While working collaboratively with our CEO, dedicated team of staff, trustees and directors you will support and oversee the activities of our organisation and have oversight of board and committee activity and decision making.

Time commitment:
Our Trustees and Directors provide a valuable and positive contribution, building on our strengths and ensuring our results are sustained. There are currently 9 Trustees / Directors within the Group who bring a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience to the organisation.
You will attend an average of 4 Board meetings and up to 4 Committee meetings a year, plus Trustee / Director away-days & other events, such as AGM. Meetings are held outside regular business hours and are mostly online. Events (including strategy days, AGM and service user get-togethers) usually take place at our offices in Croydon.

Trustees
Term: Trustees will be appointed for a four year term and can serve consecutive terms.
Remuneration: Currently, the role of Trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although reasonable expenses may be claimed.
Attendance: We expect Trustees to be able to attend all board meetings, our annual strategic away day and engage with Agenda Alliance in other ways. - Help shape the strategic direction and provide leadership to Agenda ensuring that we have maximum impact for women and girls
- Fulfil all legal duties and responsibilities of a trustee and ensure sound governance and financial health of Agenda
- Ensure that Agenda operates within its charitable objectives and that decisions taken are in the best interests of women and girls at risk
- Establish and build a strong, effective, open and supportive relationship with the Chief Executive and other staff
- Act as an ambassador for the charity

Main duties and tasks

What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a background as a chartered accountant, with experience of risk and strategy. An experience of working with public sector or charities and an understanding of charity finance will be desirable.

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. About the role
As Youth4Youth continues to grow, we are focusing on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the Charity. We are seeking 3 - 4 experienced individuals to join the Board of Directors of a new Commercial Trading Subsidiary (Y4Y Trading Ltd, yet to be incorporated). This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to have a material impact on the success of the wider charity by promoting and ensuring commercial excellence throughout all commercial activities.
Responsibilities
- Attend 4 to 6 Board Meetings per year, each up to 1.5 hours in length and will be held remotely via teams.
- Hold ultimate authority, in line with all management agreements between Y4Y Trading Ltd and Youth4Youth Ltd, to ensure the success of all commercial activities.

The role

In joining us as a Trustee on the Board you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with our strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations. The Role:

As our current Chair of Trustees completes her 6 year tenure, we are looking to welcome a new chair to continue her stellar work in governance and strategy.

2025 is a pivotal time for our small, family centred Charity as we move into our 22nd year. This year our Board will be defining our new mission and preparing for implementation. The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) is a small multi-award winning, family-centred charity, delivering both in-person and virtual interventions and experiences in the UK - these moments-in-time are called Muscle Dreams, designed specifically for children & young people (8-28yrs) with the muscle wasting disease, Muscular Dystrophy (MD).
MHF’s impact is felt by beneficiaries and their families across the UK – from improved confidence, greater self-esteem, and an increased sense of hopefulness to a powerful shared identity that connects families, giving a platform to share knowledge, memories and establish lasting friendships.

REQUIREMENTS + KEY CRITERIA
Commitment to the charity’s values, bags of enthusiasm, an understanding and passion for our work, great comms skills and a real desire to want to make a difference to the lives of our vulnerable community. You may have experience of living with muscular dystrophy, other disabilities or life limiting conditions, but this is not essential.
MAIN BOARD MEETINGS + EXPENSES
Trustee Board meetings take place virtually. They are usually 2hrs. Over and above this time commitment, trustees on average, depending on their role, may give additional time in being directly involved in occasional ad projects – MHF Trustees ‘own’ a ‘bucket’, in other words, an area of responsibility like HR, Fundraising, Safeguarding, Marketing, Finance, Digital, Risk or Campaign Management that allows an individual to bring their skills, experience and talents to the charity. Reasonable expenses will be covered.

Nominations Sub-Committee (NSC)):
The Nominations Sub-Committee (NSC) is a Board Committee of both Amnesty International United Kingdom Section (‘Section’) and Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust (‘Trust’).
The purpose of the Nominations Sub-Committee is to assist the Amnesty International UK Section and Trust and staff. It oversees the recruitment and election or appointment of Chairs, Vice Chairs, and the Chief Executive, ensuring that these persons hold the required expertise and experience. NSC shall work to ensure that AIUK’s governance and SMT are diverse, inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assess the skills and experience of candidates for elected positions on the Board, in the light of identified needs. It will inform the Members of its assessment, in order to assist their decision-making.
- Assess the skills and experience of applicants for Board appointments and nominations, in order to provide recommendations to the Board.
- Advise the Board on induction and training requirements, of a general or specific nature, that will support an individual’s development and effective contribution.
- Work with the Board, Board sub-committees and Trust to understand leadership needs and the skills, knowledge, diversity and experience requirements.
Time commitment:
- The Nominations Sub-Committee shall meet at least two times per year but may arrange any additional meetings that are required to discharge its responsibilities
