About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Sense's engagement team at this exciting time, as Head of National Events. You will be leading the National Events team to deliver against Sense’s ambitious strategy, inspiring and supporting the team. This Includes: 

• Support of a £1Million plus London Marathon Event
• Support the Event Managers in delivering 2 new bespoke events 

You will drive the creation of a national events strategy to ensure a balanced portfolio of challenge events and support innovation, and creative thinking to further drive income growth and lifetime value across the events portfolio at Sense, delivering impact for people with complex disabilities. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead, motivate and inspire the Events team, a team of 4 at present
• To carry out the relevant people management for the team including recruitment, annual appraisals, motivating performance, management of sickness absence and, where necessary, applying HR policies and procedures
• As part of the Engagement Leadership Team, work with peers to provide inspirational leadership to the broader Engagement Directorate
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Engagement Directorate and wider organisation including Digital, Trading, and Volunteering, to deliver fully integrated supporter engagement activities
• There will be a requirement for travel and to work unsociable hours at events with occasional overnight stays in the UK

Strategy development and implementation

• Lead on the development of a National Events' three-year strategy and operational plan to drive growth and create a balanced portfolio of Event offerings
• Oversee the delivery of in-year National Events plans including all marketing and stewardship activities to ensure budgets and targets are achieved
• Manage the Events budgets, ensuring net income is achieved and appropriate mitigation plans are in place where necessary
• Review and interpret research and data to make evidence-based decisions that improve activities within the Events portfolio 
• Produce regular reports on progress against the strategy with the delivery of key performance indicators for the Associate Director of Public Fundraising, Group Director of Engagement, CEO, Executive Team, Trustees and other stakeholders as required

We are looking for an experienced Head of Individual Giving to focus on growing the active supporter database and income generation across all individual giving activity for an important charity.

About the Role

The Head of this team will recruit and look after all fundraisers and donors giving up to £10k. You will drive an ambitious step change in donor acquisition and donor experience, embedding a culture of innovation, business process, responsiveness, and ambitious growth. You will continue and grow our acquisition strategy to ‘recruit’ patients and loved ones to support the organisation.

You will develop and lead a fundraising and stewardship strategy for all of the organisation’s fundraisers and donors giving up to £10k. You will proactively grow our patient fundraising programme by developing a mass recruitment and engagement strategy for the organisation’s patients and staff. You will also develop a loyal supporter base by providing an efficient gold star service to all supporters from the first point of contact, through systems-driven operations.

The role will allow you to have a strategic and practical impact, and you will lead a small team (with the potential to grow) including functions that cover income generation through our appeals, and supporter acquisition through new and existing products. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues in the communications team, community team, and data and insight.

Key skills required for this role include:

• Leadership experience at Head Level.

About Lepra

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. We have just finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.

Background & Context to the Consultancy

Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.

Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy

The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:

Strategy Transition Leadership

• Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
• Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.

Operational Plan Management

• Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
• Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.

Support Existing Research Profile

About Victoria Hall Harrow

The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets. 

For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more. 

More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities. 

In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

This is an exciting time for Royal Museums Greenwich.  Having experienced a strong recovery after the covid pandemic, we are transforming our site, beginning with the National Maritime Museum, where a project is already underway to make essential improvements to the glass roof glazing of the central court area.  A more substantial project is being developed to renew and transform the Royal Observatory.

To support this, the finance and procurement team is in a period of growth, and over the last couple of years we have been focusing on budgeting, forecasting and providing high quality management information to the organisation.  We have also strengthened our financial controls. 

As such, we are looking for a strong Financial Controller with robust technical skills to join the organization in a newly formed role and to take the financial accounting and transactions team to the next level.

Over the next two years we also have a unique opportunity to replace our finance systems which will allow us to become even more efficient.  The outcome from this project will allow us to streamline a lot of our processes and more easily provide high quality, timely management information.  The Financial Controller will have the opportunity to be involved in this project and to help shape the future of the finance function.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Creating and maintaining a high performing and customer focused financial controls team, covering all aspects of finance accounting and operations;
• Overseeing the day-to-day financial controls and procurement operations of the museums;
• Supporting the design, implementation and review of processes and procedures to create efficiencies and improve effectiveness of the function.

The successful candidate must be a professionally qualified accountant with a driven and proactive approach and robust technical skills from the Charity, Commercial or wider Public Sector. You will have strong experience in managing year end audits and an in-depth knowledge of VAT. You will be a self-starter, with proven problem solving ability.

This is an exciting time for Royal Museums Greenwich.  Having experienced a strong recovery after the covid pandemic, we are transforming our site, beginning with the National Maritime Museum, where a project is already underway to make essential improvements to the glass roof glazing of the central court area.  A more substantial project is being developed to renew and transform the Royal Observatory.

To support this, the finance and procurement team is in a period of growth, and over the last couple of years we have been focusing on budgeting, forecasting and providing high quality management information to the organisation.  We have also strengthened our financial controls. 

We are looking for a passionate interim Head of Finance to lead and provide high quality support to the finance function for 18 months while the permanent Head of Finance is seconded to a change programme.

The Interim Head of Finance will sit on the Senior Leadership team and participate in the decision making at the museum.  They will also lead on providing financial support to the major capital projects and to the Trustees on financial matters, especially the Audit Committee. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

· Leading on budgeting and forecasting for the organization;

· Delivering a strong customer-facing business partnering function, providing a high level of financial analysis;

· Overseeing the process to produce the annual statutory accounts, leading on the relationship with the NAO and other key stakeholders;

· Managing, motivating and developing a medium sized team.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with experience gained in the Charity, Commercial or wider Public Sector. You will be analytically-minded with excellent organisational and project management skills. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, flexible in approach but firm when necessary, who can work on their own initiative and thrives when thinking and acting proactively. You be able to communicate complex financial information to stakeholders and possess the ability to influence and build rapport with a range of finance and non-finance persons across the organisation. Enthusiasm for the sector is a must.

• Offer policy analysis and advice to help identify priorities and entry points for engaging with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate engagement in relevant policy processes and opportunities related to the implementation of the Global Report and Guide for Action process at the country level.
• Build strategic partnerships and alliances with key actors at the national and regional level to promote health equity, including governments, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, health sector partners, Civil society and relevant bilateral and multilateral agencies.
• Ensure continuity of information sharing across Sightsavers and act as a point of contact for WHO Disability team and WHO regional and country offices.
• Promote the integration of health equity into national long-term strategic health plans and support the development of Sightsavers' policy analysis on health equity.
• Identify and leverage influencing opportunities at national and global levels in partnership with WHO.
