As a Fundraiser, you will play a crucial role in generating financial support for CAN’s mission and programs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating relationships with donors and philanthropic organisations, and managing fundraising campaigns.
You will work with the Fundraising Consultant to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy which will ensure CAN’s financial sustainability over the next 3 years.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop Fundraising Strategies:
- Work closely with CAN Founders and the Fundraising Consultant to develop comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organisational goals and the 3 year organisational strategy.
- Identify and prioritise fundraising opportunities, including grants, individual donors, corporate partnerships, and events.
- Work with CAN volunteers on developing CAN’s commercial model and associated funding streams.
2. Donor & Funder Organisation Cultivation and Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and steward relationships with existing funder organisations ensuring ongoing engagement and support.
- Identify and engage prospective funders and donors through following funder open calls, targeted outreach and relationship-building activities.
3. Fundraising Campaigns:
- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, including online and offline initiatives, to generate revenue and raise awareness of our organisation's mission.
- Collaborate across CAN teams to develop compelling fundraising materials and messaging.
4. Grant Writing and Reporting:
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, trusts, and government sources.
- Write grant proposals and applications, ensuring alignment with both CAN and funder priorities and requirements.
- Prepare regular reports for funders, providing updates on project progress and outcomes. Project managing the CAN Founders and Staff Team to ensure proper project kick offs, data gathering and sign offs.
- Writing and project managing the creation of funding bids and reports. Supporting on relationship building with funders, with support from CAN Founders, the CAN Staff Team and Fundraising Consultant.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience in fundraising, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and stakeholders.
- Excellent writing skills, with experience in grant writing and proposal development.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Are you a qualified Accountant that’s passionate about using your technical knowledge to influence business decisions? As our client's new Technical Reporting Accountant, you’ll be responsible for the preparation of and consolidation of management and statutory accounts and reports, taking a holistic view of the data produced and how this impacts their customers.
About the role and person:

As their Technical Reporting Accountant, your key areas of responsibility include:
- Preparation of statutory accounts and annual FVA regulatory returns for Homes England for Group,
- Reviewing and updating Group accounting policies, ensuring they are compliant with Housing SORP, Accounting Direction and relevant accounting standards,
- Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts and reports
- Planning and organising the annual budget setting and subsequent forecasts for all Group entities in line with the financial and corporate strategy objectives.
With an Assistant Technical Reporting Accountant reporting into this role, it’s important that you have the ability to lead and develop others. You’ll also work closely with external stakeholders including auditors.
Do you have what it takes to be their Technical Reporting Accountant?
You’ll have:
- A recognised Accountancy Qualification (CCAB).
- Experience of management accounts production and reporting.
- Experience of statutory and regulatory report development
- Great analytical and report writing skills with the drive to take ownership and seek solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Previous experience of team management and development.
- Experience and knowledge of complex financial accounting systems.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- An understanding or experience in the social housing sector.
- A working understanding of Unit 4 finance software or similar Housing Finance systems.

Location: The successful candidate will be required to live within a commutable distance to either their Bradford or Peterborough office. They’re a keen promoter of agile working and encourage the use of working from home, as long as they meet their customer’s needs.
They’ll provide you with the equipment and software that you’ll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriate space to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.
Salary: The spot salary for this post is £63,210 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.

MLC Partners are working with a major conservation charity to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their expanding team. The organisation have experienced significant growth in recent years and have developed both their offering as well as commercial income streams which support the incredible work they do around the world.
Main responsibilities include:
- Support with the production of the monthly management accounts through the ownership of key balance sheet reconciliations and posting of journals.
- Work with the Financial Controller on the preparation of the annual statutory accounts for both the charitable and commercial arms through to final sign off for their annual report.

About the role
Working within our small, dynamic staff team, this role will primarily provide support to the Executive Director in the following areas: communicating the work of the foundation to key stakeholders; lead on and maintaining relationships with trade union groups; driving forward our community grants programme, demonstrating the policy, research and campaign impact of the foundation; general strategic and managerial deputisation.
The role would suit a communications or programmes specialist who is comfortable working flexibly across a number of briefs as befits a small and adaptable organisation. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate an affinity with, and understanding of, the work of the foundation, a flair for messaging, both in print, digitally, and in terms of design, and an administrative and motivational rigour capable of driving forward multiple grant-making programmes with complex timelines.
The role can be either home or office based, but candidates must be willing to spend at least three days a month in our London office.
