The position:
As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, leading all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media.
A social media wizard with strong working knowledge of social channels, you’ll implement a digital strategy focused on engaging and converting our community to take action for animals.
This role reports to the Digital Communications Manager.

Hours:
This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.
Who you are:
You will be passionate about The Humane League’s mission of ending the abuse of animals raised for food. With an attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills in English, you’ll have a keen eye for persuasive and punchy copy and an ability to adapt your tone of voice.
You will have a supporter-centric approach to communications, responding to comments and messages from a place of care and empathy. This will be paired with an ability to work with data and analytics to assess results.
You understand what audiences want to see from different channels, and how to get cut through and attention on each one.
You are a whizz with editing tools and can create compelling, dynamic content that hooks people in and keeps them watching.
While working with autonomy is an important part of your role, strong collaboration and communication skills are paramount to your success. And, you’ll be able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities:

Ownership of our social media channels, posting content regularly that is tailored to each channel and ensuring each channel’s features are used to create the biggest impact for our supporters.

Planning and building social media campaigns that strategically integrate goals and consider metrics.

Updating the communications calendar.

Create inspiring concepts and develop these into compelling, on-brand, platform-specific content using tools like Canva.

Social media community management including moderating and responding to comments and messages.

Regularly monitoring social trends to create topical content.

Using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook insights, and Sprout Social to report on post performance and monitor and evaluate success, on a monthly basis.

Design, run, and monitor social media advertising campaigns to grow and mobilise our network.

Keep up to date with new features and tech related to social media platforms, as well as other organisations’ activity, to ensure the most engaging and effective content.

Encourage and assist staff members in producing social media content, supporting them with creative and technical guidance and giving feedback.

Contribute to other communications activities such as website and PR content, as necessary.

Attend events, protests and actions as necessary.
In addition:

Update the wider team on social media progress and insights.

I’m looking to speak to a communications and PR/ media professional with experience working for an international development animal charity, looking to join an advocacy led charity as Head of Communications and Campaigns. In this remote based role (with ad-hoc travel to London), you will pro-actively develop and drive work to generate PR coverage and awareness for the charity, and ensure working animals are represented in the global news agenda.

The Mare and Foal Sanctuary rescues abandoned, neglected, or abused horses and ponies, offering them sanctuary for life. In each of our five peaceful sanctuaries in Devon, we unlock a world of natural, wild beauty where horses, ponies, and people who were struggling can enjoy life again.
Our compassionate and knowledgeable team cares for nearly 200 horses and ponies at our sanctuaries. We’re looking for a brilliant, proactive and resourceful Communications officer who is passionate about raising awareness and support for a leading working animal charity. We are looking for someone resourceful, tenacious and empathetic, who can pro-actively deliver and support communications and campaigns projects and activities, ranging from press releases and digital content to publications and media content. You should be creative and passionate about delivering impactful work, with a proven ability to be highly organised and manage your own workload.
The opportunity
The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) is the charity for the working animals of the world. Since 1923, working through a series of global projects and partnerships across 23 low-income countries, SPANA has supported the welfare of working donkeys, horses, camels, oxen and other working animals in communities that depend on them for water, transport, agriculture, and their very survival.
As part of the charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, SPANA is recruiting a Communications Officer. In this role, you will proactively develop and drive work to generate awareness and support for SPANA, and ensure working animals are represented in the global news agenda.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Communications Officer professional, who has a strong knowledge of and commitment to working animal welfare. You will join a fast-paced, agile, and dynamic organisation that is building its global reach and impact to meet the growing need for its support.
Your key responsibilities include:
Media and PR
- Deliver local, national and international PR (both online and offline), supporting awareness-raising, global programmes, emergency, fundraising and advocacy activities and campaigns.
- Implement media plans in line with the global fundraising, marketing and communications strategy and in support of communications KPIs.
- Organise PR engagements and activities for media and other stakeholders as required.
- Produce and distribute press releases, articles, statements, case studies, Q&A sheets, position statements, briefings, press packs and other media materials.
- Identify opportunities for, and support the development of, appropriate content (video, imagery etc) for media release.
- Oversee the production of video news releases or other content for broadcasters and digital media, assisting and supporting the content team in editing footage.
Communications and campaigns
- Work with the Communications and Campaigns team and colleagues to plan and implement strategic communications designed to grow awareness and understanding of the charity’s work and support income generation activities.
- Work with Global Programmes staff to identify and realise potential stories of geopolitical importance (e.g. conflict and security, climate, food security, gender issues).
- Work with the Global Programmes team to realise opportunities arising from advocacy work.
Brand and content
- Write copy for SPANA publications, marketing materials and digital channels, such as the website and social media.
- Work with the Senior Content Officer, in-country teams and freelancers, to develop, catalogue and select content (photography, video, case studies).
- Oversee the production of promotional materials as required.
- Proof copy and review materials against brand guidelines on behalf of staff from across the charity.
Other
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in PR and communications.
- Contribute to SPANA content on third-party sites (e.g. Wikipedia).
- Monitor sector activity and advise key staff of relevant developments.
- Work as part of a team, supporting each other to achieve deadlines and team goals.
- Uphold and promote SPANA’s values.
Your knowledge:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or with comparable press, journalistic or communications on-the-job experience.
- Knowledge of charity/not-for-profit communications.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK media environment, including print, broadcast and digital.
- An understanding international development issues, the importance of working animals and livestock in that context, and the international agencies and NGOs working in this field
- Professional qualifications and training in communications or journalism (desirable).
Your experience:
- Experience of working in a busy press or communications environment, including interacting with national media.
- Expertise in managing both reactive and proactive media relations.
- An experienced writer, with the ability to produce engaging, persuasive copy that is tailored to the needs of particular audiences.

