Based in the Project Management Unit (PMU), you will play a crucial role in delivering the project support that the PMU provides to the institute.

About the team

Part of our Equity, Inclusion & Culture Directorate, the Lived Experience Insight Team delivers a programme of local and national involvement activities to ensure the views of those affected by the housing emergency shape and influence all of Shelter’s work. People with lived experience are involved in a range of different ways, through forums and events in local communities, sharing their story as part of campaigns, and speaking out about the issues that affect them. This helps ensure that our services and campaigns are developed alongside local communities and so that lived experience informs everything we do.

This role will focus more specifically on our GROW (Getting real opportunities of work) Traineeship Programme – a programme designed to provide 12-18 months employment opportunities for people who have experienced multiple disadvantages and exclusion. The programme is focussed on breaking down barriers to employment by embedding lived experience within the workforce and supporting systems change. These placements provide a range of support, learning and development to really support our GROW Trainees within their working environments. All of our traineeships also include a ‘move on’ phase with the goal of supporting trainees to secure future employment. Our GROW Traineeship programme is key to Shelter’s strategic aims of putting people with lived experience of the housing emergency at the centre of everything we do.

About the role

This role will lead the delivery of Shelter’s national GROW Programme, and we’ll rely on you to oversee the programme and employability focussed activity, ensuring that the right structures and resources required to facilitate our traineeships are in place. You’ll also ensure that the programme is centred around lived-experience, as well as anti-racism and inclusion principles. What’s more, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Shelter, to build on learning from the programme and further expand our employability offer across Shelter.

You’ll support your team to not only meet their objectives and develop their skills but to deliver high quality well-being and development opportunities for our GROW Trainees. What’s more, you’ll be comfortable to provide expert advice on lived experience employability, creating resources, guidance and training and also supporting stakeholders to embed lived experience across their work. Empowering our GROW Trainees to use their experiences in order to influence the design and delivery of Shelter’s work will also be a part of your role, as will scoping opportunities for GROW Placements across the organisation providing opportunities to further embed lived experience. With experience of managing and leading on an employability, learning and development, or lived experience programme, you’ll be passionate about ensuring people facing exclusion and disadvantages are supported and included in the work we do. What’s more, you’ll be a confident leader with people management experience, and an ability to influence and build successful relationships with a range of stakeholders.

You will also have knowledge of employability best practice and the ability to apply this to our GROW Programme management and development to make sure we continue to support our GROW Trainees. As well as this, you’ll be competent in using a range of IT to support your work, and experiences of budget management would be desirable.

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Legal Officer to advise and help improve the representation of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and help change the asylum and immigration system to one that treats everyone with compassion, dignity and respect.

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with valid practising certificate, or already accredited to Level 3 OISC, with two years’ experience in providing advice and representation in asylum including working in legal aid.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the legal advice service. Under the guidance of our Legal Service Manager, you will also build capacity amongst legal representatives by designing and delivering training, giving second tier advice and developing and coordinating a network of practitioners working in this area. You will use the knowledge you gain in this role to help deliver Rainbow Migration’s policy work, such as inputting into policy papers and meeting with partner organisations when required.

We will also consider applications from people who do not want to do the policy elements of the job, but to instead focus on first and second tier advice. Please mention in your covering letter if you are applying for this option.

This is a unique opportunity to build on your experience as a lawyer to improve representation across the sector and create change in government policy and practice. You will be supported to develop as a specialist lawyer and in your policy skills.

Responsibilities will include:

· Deliver one-off advice to adult LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and work with colleagues to refer them to quality legal aid and pro bono lawyers

· Contribute to policy and briefing papers

· Assist with preparing guidelines and briefings for legal services and pro bono lawyers

Board meetings and time commitment

The Board ordinarily meets four times per year in March, May, August and November. Two of these meetings are held remotely via video call on a Saturday, and two are held in person in London across weekends. An appropriate time commitment will be required over the course of the year for preparative work between meetings. The Food Policy Officer role:

As our Food Policy Officer, you will support the charity’s activities in relation to food policy and information with a focus on maintaining Coeliac UK’s food standards and food information

Key responsibilities of the Food Policy Officer:

About the Role:

This role is a hybrid working role and is based at our office in Shoreham-by-Sea for a minimum of one day a week. As a Senior Caseworker in the Hate Crime Team you will:

• Effectively lead and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active hate crime service for victims and witnesses.

