Group Senior Financial Accountant

A globally renowned Membership Organisation is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join them.
The position has been newly created after a restructure.
Reporting into the Associate Director of Finance.
Overall Purpose:
Lead the process for the production and approval of all consolidated internal and external reporting and statutory accounts. Lead the VAT and Corporation tax accounting and reporting process and the relationship with external tax advisors (VAT and corporation tax) Manage the treasury function and oversee all investment fund management and balance sheet reconciliation. Develop and maintain of the financial policies, controls, systems, and processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the group's finances and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirement.
Produce statutory accounts for the group and subsidiary entities and lead the process for approval and filing.
Lead on all aspects of the audit process, including relationship with the auditors and ensure all queries are resolved in a timely manner.
Produce monthly consolidated reports pack including SOFA/balance sheet and cash flow forecast for board and committees pack including P&L and cashflow.
Ensure month end reconciliations are completed for all balance sheet accounts and follow up on any outstanding actions. Lead on the effective posting and reconciliation of group payroll, pensions, and other intercompany payments, while working with the wider finance team.
Oversee the accounting and administration for all fixed assets, investments, bank accounts and restricted funds, including reporting to the FB and TBAC. Manage the preparation and submission of the group VAT returns within the statutory deadlines.
Lead the relationship with external Corporation tax advisors and respond to all requests from HMRC in a timely manner. Coordinate all external reporting request from National Statistics Office and other regulatory bodies.
Review, develop and control accounting standards and policies.
The Tropical Biology Association is looking for an office manager to assist in the running of the TBA office in Cambridge, administer TBA’s training courses, and support the executive director. The Tropical Biology Association is a small and dynamic NGO based in the David Attenborough Building with a sister office in Nairobi, Kenya. TBA runs a variety of courses that build the capacity of conservation leaders throughout the world.

About You:
Having worked in a third sector direct marketing role previously, you will have experience running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. With your good organisational and time management skills you’ll be able to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities under pressure.
You will have knowledge of usability testing, user research methods and conversion rate optimisation as well as an understanding of fundraising regulator guidance, gambling commission compliance and GDPR.
About The Role
- Manage the delivery of all Retention campaigns from concept through to evaluation, using data and insight to drive creative and production, drawing up schedules, and managing the approval processes
- Work collaboratively with data teams to ensure effective use of supporter profiling for delivery across a range of Retention campaigns
- Manage relationships with external agencies including media houses, designers and printers; to negotiate costs and relevant performance reviews
- Responsibility for collation of all KPI tracking, trend analysis and activity results that feed into the team’s reporting and performance structure
- Work alongside the Content team to research and develop strong cases for support to appeal to existing donors. To gather information, case studies and photos for use in all direct marketing campaigns. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead, motivate and inspire the Events team, a team of 4 at present

About the Role
The Head of this team will recruit and look after all fundraisers and donors giving up to £10k. You will drive an ambitious step change in donor acquisition and donor experience, embedding a culture of innovation, business process, responsiveness, and ambitious growth. You will continue and grow our acquisition strategy to ‘recruit’ patients and loved ones to support the organisation.
You will develop and lead a fundraising and stewardship strategy for all of the organisation’s fundraisers and donors giving up to £10k. You will also develop a loyal supporter base by providing an efficient gold star service to all supporters from the first point of contact, through systems-driven operations.

This role will work collaboratively with colleagues in the communications team, community team, and data and insight.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will deliver effective strategies for regular giving through developing the Art Partners programme – leading all aspects including recruitment, stewardship and strategy for growth, and fundraising appeals and campaigns. You will working closely with the Head of Individual Giving to cultivate individual donors to secure gifts towards Art Fund’s charitable programme.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Implementing and contributing to a robust recruitment strategy to increase the numbers of members and to build philanthropic engagement through refining the fundraising pitch and proposal through to making direct asks
- Developing compelling communications which raise awareness of charitable objectives and identify activity which will have wide appeal among individual donors as one-off asks or long-term fundraising initiatives.
- Working with the Prospect Development Manager to identify and manage prospective individual donors for membership, appeals and individual gifts, then lead approaches to individuals appropriate to their interests and level of giving
- Collaborating to create and deliver opportunities and events to enhance the membership experience through in-person activities, communications and digital development.
- Managing and an income and expenditure budget, and processing, recording and thanking all received donations.
This position would ideally suit an experienced candidate with an excellent understanding of donor cultivation, stewardship, and prospect research techniques. A knowledge of the visual arts or museums would be beneficial but certainly not a barrier to entry.

• Demonstrable business development and engagement skills.
• A good understanding of the UK’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, investors, funding bodies, industry, science parks and other stakeholders.
• Experience of planning and delivering online and in-person events, including training events.

About Lepra
Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. Background & Context to the Consultancy
Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.
Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy
The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:
Strategy Transition Leadership
- Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
- Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.
Operational Plan Management
- Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
- Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.
- Define clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Ensure the plan is realistic, achievable, and aligns with the charity’s objectives and resources.
Support Existing Research Profile
- Review and support ongoing research projects.
- Ensure all research activities are technically sound, within budget, and on time.
- Provide technical guidance and support to research teams.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to staff and partners.
- Ensure that data sets and tools are appropriately designed and employed.
Pathway to Sustainability
- Create a sustainability plan to ensure research expertise is transitioned to and led by in-country professionals.
- Develop capacity-building programmes for local researchers and institutions
- Establish mentorship and training frameworks to support local leadership in research.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, research institutions, and community leaders.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to enhance the research profile and strategy implementation.
- Ensure transparent and effective communication throughout the transition process.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and impact of the strategy.
- Regularly report on progress, challenges, and achievements to the Lepra’s leadership team.
- Adjust plans and strategies based on feedback and evaluation results.
Safeguarding
- Support the implementation of newly developed processes in relation to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA) and Safeguarding (SG).
- Ensure safeguarding measures are integrated into all project activities.
Outputs of the Consultancy
- Comprehensive operational plan for the global research, innovation, and technology strategy.
- Progress reports on the transitional phase and implementation status.
- Technical reviews and support documentation for ongoing research projects.
- Sustainability plan and capacity-building program for local research leadership.
