About the Operations and Facilities Assistant role
We are seeking an Operations and Facilities Assistant to work closely with the Senior Operations & Facilities Manager to ensure the effective and efficient running of the organisation’s administrative systems and day to day activities.
This role supports the work of the whole organisation – acting as our receptionist, as well as supporting on a wide range of administrative tasks across HR, systems, IT, and building management.
The Operations & Facilities Assistant will often be the first point of contact for the internal Helpdesk, playing a key role in responding effectively to enquiries, as well as supporting key projects within the Operations and Facilities team.
About you
We’re looking for someone with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and well as good project management abilities. You’ll need to be able to manage multiple competing priorities, have strong research skills, and be keen to learn and innovate. You’ll be a good problem solver and have strong judgment as well as an awareness of risk. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care, and be prepared to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly talked about. You’ll need to understand the impact of trauma and how that affects our frontline staff.

What you’ll be expected to do:
- Assess and support people for 12 months who have been through homelessness, placing them in stable jobs and safe homes
- Build partnerships with businesses willing to work with Standing Tall to employ people who have been through homelessness
- Recruit, train, and support Standing Tall’s Amici Hosts to provide safe homes for people who have been through homelessness
- Having responsibility for Standing Tall’s operations and activities in Bristol.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Volunteer recruitment – Conduct advertising and recruitment to ensure that there are enough people applying to volunteer at CoSS; ensuring people seeking sanctuary are aware of the opportunities available and able to access them.

Inductions – Lead and further develop inductions for new volunteers ensuring that these sessions are well attended and are accessible to volunteers from all backgrounds.

Initial support - Support new volunteers to start volunteering at CoSS and facilitate an initial probation period during which more support is available to each volunteer.

As the Policy Manager for Marie Curie Cymru, you will play a central role in shaping the policy environment and advocating tirelessly to improve care for people with a terminal illness and their loved ones.
In Wales, we know that too many people at the end of life don't have their needs met. Whether it's being supported to manage their symptoms in the community through timely access to palliative care, affording to warm their homes, accessing benefits advice, or responsive bereavement support for their loved ones. With finely tuned political skills, you'll know the challenges of shifting the health policy landscape in Wales and you'll be ready to find new ways to shape change.
As part of the role, you'll be the lead for policy development in Wales, bringing together evidence, ideas and lived experience to give policymakers a clear understanding of the issues facing people with a terminal illness. You will be encouraged to spot opportunities to talk about end of life care in Wales with policymakers, the media and general public.

About this key role
This multi-faceted role will see our successful candidate produce monthly management accounts for St Giles Trust with commentary and key performance indicators, monitor and report on budget and prepare financial forecasts and projections, plus prepare monthly schedules such as deferred income, accruals, and prepayment in accordance with accounting policies.
We will also count on you to monitor expenditure and income and support budget holders in managing the delegated budget by providing monthly reports on income, grant, and expenditure and to monitor the organisation’s expenditure and income, as well as supporting managers with the preparation of funders’ monthly or quarterly reports on fund usage. Coordinating the year-end financial accounts and supporting the Head of Finance to ensure a smooth process and being point of contact for all financial systems related matters are also key aspects of the role.
What we are looking for
• Experience of in-year reporting and monitoring key performance indicators
• Experience of working with non-finance managers on financial issues
• Experience of managing the payroll process
• Experience of preparing management accounts returns for funders, reconciling fundraising figures to budgets/actuals on financial systems
• Strong accounting technical knowledge (debits, credit, accruals, deferred income, etc)
• Ability to use Exchequer or similar financial system and experience of Sage 50 Payroll or similar payroll software
• Ability to explain technical accounting terms to non-finance managers
• Excellent IT, interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

As Complex Needs Practitioner you will engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
Birmingham Young People’s Service provides holistic support services for young people 10 to 25 with needs related to alcohol and substance misuse, including those that are affected by a family members alcohol and substance misuse.
The purpose of the role is to engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
All Complex Needs Practitioners are expected to work days, evenings, and weekends across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings, when required. Which will need a flexible working pattern from the successful candidate. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health, social care, education, youth provision, and criminal justice.
As an energetic and confident self-starter, you will have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above, Dip SW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the health & social care field, education settings, alcohol, and substance misuse fields with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care.

