Senior Quality Assurance Officer
Location: Remote (UK based) with travel required
Salary: £34,200 (Grade 4) per year (plus Inner London Weighting of £3,483.94, if eligible)
Length of contract: Fixed Term Contract 12 months

Purpose of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer role:
As Senior Quality Assurance Officer, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting and innovating Women’s Aid’s National Quality Standards (NQS) offer for member services. Sitting within Women’s Aid’s busy Membership Team, the postholder will successfully lead in supporting member services to continually improve and evidence good quality specialist responses to survivors’ needs in local service provision and will support the internal team alongside external consultant assessors to deliver a strong quality framework that reflects the diversity, and complex work of our members. A key time for Women’s Aid to connect our policy work, our membership and our strategic campaigning work around the standards that fully represents the unique value of the membership body.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer:
- To be responsible for the coordination of delivery of Women’s Aid National Quality Standards assessments including ensuring assessment processes are completed in a timely manner.
- Scheduling Quality Assessment Panels including recruitment of panelists. This will include responsibility for ensuring terms of reference are fulfilled and ensuring potential conflicts of interest are identified and addressed.
- Presenting assessments to the Quality Assessment Panel in the unavoidable absence of the assessor and notetaking including recording outcomes, actions and decisions where required.
- To support the Chair of the Quality Assessment Panel in conducting panel meetings and highlight areas of risk or conflict to the Chair in advance of meetings.
- Be first point of contact for dealing with appeals and complaints, managing low to middle-risk complaints and escalating to the Membership Resolution Manager as required for high risk complaints.
- Responsibility for allocation of assessments to internal and consultant assessors ensuring target dates are met and operational considerations, such as location and conflict of interests, are considered.
- To conduct quality standards assessments of domestic abuse services, including reviewing evidence, making site visits, writing assessment reports and presenting cases to the Quality Assessment Panel.
- Review of assessment reports for quality, adherence to standards and consistency prior to presentation at Quality Assessment Panel, including giving feedback to the assessor and ensuring this is actioned.
- Develop a clear strategy and delivery plans to support the sustainability and growth of the Women’s Aid National Quality standards including supporting increase of income-generation activities.
- Line management of Quality Assurance Officer including day-to-day support, supervision and appraisal activities.
- To work across WAFE to promote the Women’s Aid National Quality Standards to commissioners and government as the ‘gold standard’ quality framework for services working with women and child survivors of domestic violence.
What we are looking for in our Senior Quality Assurance Officer:
- Knowledge of quality frameworks appropriate to domestic violence services.
- Knowledge and proven experience of the principles of quality assurance and good practice in delivering accreditation processes.
- A very good understanding of the experiences and needs of women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence and violence against women and girls and the intersectionality that impacts this
- Thorough understanding of the role of specialist services supporting women and children at risk of violence against women and girls
- Experience of writing and producing briefings and reports
- Experience of planning, delivering and managing projects within a set timeframe and with clear outputs.
- Experience of providing and/or managing direct services to survivors of violence against women and girls.
- Excellent verbal, written and computer literacy skills.
- Ability to analyse complex information and identify the implications for women and children affected by domestic violence and the services supporting them.

As a Technical Specialist, you will focus on providing research and technical support on GBV across a number of SDDirect’s projects. This role as Senior Practitioner within our Domestic Abuse services will provide housing advice and advocacy support to LGBTQ+ people who require housing support to leave a domestic abuse situation or require longer-term resettlement. Main duties
Direct Line Management

- To liaise with other service providers ensuring service users receive thenecessary support to sustain their accommodation, acquire relevant independentliving skills, maintain or improve positive physical and mental health, and accessmeaningful occupation of their time.
Liaison with Landlords / Other Agencies
- To support service users to report repairs and work with landlords and advocatewhere necessary.
- To support service users to contact local authorities, and voluntary and privatesector landlords to report anti social behaviour issues and advocate wherenecessary.
- To support service users to present to local authorities as homeless, whereappropriate, and advocate where necessary.
Other duties
- To establish and maintain accurate and complete records in all areas of work.
- To complete statistics for the collation of performance and funding information.
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and regulations in relation tofunders and other key areas.

Position: Refuge Service Manager

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and dedicated Service Manager to join our team in Islington. The role involves managing three refuges within the London borough of Islington, providing high-quality, trauma-informed support and accommodation to women and children who have fled domestic abuse. This position requires a strong leader capable of managing conflicting priorities in a busy environment, while ensuring that survivors are at the heart of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Delivery: Oversee the Islington refuge service to ensure compliance with contract requirements, internal standards, and relevant quality marks. Address safeguarding concerns in line with policies, and ensure team and individual work plans are in place and monitored.
- Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and motivate staff and volunteers through line management support, coaching, mentoring, regular team meetings, case reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Performance Management: Manage staff performance by effectively using the case management system, setting and communicating performance targets, monitoring performance against service KPIs, and supporting staff to address under-performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain effective relationships with other organisations, identify training and development opportunities with key partners, and act as an ambassador at key meetings and forums.
- Policy and Financial Management: Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, support the development of the annual budget, review management accounts, and maximise local fundraising opportunities.

About the Service
Hertfordshire Mind Network has had a Domestic Abuse Service in Three Rivers since 2017. The aim of the Domestic Abuse Casework Service is to provide advice, information, and support to survivors of intimate partner or familial violence living in the community about the range, effectiveness, and suitability of options to improve their safety and that of their children. All advice will be based on a thorough understanding and assessment of risk and its management.
About the Role
You will be line managed by the Domestic Abuse Service Team Leader for Hertfordshire Mind Network but will manage your own workload, prioritising tasks and working on your own initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the wellbeing of clients who are affected by domestic abuse.
- Improve risk management and safety for clients
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients
- Contribute to a reduction in repeat victimisation
- Reduce the number of victims withdrawals of witness statements
- Increase the reporting of children at risk of harm
- Put any necessary safeguards in place
- Increase successful court outcomes by proactively supporting clients
- Work with other professionals e.g. police, health, social care, housing, and signpost and liaise with such agencies as necessary
- To agree and record safety plans made with clients as well as suggesting other alternate appropriate areas of support to ensure clients are receiving some sort of support or engagement with services.
- Receive referrals and undertake appropriate risk assessments and make direct contact within 48 hours of referral.
- To refer to the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) if required and local IDVA service.
- Work with the wider team within Hertfordshire Mind Network and support clients in accessing additional support e.g. counselling, peer support, employment support and self-development courses.

Job Purpose
