As a Policy and Campaigns Assistant, you will support the Campaigning, Policy, and Public Affairs Team in achieving their strategic goals. Your contributions will help develop our campaigning community, keep our records and communications up to date, and produce impactful, tailored communications.

You will be the primary point of contact for policy and campaigns enquiries received via email, phone, and post. This role involves monitoring and maintaining the policy and campaigns sections on our internal and external websites, as well as our social media channels. You will assist in drafting content for publications, online platforms, and promotional materials for events.

Managing and maintaining databases for contact management will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will support national and local campaigns and assist in planning and delivering campaigning events. Additionally, you will help organise communications for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on MND, involvement and advisory groups, and policy focus groups.

What are we looking for?

We seek an organised, proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for making a difference. Your role will be crucial in ensuring our campaigns reach and resonate with our audience, driving forward our mission to support those affected by MND.

Demonstratable campaigns experience is important. You should be adept at using digital and social media to promote campaigns and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, from senior politicians to local volunteers.

You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing for diverse audiences. Being a good team player is essential, as is the ability to plan and coordinate events. Strong computer skills, including database management, are required.

Flexibility is key, as occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary. You must also be able to travel to external meetings and events.

An understanding of health, social care, and welfare structures in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland is desirable, as is knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases like MND. Experience with digital campaigning software and parliamentary processes would be an advantage.

Role Purpose

The role holder will be part of the Operations & Transformation Directorate reporting to the Head of PMO / Change and Delivery Lead.

The incumbent will have a pivotal role in the management of change, implementation and continuous improvement projects, mostly in the digital and IDS sphere. The role holder will help to ensure the work is aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation, promoting the team’s relevance and value. Working on a broad spectrum of digitally focussed projects, this role will partner with the senior management team and other internal stakeholders.

Key Activities

• Project Management of Mobilisation and Implementation projects covering systems, continuous improvement, and strategic projects
• Creating project plans & mapping dependencies from bottom-up in collaboration with key stakeholders
• Define and track project milestones and ensure dependencies are understood and accepted by the relevant owners
• Report on the status of projects and ensure the appropriate governance and compliance is applied
• Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of a complex range of initiatives and/or projects
• Act as Project Manager by planning, supporting, facilitating and monitoring progress of activities, ensuring that delivery is on track, as well as establishing mitigating activities where risks and issues may arise.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

• Significant and demonstrable project management experience (3-5 years) in a multi-project environment, from inception to implementation and closure
• Extensive experience delivering complex projects with strategic change component
• Experience managing projects through multi-disciplinary teams
• Project/Programme qualification e.g. APM, PRINCE2, MSP; experience working with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills (verbal, written and listening)
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and proactively
• Resilient and able to handle ambiguity
• Personal, relatable character, able to build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders

Social media

• Maintain Blagrave’s social media accounts, and work with the wider team to ensure a regular social media presence for Blagrave.
• Research, create, and publish content for Blagrave’s social media platforms. This includes writing, getting approval and scheduling content, and creating appropriate imagery that is engaging and aligned to Blagrave’s style guide.
• Proactively monitor our social media channels, responding as relevant.
• Monitor social media outputs of other charitable foundations and youth organisations to inspire and inform Blagrave’s communications output.
• Strengthen Blagrave’s digital output/presence and reach by tracking analytics via monthly reporting on social media performance, making recommendations of how we can engage with audiences more effectively

Research and Evaluation Manager (Maternity Cover), Together for Childhood 

Child abuse is preventable if we all work together. This is our belief. It drives us. Our purpose is to work with communities to fight for every childhood. 

Together for Childhood at the NSPCC is our place-based initiative working with local communities to make them safer for children. We work with local partners and families to come together to prevent abuse and tackle the problems that cause it through systems change. Join the Together for Childhood team as a Research and Evaluation Manager (Maternity Cover) and nurture the development and implementation of meaningful research, evaluation and learning work. 

Do you have the skills to lead and grow excellent research and evaluation work? 

• We're looking for an experienced researcher/evaluator to support and mentor embedded research and evaluation teams in the design and implementation of central and local Together for Childhood projects.
• The candidate will also be interested in the strategic development of Together for Childhood's evaluation and learning framework.
• Excitingly, this role will also have opportunities to contribute to the NSPCC's wider research and evaluation work, to help build the evidence base that can stop child abuse.

This is a 14-month maternity cover and will start in September 2024. We expect to be interviewing in early July. The interview process will have two stages to ensure recruitment panel representation from diverse NSPCC perspectives, and will cover both a competency-based and value-based interview. Competency-based interview questions will be shared in advance, in line with the NSPCC's inclusive recruitment approach.
