Working closely with colleagues from across the organisation and our contacts within the community, the successful applicant will support the external communications of the charity, helping to extend the reach of the charity. Raising awareness, developing donor and supporter relationships, working with the Directors to identify and develop funding streams.

The role:
As a Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer, you will play a vital role in helping our charity manage and develop relationships with our donors, supporters and our existing key relationships, whilst identifying and creating new relationships in our local areas to garner support and promote our services.

• You will be responsible for delivering activity to maximise fundraising from our community, including schools, individuals, local businesses and community groups. You will proactively recruit, grow and nurture supporters, empowering them to manage their own fundraising activities.
• You will manage our annual challenge event programme from supporter engagement, assisting fundraisers journey and utilising tools to maximise supporter’s impact.
• Crucial to your role will be building strong and lasting relationships with supporters, colleagues and volunteers, positively engaging with members of the public and maximising all fundraising opportunities.

What you’ll do:Principle duties and responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the delivery of effective Community Engagement and Fundraising.
• Actively promote all aspects of Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere to local businesses, schools, community organisations, volunteer groups, and individuals.
• Motivate and influence supporters to independently manage their own fundraising activities, with your support, being the main contact for supporters.
• Work closely the Business Support Officer to manage and create social media content to promote fundraising activities, relationships with supporters and the relationships you build in the community.
• Prepare and deliver individualised communications, presentations and assemblies for a diverse range of audiences.
• Attend and run activities at a variety of community events when required, to ensure a strong presence from Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere in the communities where we support.
• Identify and implement new fundraising opportunities and initiatives.
• Work closely with the other Community engagement and fundraisers, building on local knowledge, sharing best practice and creating a peer circle of support, including peers from HSUK our parent company.
• Act as an advocate within the community. Uphold our values, and communicate with enthusiasm, credibility, conviction and knowledge.
• This role will require occasional weekend and evening working.
• Keep up to date with all fundraising legal implications.
• You will be responsible for creating our quarterly newsletter, working with the rest of the team, to engage with our supporters.
• Create Bi-monthly board reports on the growth of community engagement, communications and fundraising, which will go directly to the trustee board. Occasional attendance at board, building a relationship with a trustee identified to manage fundraising.
• Annually, you will lead on the creation of the annual report and social impact reporting working across the team.
• Creating strong relationships with local magazines and identifying and managing news tools to ensure that we are sharing our successes and informing our audiences of our services. Occasionally creating press releases for campaigns and building a network of people to help share our news as far and wide as possible.
• You will also be involved in the updating of our website, working with the Business Support Officer and volunteers to ensure our website remains the best tool to advertise what we do.
• Creating and nurturing a small group of fundraising support volunteers to help facilitate events and share our story in the community.

What you’ll bring:Experience

• Preferable, fundraising experience of 1 year, in a community engagement or fundraising role in the charity sector.
• Demonstrable experience in building relationships within the community and with fundraisers.
• Demonstrable experience in managing your own income budget and monitoring expenditure against agreed targets. Analysis of income data, identifying trends, evaluating activity and ROI, and ensuring key learnings and insight are fed into planning and budgeting of future activity as appropriate.
• Demonstrated success in coordinating events, campaigns and initiatives.
• Familiarity with donor databases, CRM systems, and fundraising software.
• Able to provide direction, energy and capability to lead fundraising volunteers at community events.
• Understanding of fundraising principles, best practices, and ethical standards.
• Knowledge of Community Engagement and different fundraising channels.

The Discover DeCrypt Trustees wish to appoint a self-employed fundraising consultant to undertake fundraising to achieve at a minimum the matched funding target (circa £92k) for submission of The National Lottery Heritage Fund Round 2 bid for The Sanctuary Project in St Mary de Crypt Church, Gloucester. The work will need to be carried out between July 2024 and July 2025 with all matched funding pledged by that end date and any surplus funding contributing to unrestricted reserves.

Introduction Discover DeCrypt undertook a major Heritage Fund project between Jan 2018 and March 2022. This capital project saw the reimagining of the church and adjoining Tudor schoolroom buildings. The project saw the Victorian pews removed (and repurposed), a lift (sympathetic to the buildings) installed, new toilet facilities, new heating system, new fire and intruder system, new lighting scheme and a new kitchen. Underfloor heating was installed within the nave and a new floor laid. The schoolroom was made safe and usable as it had reached the point where it was unsafe for the public to access. There was new interpretation in both the church and schoolroom.