The Organisation
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

The Role
As a Park Officer, you will assist in the management of Greenwich Park, focusing on developing and enhancing contract and service delivery.
Assisting the Park Manager and Assistant Park Manager, you will ensure excellent presentation of the park, safe facilities for visitors and good grounds maintenance.

About You
To be considered as a Park Officer, you will need:
- Experience of managing public accessible places such as parks, gardens, open spaces or nature reserves in compliance with relevant legislation and health and safety practices
- Knowledge of managing urban parks, open spaces or nature reserves in terms of operations, service standards and service improvement
- An understanding of the importance of parks within an urban setting
- A Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Heritage or Conservation

This will involve developing plans and actions to achieve responsible sourcing of seafood with M&S as well as analysing and assessing environmental impacts and identifying suitable improvement work. You will collaborate with food businesses to materialise sectoral transformational changes and advocate for radical reforms of fisheries and seafood related policies at the national, regional and international level. You will commission and manage research and studies to deliver specific seafood programme objectives too. You will also collaborate with colleagues to ensure the deliveries of seafood improvement and advocacy work as well as communicate issues of importance to the seafood programme in-line with our overarching food sustainability strategies.
To play a part in building back nature, you must have a relevant degree or experience of seafood supply chains, aquaculture, fisheries and/or marine science in public, private, academic or NGO sectors. This will have given you sound knowledge of seafood markets and supply chains as well as aquaculture and fisheries policies. WECare’s Head of Fundraising is responsible for supporting the Fundraising team in their efforts to raise funds. We have lots of exciting projects and expansion in the pipeline. We need a Head of Fundraising who can come on this journey with us and help the charity grow whilst maintaining our core values and standards.
Who we are:
WECare Worldwide is a UK and Sri Lankan registered charity set up by veterinary surgeon Janey Lowes. Our mission is to provide international standard veterinary care for less fortunate animals around the world, starting in Sri Lanka. The WECare Team is made up of passionate, dedicated and brilliant individuals who know how to work hard and enjoy ourselves while we do it. We aim to change the outlook for street dogs worldwide, with 75% of the globe’s dog population going without access to healthcare. We want to plug that gap and provide them with a whole lot of love while we do it!
Key responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Strategy Development:
-
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve organisational fundraising goals.

Design and establish fundraising structures, policies, and processes to streamline fundraising efforts and ensure compliance with regulations.

Identify new fundraising opportunities and innovative approaches to expand the donor base and increase revenue streams.
2. Donor Engagement and Relationship Management:
-
Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and potential supporters.
-
Implement strategies to enhance donor engagement and retention, including the development of stewardship programmes, and ensure ongoing engagement, retention, and the growth of regular givers.

Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring seamless logistics and maximising donor participation.

Research and identify potential grants and trust funders to diversify funding sources.
3. Communication and Outreach:
-
Create and distribute quarterly newsletters and appeal email campaigns to engage supporters and donors.
-
Develop and maintain relationships with current sponsors, partners, and key donors.
-
Oversee the 'Sponsor a Dog' programme, ensuring its effectiveness in donor engagement and revenue generation.
-
Optimise the new supporter journey and create promotional materials in line with current brand guidelines.
-
Identify, actively seek, and manage media opportunities, including TV, radio, and social media partnerships.
-
Secure support from UK/ Sri Lankan businesses and establish official partnerships where possible.
4. Fundraising Management:

Manage fundraising events, including securing sponsorship and maintaining strong relationships with venues and their staff.

Support WECare fundraisers with all needs associated with their efforts.

Develop grant applications and supporting documentation.
-
Manage the production of fundraising materials and advertisements.

Oversee the development of merchandise ranges and play a key role in the sales process.
