Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Summary job description
We are currently recruiting an administrative assistant to support our Donor Stewardship team to ensure effective grant management and fundraising delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and growing team in a support function. Location: The RSS office is in central London and currently open twice a week. We offer flexible working arrangements and office attendance is encouraged but not mandatory depending on the role. Job purpose:
To support the Journals Manager who oversees and manages the full journal development and delivery process. This includes securing excellent relations with publishers, editors, editorial panels, trustees and authors as well as developing journal strategy in conjunction with many of the same stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Support and provide administration for the Society’s editorial panels, Journal Webinar Advisory Group, Discussion Meetings Committee and Publications Network
- Proactively support the editors, chair and members of journal committees and groups as directed by the Journals Manager. This involves developing credible relationships with these stakeholders and the publisher and working to support the Journals Manager to facilitate regular meetings, elicit and disseminate papers, reports and analyses prior to meetings and taking notes/writing of minutes
- Coordinate the process of appointing new associate and joint editors as directed by the Journals Manager and update the membership of journal committees and groups in the Society’s CRM system and other repositories
- Design, develop and deliver a programme of journal webinars, working with the Journal Webinar Advisory Group to select papers, invite the authors and agreed discussants, arrange the meeting and rehearsals, and publicise the events
- Work with team members to promote journal content, news, events and innovations to RSS members
Support journal editorial and production processes
- Liaise regularly with the publisher’s editorial office to ensure the smooth running of the journal peer review process and effective support of editors, reviewers, and authors
- Provide support for the journal production process managed by the Journals Manager and delivered by Oxford University Press (OUP), intervening as necessary to ensure reported problems are quickly and effectively resolved
- Provide reports to the Journals Manager and RSS senior management as required on journal activity plans and performance, including regular collection and updating of journal KPIs.
Journal development
- Support the development and delivery of the annual marketing strategy and associated activity planning by OUP and with other RSS management and stakeholders, including the support of marketing and fundraising initiatives

The Recruitment team currently consists of ~three FTE and fulfils the two key functions of attracting and selecting top candidates for our Charity Entrepreneurship incubation program - as well as possible support for other programs AIM runs or may run. APPLICATION PROCESS
Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). The Operations team provides operational support to AIM (e.g., human resource management, finance, productivity). The team also supports our incubated charities, assisting with their initial set-up after the program so they can hit the ground running, as well as ongoing ad-hoc requests and advice as needed. Added to this, Operations supports other participants in programs run by AIM(e.g., people completing fellowships with our research team). While this is less than for the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, it increases as these programs mature.
Our Operations team currently consists of ~2.8 FTE – our Chief Operating Officer (previous Managing Director and CTO of Founders Pledge), our Director of Operations (with a mixed background in legal services, management consulting, and scale-up operations), and a Senior Operations Manager (with a background in risk and security management in low- and middle-income countries). The team also relies on external contractors for some of its functions (e.g., bookkeeping, legal advice).

Role Summary
Our Project Officers are fundamental to the successful delivery of NEF’s programmes and projects. You will be responsible for core project deliverables, which will likely include significant contact with customers, members and funders of NEF. You will provide advice and guidance to the public through our helpline and case management services, managing a caseload of live customers throughout their end-to-end journey with NEF. You could be involved in any one of our work streams, which could include liaising with people in fuel poverty, young people and those seeking support and advice on how to reduce the carbon foot print of their home.
Alongside this, you could be delivering awareness sessions or training to employers or the public; certainly, you’ll be representing NEF at public meetings and events. Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible
Adhere to Look Ahead's Policies and Procedures
Engage in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned.
Work patterns are over a 7 day shift rota (shift pattern is a mix of early shifts (8am-4pm) and late shifts (2:30pm-10:30pm) . The service operates 24 hours 7 days a week.
All staff members must be confident using IT.
