The Robin Cancer Trust is looking for two Community Engagement Officers to help make our vision of reaching every young person in the UK with our life-saving cancer campaigns a reality. Overview:
- Salary: £15,000 (FTE £25,000)
- Hours: 21 hours per week flexible working between 7am and 7pm (evenings and weekends as required)
- Location: Home-based in in Midlands or North East but this is an outreach role so you'll be out and about in the community raising awareness.

Job Purpose
The Community Engagement Officer will work as a core part of our Service Delivery team. The role will lead work to coordinate and deliver community-based activities, using evidence-based approaches, to support early diagnosis of germ cell cancer. They will engage younger adults face-to-face (through a variety of methods including training, awareness raising and outreach activities) to provide information on germ cell cancers, cancer prevention, self-examinations, and early signs and symptoms.
Key Responsibilities
- To build a deeper and more localised understanding of the population in their region and develop effective approaches to engage communities of younger adults who may be underserved by cancer education in order to break down barriers to early presentation.
- To deliver key cancer-related health messages through a variety of methods, for example providing cancer education and awareness presentations to community groups, community talks and delivery of awareness-raising activities.
- To support other public health initiatives and cancer awareness outreach activities across their region.
- To develop awareness of signs and symptoms of germ cell cancers amongst young adults and encourage people to seek earlier medical intervention.
- To support recruitment of Survivor Ambassador Volunteers and support them to be involved with cancer awareness activity where appropriate.

About the role:
This role is a hybrid working role based in Merton Civic Centre.
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
You will need:
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.

There are 5 hostels in the cluster ranging from high, medium to low support which are all based in the borough of RBKC.
The Heaney Cluster an intensively supported housing scheme for the most challenging customers in the borough. The majority of the customers come with a history of entrenched rough sleeping; often coupled with enduring mental health difficulties. The aim is to offer a home to those who would have difficulty finding accommodation because of their lifestyle choices involving extreme drug and alcohol misuse. The high support hostel caters for eleven service users with complex needs and is staffed 24 hours a day with the minimum of three staff on duty. The medium support services are staffed from 9am to 9pm where the customers present with varying degrees of mental health issues. The Assessment Centre is staffed 24/7.
The hostels are in close proximity to each other, and staff will be expected to work across the units. Three of the hostels supports both male and female customers and one is males only.
Heaney Hub implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, particularly those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.
Support Workers will devise person centred support plans with customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet their needs and goals. This will include sign posting them to the local drug and alcohol services to address substance misuse issues. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

Well House is a crisis house supported accommodation service that supports individuals for between 14 and 28 days as an alternative to requiring hospital admission for their mental health needs. The service works closely in partnership with a multi-disciplinary team in order to meet individual needs, manage risk and support individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure members of the local community are able to access critical mental health support at all hours. The service receives referrals primarily from a local hospital emergency department and crisis lines, and may receive these referrals at any time of day or night.

Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking a Senior Independent Sexual Violence Advocate to provide an effective and professional service to LGBT+ people facing violence and abuse.
Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.
We run a national support helpline for LGBT+ victims and survivors of: domestic abuse; hate crime; rape and sexual abuse; and so-called “conversion therapy”. We provide advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.
We use what we learn through working on the frontlines with clients to work on national and local policy change, to improve outcomes for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence. We build evidence through key pieces of research, like our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence. We push for legislative change, improved statutory guidance for victims, and better understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people around the country.
Galop is looking for an experienced practitioner to provide effective support to LGBT+ victims and survivors of sexual abuse and violence in the UK. You will work within the advocacy team to deliver advice, support, and advocacy to LGBT+ victims and survivors of sexual violence. You will act as a specialist lead within the advocacy team on sexual violence, including providing support, advice and expertise to your colleagues and externally.
You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT+ people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services. You will use your expertise to represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the community.
You will have expertise in delivering needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focussed and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team.
