Job description

We are looking for a Senior HR Adviser to join our team. This is an opportunity to make an immediate and lasting impact with your strong generalist knowledge – and prove your passionate belief in the wider contribution that HR can make.

Greenpeace UK is an independent national/regional organisation within the global Greenpeace campaigning network, which acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. The global network of Greenpeace organisations comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International.

In this role, you’ll be delivering high-quality, proactive advice and support across key HR policies and processes, including diversity and inclusion, recruitment, wellbeing support, people and performance management.

We'll also expect you to take on project work contributing to strategic objectives, and to continually promote and improve HR services to meet organisational needs and boost the effectiveness of Greenpeace as a whole.

Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. Reasonable adjustments as well as specific office based needs will be considered for those with long term health conditions and disabilities.

Job requirements

What we're looking for:

  • Strong generalist HR experience to build effective professional relationships and provide wide-ranging advice to staff and managers.
  • CIPD qualification and/or evidence of professional operational experience to equivalent standard.
  • The ability to identify, manage and report on HR metrics to inform HR solutions.
  • A creative and analytical approach to HR problem solving, with the ability to critically appraise HR policies and processes and suggest improvements.
  • A solution focused mindset and always striving towards making progress towards the HR Strategy.

We give you:

You’ll be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, taking advantage of the wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our staff. We offer great benefits such as a generous pension scheme, subsidised lunches, free yoga and a wealth of well-being resources, just to name a few. Take a look at our Work for Greenpeace pages to find out more about what it’s like to work for us and why you should apply.

Our commitment to diversity: Greenpeace UK is committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in environmental and campaigning organisations and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people of colour; people with disabilities; people who identify as being LGBTQIA; people who have a mental health condition; and people who identify as working class now or in the past.

To Apply

For further information, and to apply please visit our website.

Greenpeace UK is an inclusive and diversity-friendly employer. We value difference, promote equality and challenge discrimination, enhancing our organisational capability. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age or any other category protected by law.