An important aspect of this project was community outreach as the buildings sit within the city centre and had lost much of the original congregation and community. After the initial capital phase, three years of operational support was designed to help embed the charity within the community through volunteer recruitment, workshops, activities, concerts, art exhibitions and theatre. The church has also grown over this period, with regular services, weddings, funerals, and christenings.

The Sanctuary Project is the next phase of the Discover DeCrypt Story. It will see the conservation and interpretation of important Mediaeval and Tudor Wall paintings, Mediaeval stonework, and Victorian stained-glass windows. As well as the conservation work, the Sanctuary area and the elements within it will be researched and interpreted for the visitors to understand and enjoy. A very important part of this project is community engagement and audience development including giving students and the wider public access to conservation and heritage skills.

• Give talks and presentations about the charity’s work and its fundraising activities. In addition manage and supporting NOAH Ambassadors, FR Groups and FR Volunteers to do the same.

As the new Community & Events fundraiser, your experience and skillsets and attributes will include :

• Previous fundraising experience gained in a not for profit organisation, across any income stream.

• Events management experience preferred but not essential.

• The ability to work autonomously and without direction, using own initiative.

• Previous experience of building relationships.

Reach out to Scottish primary and secondary schools and youth settings in the central area of Scotland.

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community/Events fundraiser, who has a passion for the cause of homelessness. You will continue to build a sustainable Events & Community fundraising programme. The role will involve building relationships with donors and fundraisers to increase income from corporates, individuals, and legacies. 

This role plays a pivotal role in growing York Road Project’s voluntary income as well as raising awareness and brand recognition in our local area. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Chief Executive and Fundraising sub-committee to develop and implement a fundraising strategy and execution plan that meet the organisation's income targets.

• Support the Chief Executive in building relationships with major donors.

• Proactively seek out and develop new funding opportunities, with an emphasis on chasing opportunities for long-term and unrestricted income. 

• Develop a York Road Project annual fundraising event/campaign, overseeing all administrative tasks, such as mailing list preparation, guest lists, and distribution on campaign items.

• Promote ‘challenge events’ (such as the Surrey Half Marathon) and encourage supporters to take part.

• Encourage supporters to leave legacies in their wills to support the work of the organisation.

• Collaborate with other colleagues and trustees to ensure a coordinated approach to fundraising.

• Accurately record and manage donor data, keeping records up-to-date and GDPR compliant.

• Promote the idea of regular donations to our ad-hoc donors.

• Stay current on fundraising trends and techniques, act as the charity’s thought-leading expert, and drive these trends and techniques into the organisation's fundraising activities.

• Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with relevant regulation and ethical 

standards; for example, The Fundraising Regulator, The Charity Commission etc.

• Create marketing and promotional material in accordance with York Road Project branding, to support fundraising activities as required.

• Develop a volunteer program to enhance community involvement and contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives. These activities will be fundraising related, in order to engage local businesses.

• Identify opportunities to develop funding support from companies and organisations to elicit support (at local, regional, and national levels).

• Manage low risk press releases and enquiries.

• Create content for social media (and other digital channels) while always ensuring consistency in line with brand guidelines. 

• Plan and drive digital campaigns including Small Charity Week and World Homeless Day.

What you will be doing as a Senior Trust Fundraiser:

• You will proactively and strategically develop national and regional funding bids, leading Kids relationships with a varied portfolio of funders.
• You will create and coordinate cross organisational project development groups and manage diverse priorities and input to craft national fundable projects that support the organisational strategies.
• You will build on relationships with existing supporters, working with service delivery staff to evidence impact in narrative and quantitative reports on funded projects and developing strategic applications to secure further support.
• You will ensure there is professional account management for all funders including updating on relevant developments within Kids, and to providing a range of opportunities to engage further with Kids work.