The Role
A key part of this role involves conducting research on situations where lawyers are at risk and drafting advocacy documents, including intervention letters, reports to the UN Universal Periodic Review, treaty bodies and special procedures, research reports and written evidence to parliamentary committees, as well as internal briefings and reports to officeholders and committees.
Collaborating with colleagues, the policy assistant conducts advocacy at the United Nations and regional human rights bodies, as well as with UK parliamentarians and Government departments such as the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Ministry of Justice. They represent the Law Society at external meetings with a range of stakeholders and partners and assist in organising visits and events related to the lawyers at risk and capacity building programmes.
What we're looking for
Given the importance of research in this role, you should be able to conduct reliable and relevant research into complex issues with the ability to translate that research clearly and concisely in policy papers.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to enhance and implement our communication strategy to broaden our engagement with different audiences.
You will need to collaborate with a range of people across the Law Society, as well as with external partners and stakeholders. Tact and diplomacy when working with colleagues and engaging with a range of individuals is crucial.
It is essential that you can work independently with minimum supervision while prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop as part of a team.

About Fundraising at CARAS
CARAS offers holistic early-action support to refugees and people seeking asylum, ensuring individuals have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in the UK. Founded in 2008, we have co-created our thriving adult and youth services in partnership with CARAS community members over the last 16 years and now run a thriving weekly provision of social and educational programming delivered alongside wrap-around casework support.
The growth in our service has been underpinned by great success in fundraising which has allowed us to consistently grow year on year, with our current annual budget now standing at approximately £750,000. Fundraising is led by the Head of Development and Impact. The creation of the Fundraising Officer role is an exciting new step for CARAS, providing us with the opportunity to get to understand our supporters more deeply, and build meaningful new partnerships with businesses and investors across many sectors to improve the outcomes for individuals with a refugee background across south London. We are seeking a creative, motivated worker who has ideas for how to support a thriving organisation, helping us build new relationships and partnerships that will support CARAS to maintain and adaptive and iterative approach towards our work to ensure that person-centred support is available when new-arrivals need it most.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, skilled at relationship management and familiar to individual giving. They will need to be able to build corporate partnerships, develop and deliver campaigns that drive support from our donor base, create fundraising events that bring our work to life, and build and maintain effective donor stewardship and retention journeys that create proximity to our work. About the role
This role focuses on scaling CARAS’s unrestricted income portfolio, building CARAS’s support base to sustainably increase our income. Working closely with the Head of Development and Impact, this will include:

The Research and Communications and Events Lead is a key post in the Research Management and Impact Team at Marie Curie with the purpose of disseminating the outputs, outcomes and impact of Marie Curie funded research as widely as possible to a multitude of internal and external audiences. This includes taking the operational and communication lead on organising our annual Marie Curie Research into Practice Conference which has increasing international reach. This is an essential event in the Marie Curie research calendar, online, free and open to all, with the aim of communicating new research and evidence in palliative and end of life care to practitioners, policy makers and researchers in the field.
The post holder will communicate extensively with internal teams, such as policy, communications, fundraising and caring services and build and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders, such as funder researchers and partner organisations, to maximise the visibility and impact of Marie Curie funded research.

Who are we looking for?
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has experience of working in the social housing sector and would like a new challenge. You should be experienced in setting rents and service charges in a social housing setting, preferably a supported housing environment.
You will lead the Rent Setting team and be responsible for line management of the Service Charge Officers, setting direction and ensuring compliance with the relevant regulatory guidance around rent setting. You will need to be an experienced and proficient user of the Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
Working in our Rent Setting team provides an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other teams across the organisation, and really get to understand the business and increase your network. The role will give you the chance to showcase your problem solving and analytical skills, while being able to make decisions to provide great service to our service users.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and develop a clear model and methodology for setting and reviewing rent and service charges, ensuring a full breakdown of charges and evidence base linked to the budget is produced for each property.
- You and your team will lead all rent reviews periods and will apply different charge methodologies for services where appropriate.
- Set the annual review timeline for rent increases and be responsible for keeping that on track, ensuring that all stakeholders (internal and external) are fully aware of any deadlines and requirements.
- Liaise with Local Authorities to ensure rent charges are approved at the appropriate levels, and maximising income where rent is HB eligible.
- Act as the initial lead for disputes with Local Authorities over charges, escalating to the Housing & Rent Setting Manager where there is no resolution or further support is needed.
- Carry out top level analysis on a regular basis of budget spend against charge recovery to feed into any budget reforecasting and the annual rent increase.
- Embed an approach of continuous improvement and development of processes within the team, while contributing to the Rent Setting Policy and Procedures reviews
- Ensure there is effective co-ordination and communication between the Operations Teams, Property Teams and the Rent Setting Team so that charges are accurate and recoverable via Housing Benefit.
- Act as the Lead for Rent Setting with our managing agent RSL partnerships.
- Own and set direction for your team to deliver the organisational and local priorities and ensure that this is replicated through your management chain.

Main purpose of the post:
