Who we are

Martin James Foundation is a global network of organisations working in alternative care for children and believe that children should grow up in safe and loving families, not in orphanages. Through our affiliate organisations and partners around the world, we focus on deinstitutionalisation, a global movement to end the era of orphanages, which research shows cause significant harm to children. Making this substantial change requires reforming the ways that children are protected, including preventing unnecessary separation of children and families in the first place and ensuring there are safe alternative solutions available for those who are unable to stay together.
