Job description

Family Worker

Location: Exeter, EX1 2NJ

Salary: £24,020 - £30,790 per annum

Contract: Full time Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00

This is an exciting opportunity to join Humankind's team, supporting service users and families affected by substance use.

The Role

They are looking for someone who is passionate about people, able to offer advice, information, assessment, and ongoing support, promoting health and wellbeing, developing resilience and self-confidence, helping them to thrive.

They are looking for someone who is hard working, flexible, and able to work with service users on-site and in the community.They welcome people with lived experience, and those with experience of working with other partner agencies such as schools and Children's Services. 

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Manage a service user caseload, devising, implementing, and reviewing on-going care plans and support, liaising closely with the full range of workers and skills within the service team, including treatment and criminal justice.
  • Conduct initial triage and comprehensive assessments with service users.
  • To lead effective case management for allocated service users, including on-going processes such as risk assessments, risk management plans, safeguarding assessments, and plans. This includes the effective use of an online case management system.
  • To improve outcomes for children, parents/carers, and families of services users by reducing the impact of drug and alcohol related harm on family life and promote positive family involvement in recovery.
  • Identify and prevent potential harm to service users and others by following local and organisational safeguarding guidelines, including referral to and engagement with relevant safeguarding authorities.
  • Working closely with other agencies and developing a presence for Together Family Work in the community.
  • Working with other Family Workers across Devon and supporting where required across service.