Personal qualities / experience required for the role of Senior Trust Fundraiser:

• You will have a minimum of two years’ experience as a trust fundraiser and a strong understanding of the sector
• You will have excellent written communication skills and the ability to craft coherent and compelling cases for support based on varied and complex information
• You will have an understanding of budgets and feel comfortable fielding questions about charity finances
• You will be confident in managing stakeholder relationships with a varied audience and have the ability to be responsive to different communication preferences and expectations
• You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills plus the ability to correspond with external and internal audiences
• Experience of using Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (UK charity number 1146220)

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS), was established in 2011 in response to a specific request from local community leaders to help them build and develop a girls’ residential school in South Sudan.  Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS) now educates 360 primary and secondary school girls from across the whole of Western Equatoria State and employs 40 staff (teachers, matrons, cooks and other support staff). The school is on a large, green campus and provides not only high-quality teaching but a visible demonstration of the benefits of school education in South Sudan, where most girls leave school before the end of primary and very few achieve secondary qualifications.  FIGS is a relatively small organization but it is making a substantial impact by providing a model of good quality girls’ schooling across South Sudan.

FIGS has achieved notable successes – the school which opened in 2014, initially with 40 girls, has now reached its full size of 360 girls, with excellent exam results and has reduced dropout from school. It is nurturing empowered women who can exercise leadership locally and nationally for this newly independent nation. FIGS works closely with the experienced and widely-acclaimed Windle Trust International, who provide technical financial and organizational support to the school in South Sudan. 

FIGS has raised about £4 million over the last 10 years, particularly through relational fundraising.  Running costs for a boarding school in South Sudan are around £ 1/3 million each year, so fundraising is a key task for FIGS.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced fundraiser with a strong and demonstrable track record to play a crucial role in expanding the donor base of FIGS, while sustaining and engaging the large network of existing supporters and donors.  You will lead the fundraising work and will use your skills across a wide range of fundraising functions, including expanding the number and range of individuals, corporates, philanthropists, schools, churches, legacies and trusts. 

We need the help of a talented individual to implement FIGS’ fundraising strategy and action plan, working with those Trustees who are able to give some time to fundraising and with solid help from a part-time fundraising consultant.  There is plenty to enjoy in the varied work, where one can see visible results in the impact it has on the school, its students and staff, parents and communities across Western Equatoria State and across the nation of South Sudan.

The post can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis (where part-time is at least 3 days a week).  It will be on a self-employed consultancy basis.  Hours can be flexible by arrangement. The person will work mainly from home, liaising online with Trustees and others, but some travel to events in London and elsewhere will be needed on an occasional basis. We are looking for someone to start as soon as mutually convenient. A contract will be one year in the first instance, and can be renewed subject to satisfactory performance.  The remuneration as a self-employed person is in the range of £35-42K dependent on track record and experience (or pro rata). 

Key responsibilities

· To support the delivery of the fundraising plan, achieving or exceeding targets and KPIs, both financial and non-financial as agreed with the Chair of FIGS Trustees and Chair of its fundraising group.

· To identify and generate new fundraising opportunities, from the corporate and philanthropic sectors, as well as from organizations, groups and individuals

· To widen the existing network of donors, based on relationship development and management and engagement with existing supporters and donors, and creating new opportunities

· To generate a pipeline of activities across a range of fund-raising streams

· Develop strong relationships with all external stakeholders. 

· Produce progress reports for FIGS Trustees about fundraising in relation to targets and budget and make recommendations for future streams of work.

· Attend key fundraising and supporter events to generate significant income, support and profile.

· Be an ambassador for FIGS.

· Ensure fundraising activities are in line with FIGS’ values and policies, relevant legislation and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice.

 Collaborate closely with parish priests and lay leadership teams to offer fundraising support and implement Planned Giving campaigns. Liaise with parish and central finance teams to monitor the results of these campaigns, devising reports for the Head of Communications and Chief Operating Officer

• Guide and advise parish leadership teams to craft messages and communications that support fundraising and engage donors. Create and maintain core materials (including leaflets and documents) to support parish fundraising, reviewing these with the Head of Communications and arranging the logistics for their delivery

• Support the parish in localising core materials so that they reflect the financial picture of the parish and include facts, messages and images that are specific to the community

• Liaise with colleagues to ensure Gift Aid and data protection wording are correct and compliant. Prepare thank you letters and other materials as required

• Support parishes with the implementation and promotion of Contactless Giving, troubleshooting as and when required

• Help parishes with special appeals for capital projects. Research and write grant applications to trusts and foundations on behalf of parishes and the central Diocese

Support parishes and the central diocese in implementing a legacy strategy and support the Head of Communications in developing a strategy to engage high net worth donors in support of the mission of the Church

• Represent the Diocese at national meetings of the Catholic diocesan fundraising teams. Liaise with national colleagues to share and develop best practice and to access Continuing Professional Development

• Undertake other tasks to support colleagues within the Communications Team as required, such as proofreading, website updates, preparation of copy and images for the website and social media etc. 