We are excited to advertise a new post for our growing employment and learning support service - The Greater Manchester Education, Training and Employment Service (GM ETE).  Our delivery will support the Probation Service’s service users into quality learning and employment opportunities. 

If you have experience of working with disadvantaged people, people on probation or prison leavers - we would love to hear from you.

The job will involve working with people in prison to engage them in learning, training and employment opportunities, both through one-to-one and group work. You will be based in both HMP Hindley and Forest Bank.

You’ll need to be proactive, a good communicator and able to manage your own caseload.  The successful candidate will have experience and/or skills to deliver group work to people who have faced disadvantages.  You will be effective at working with partner organisations to ensure the best results for our participants. Recording of accurate information on participant plans is an important part of the job, so you’ll need to be comfortable working on databases and systems and have a strong attention to detail. 

Together with the prisoner, you will set an action plan, arrange ETE goals for custody and appropriate plans for when he/she is released.

You will make plans with the community-based Key Worker for a handover, arranging for a 3-way meeting upon release in their local probation office, which might be in any of the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. You will be paid for any accrued travel expenses.

Essential job duties

· Complete initial assessment appointments with all new referrals.

· Create action plans outlining activities to be undertaken with service users.

· Motivate service users to engage with the programme and attend appointments.

· Effectively case manage service users.

· Deliver interventions as outlined in the action plan.

· Signpost service users to specialist support organisations for further support.

· Tailor support to suit service user needs and learning styles.

· Effectively liaise with Probation Practitioners and prison staff.

· Attend a prison several days a week, engaging with potential new participants.

· Liaise with the prisoner’s Probation Practitioner, asking for a referral via HMPPS case management system.

· Attend the prison resettlement boards.

We are especially looking for applicants who can connect with people to help move them forward, can network with partner organisations and research new opportunities for the people on your caseload. As well, you will have the skills to work towards individual performance outcomes.

We’ll give you all the training you need to do the Key Worker job and provide you with support to get established in the new role.

Employment is subject to successful Enhanced Level 1 clearance via Shared Services Connected Limited (SSCL), which is the vetting required of all probation and prison-based staff. This will be arranged with you.

About the Role

The Finance & Administration Assistant is a newly created role that will provide various parts of the organisation with administrative support, as well as some receptionist duties. This dynamic role will sit within the Finance team and report to the Director of Finance, however it will directly support the areas of Administration, Finance, Fundraising, and three different Service Delivery functions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative tasks

• Manage external communications through post, telephone and email, ensuring information is redirected to the relevant person to be dealt with efficiently and effectively.
• Support service/department managers with necessary purchasing.
•  Keep up to date record of monthly invoicing information for services and liaise between the Senior Finance Officer and the Service Managers to ensure this system is running efficiently and effectively.

Finance related tasks

•  Manage Petty Cash transactions on site, ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept at all times, and perform the bank runs.
• Collect and check monthly debit card and credit card reports with all necessary Purchase Invoices and PO’s from the card holders.
•  Assist the Finance Officer in processing expenditure: checking Purchase Invoices against PO’s, ensuring that all authorisations are in place, and posting expenditure on the QuickBooks database.
• Assist the Senior Finance Officer in sending out statements to overdue Debtors from QuickBooks.

Fundraising related tasks

• Process donation payments received via cheque, cash or PayPal and similar platforms onto the Beacon database.
•  Assist the Fundraising Manager in keeping the Beacon database up to date with donations/grants received, gift aid eligibility and forms, and grant contracts.
• Instigate periodic thank-you letters to donors.
