specialist workshops focused on the challenges facing YWG, including violence, abuse and exploitation and contact with the criminal justice system.

You will have experience in developing and maintaining links with partner agencies (statutory and non-statutory, including children and young people’s and women and girls’ voluntary services) across the six boroughs, raising the profile of the Maia service and developing specific referral pathways for Volunteer Mentors and the YWG they support where appropriate.

You will be knowledgeable and have a strong understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic abuse, exploitation, mental health and contact with the criminal justice system, and of the practical and emotional support needs specific to this group, including education, confidence and relationship-building.

Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. • Demonstrated experience implementing Salesforce configuration changes including (but not limited to): Flow, fields, page layouts, record types, custom settings, dashboards and reports; 
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels;

• Demonstrates enthusiasm towards continued personal/professional development;

Changing Futures is a £64 million joint initiative by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and The National Lottery Community Fund. About the role

As the 'Changing Futures' GROW Coordinator you will provide strategic oversight of GROW placements, working closely with the Changing Futures Innovation sites and the GMCA to provide support around inclusive recruitment and sharing best practice regarding employing people with lived experience of multiple disadvantages. You will co-ordinate the programme to ensure a high-quality traineeships and make sure that the structures and resources to facilitate traineeships are in place.

We will also rely on you to promote the programme to partners, funders and other audiences, so we can raise awareness of the value of employing people with lived experience and encourage more organisations to adopt the approach.  You will empower our Trainees to use their experiences to influence the design and delivery of the partnership by developing and maintaining learning pathways, ensuring the right wellbeing and development support is in place and that they have the right resources and training materials.

About you

We need someone with understanding and insight into how experiencing multiple disadvantage and social inequalities can affect people’s lives as well as experience of co-ordinating employment, training and education projects. You will be keen and able to develop relationships across networks, services and systems and will seek out opportunities to champion co-production and influence systemic change. Some people management experience, with an emphasis on relational approaches to partnership working and problem-solving abilities, will be needed as well as a proven ability to develop relationships internally and externally with a variety of stakeholders. You will be comfortable giving presentations, writing reports and conveying information to a range of audiences and confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications. You will act as an ambassador, encouraging, promoting and supporting the involvement of people with lived experience in the design and delivery of Shelter’s and our Partners work.

Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups. We have supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Community Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

About the role
The role of the Peer Community Innovation Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. Your team will build and develop this ‘peer support community hub’. This will include annual in person celebrations.

Your team will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community. 

Managing a national team of three, you will develop a strategy and operational plan to build on and mobilise a new peer support community.

The type of person we’re looking for:
Dynamic and people-centred, this role is about innovating and developing a supportive community of peer support group leaders nationally in person and online. You’ll understand the power of relationships and be an excellent communicator. You’ll understand how communities hold their own power and your team will help unlock that. Innovation is key to the success of the Hub and you’ll ensure you’re using best practice and learning to develop it.

An excellent communicator, you’ll develop external specialist partnerships to support group sustainability. You’ll ensure through the National Peer Support Connector role that peer communities are connected and engaging with the new National Kinship Care Ambassador to share insight and best practice.

We do this by leveraging the skills and passion of researchers and STEM professionals to support young people from low socio-economic backgrounds to achieve their potential and progress to careers in STEM.

Duties and responsibilities

The purpose of the Senior Programme Officer role is to support the successful delivery of the In2STEM Programme and ensure our young people have an excellent experience.

Your specific duties will include:

Programme Delivery

• Managing a caseload of students and volunteers from application stage to successful completion of the programme, including recruitment, placement matching, onboarding, event planning and programme delivery (in-person and online), troubleshooting throughout the programme and evaluation.

• Where appropriate, supporting the Programme Manager as the first port of call for programme staff with enquiries or needing advice relating to pastoral care for our beneficiaries.

• Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with partners and funders to further the delivery of our work. This will include for example, working with schools, colleges, academic and professional services staff at universities.

• Creating and developing engaging resources to support the programme including video presentations, posters/flyers, case studies and website text and images.

• Monitoring student and volunteer applications to ensure targets and milestones are met.

• Maintaining up to date records via the programme database and ensuring data protection.

• Ensuring all operations are in line with Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Evaluation

• Developing programme activities, using student and volunteer evaluation data and staff insights.

• Optimising systems, processes and ways of working, to ensure delivery models are scalable and achieve intended outputs and outcomes to the highest degree of quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.

• Maintaining a comprehensive overview of programme activities, among both staff and partners, and reporting on progress at regular intervals as defined internally and contractually.

• Supporting team members to create evaluation and student data reports.

• Supporting the creation and dissemination of case studies, working closely with the fundraising team to ensure funder requirements are met.

Deputy Managing

• Managing the In2STEM team when the Programme Manager is not working, including preparing and running programme update meetings from time to time.

• Supporting and assisting the Programme Manager to ensure organisational and delivery targets are achieved.

Person Specification:

Essential

• Track record of experience directly supporting vulnerable young people and/or adults with a range of support needs, including mental health needs, learning difficulties and disabilities, facilitating access to other support services as needed.

• An understanding of the social and economic barriers that prevent some young people accessing STEM careers and an ability to recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM.

• Knowledge and understanding of the STEM sector, including higher education, apprenticeships and STEM careers.

• Experience of delivering projects for young people including recruitment and caseload working.

• Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation skills and an ability to adapt to a range of audiences.