The Internet of Production (60%) and the Global Innovation Gathering (40%) are looking for an experienced grant fundraiser and writer to help us with applications and build and grow our work.

The Internet of Production is a UK charity that brings together a global alliance dedicated to building a future of decentralised and distributed manufacturing. We seek to enable a sustainable and globally networked system of production; to complement mass production and global supply chains with ‘production by the masses’ and local enterprise.

The Global Innovation Gathering is German non-profit association that brings together a vibrant, diverse community of innovation hubs, makerspaces, hackerspaces and other grassroots innovation communities with individual innovators, makers, technologists and changemakers.

The Grant Fundraiser will be employed by the Internet of Production and part-funded by the Global Innovation Gathering.

Grants will usually be £50k to £500k, and larger grants will also be sought in consortia with existing partners in the Internet of Production Alliance and the Global Innovation Gathering. Our funding proposals are usually focused on creating opportunities for others in our networks – whilst maintaining the core of our organisations.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Write and submit grant applications, including narratives and any additional materials (such as detailed budgets, budget justifications, workplaces, monitoring and evaluation plans, logical frameworks, pitch decks, etc).
• Work closely with the CEOs of the Internet of Production and the Global Innovation Gathering (also successful grant writers) and with inspiring networks of visionary experts to design exciting, effective and fundable concepts and projects for grant applications.
• Plan appropriately to best fulfil a pipeline of grant opportunities, where some opportunities may be very short notice and some may require months of co-authoring.
• Assist with seeking out and prioritising potential grant opportunities from around the world.
• Develop a master bid document or other grant application tools and manage and maintain grant application files and folders etc for each organisation.

Person Specification:

• Extensive experience in roles that included significant grant writing.
• Experience of Horizon Europe grants, research funding or other large consortia grants.
• Exceptionally effective and clear writing style, with excellent English, including when under time pressure. Ability to speak German could be helpful but is not required.
• Understanding or appreciation of issues/sectors including poverty, resilience, climate change, economic development, digitalisation, localisation, environmental sustainability and ‘green’ initiatives, etc, would be very helpful. 
• Understanding or appreciation of innovative approaches and technologies, particularly those relating to grass-roots community building, experimentation, co-creation, open-source, networks, Internet, making/manufacturing, creativity, etc.
• Excellent time management, organisational and team communications skills.
• Commitment to working in a small organisation and in a highly diverse team.
• Skilled with Microsoft 365 and Office tools, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.

Beating Time is a charity with a difference. We run two programmes.

Choirs Beating Time runs weekly choir year-round in 9 prisons, building positive communities and improving mental health and inclusion. Over 1000 people have sung with us in the last 10 years. Through the support of our singing groups participants develop crucial life skills, rediscover a non-criminal identity and meet people who believe in them. Through performances they also have the opportunity to spend better quality time with their family.

Inside Job, is an Employment Consultancy with a difference. It was co-created by a serving prisoner, who is very much part of our Team, and the Charity, Beating Time. Recognising the huge barriers people who have served a sentence face to re-entering the workplace, we realised a specialized service was needed. A service which collapses the space between Employers, who want to use their recruitment policies to achieve social impact, and people who are serving/ have served a prison sentence.  A service which understands those challenges and works collaboratively to remove them. Employment reduces reoffending by 50% - this is a job worth doing.

About the role

This is a new role that has been created to sit within our London office, working closely with the senior management team as well as our community team. You will get the opportunity to visit our prisons and see first hand how we work, what we do and why it is so important.

Our funding comes from several sources including from Trusts and Foundations, and prison contracts and donations. We are looking for somebody who can continue to build strong relationships with our funders but also find and develop new funding opportunities to help grow and maximise our income.

We will offer extensive training and will fully immerse the right candidate into every aspect of our charity. This role will also strongly link in with the planning and delivery of our strategy and policies.

An interest and appetite in the work will outweigh previous experience.
