The Role:

As the Database & Impact Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing, customising, and optimising their case management software, Microsoft Dynamics. You will work closely with stakeholders, including Pragmatiq, the University of Birmingham, and Trust Impact, to enhance data capabilities and build data maturity across their network.

Key Responsibilities:

* Database Development & Management: Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Dynamics for women’s centres. Lead on requirements gathering and improvements to enhance functionality and user experience.
* Training & Support: Train team members and stakeholders on Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI, fostering a positive data culture.
* Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure compliance with GDPR and data retention policies. Lead the annual IT audit for Microsoft Dynamics.
* National Travel: Occasional travel to women’s centres and other locations across the UK (estimated two days a month).

Who We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a dynamic individual with extensive experience in database administration and development, particularly focusing on case management systems. You should demonstrate a strong passion for justice and rights, coupled with exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

This involves:

* Proven track record in successfully delivering complex projects.
* Experience in creating and delivering training materials for diverse stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI is highly desirable, but we can consider experience with similar software.
* Knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements.

About the Role

The Head of Unlawful Detentions is responsible for overseeing Reprieve’s work on unlawful detentions, which comprises detention cases in North East Syria (NES), advocacy work with families of detainees in NES, support to those repatriated from NES, and our Guantánamo and Life after Guantánamo Projects.

Background on Unlawful Detentions Work

Reprieve was one of the very first organisations allowed inside Guantánamo. Since then, we have secured freedom for more than 80 men illegally detained without charge or trial, and we continue to support some of these men through our Life After Guantánamo project.

Reprieve also advocates for the release and repatriation of foreign nationals detained in camps and prisons in NES. We aim to ensure that detained individuals are treated in line with international law, and not subjected to the death penalty, extrajudicial execution, arbitrary detention, torture, or rendition. We also advocate for and support clients and their children after their release from arbitrary detention.

Through our work we aim to challenge and change flawed ‘War on Terror’ narratives and legal and political frameworks – including in the UK, Europe and the US – that engender state-sanctioned discrimination and abuse, undermine the rule of law and human rights, and create two-tiered layers of citizenship rights for ethnic minorities in Western countries.

About You

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies using a dynamic approach in which each of Reprieve’s methodologies—casework, investigation, litigation, political and public engagement, support for and (where possible and appropriate) advocacy with affected communities—connect with one another to achieve positive outcomes in individual client’s cases and address structural rights violations.

You will be enthusiastic about working for an organisation with Reprieve's mission and vision. You will have a minimum of five years’ experience line managing busy and diverse teams. You have significant legal and casework experience and experience managing a complex portfolio of cases. You will also have substantial advocacy experience, an understanding of campaigning, strong writing skills, and excellent attention to detail. 

You are a person with a high level of cultural competency, with direct lived or working experience with communities impacted by the so-called ‘War on Terror’ and/or relevant conflicts. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how racism and institutional discrimination affect our clients. You will ideally have experience working closely with clients, empowering them to play an active role in designing the advocacy and strategy adopted to address issues in their cases.  You will have sensitivity to the risks faced by those with whom we work and a demonstrated commitment to acting in the best interest of clients. You will have professional maturity, flexibility, and a willingness to put clients and Reprieve’s mission above all else.

In addition to being conversant in relevant legal systems, you are abreast of the domestic, regional, and geopolitical developments that impact on detention issues in the areas in which we work. You will also have a good understanding of the political and legal context of human rights violations carried out in the name of ‘counter-terrorism’, particularly in the UK, Europe, and the US, and of gender and trafficking issues. You will have the ability to develop targeted strategies to influence the policies and public conversations in these jurisdictions.

Salary, contract and location

The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance. Reprieve works across a number of jurisdictions; as such this is a role that may require work outside of core hours from time to time.

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and ambitious paralegal to join our exceptional casework team. You’ll be working at the cutting edge of public law in the UK, supporting our award-winning team of solicitors in strategic cases that bring about real change.

Join Public Law Project (PLP) and you’ll be playing a key role in the team that’s currently running the main challenge to the Rwanda policy. PLP’s casework team has successfully challenged the prorogation of Parliament, helped survivors whose assets are controlled by their abuser to access legal aid, and put a stop to the no-notice removal policy affecting people claiming asylum.

You will be supervised by one of our Lead Lawyers, and have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the whole team. This is a fee-earning role, and so is suitable for candidates looking to develop their career. 

You’ll play a crucial supporting role in our casework, taking instructions from clients, drafting correspondence, statements, and instructions, and managing legal aid applications. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Induction 

• Volunteer recruitment – Conduct advertising and recruitment to ensure that there are enough people applying to volunteer at CoSS; ensuring people seeking sanctuary are aware of the opportunities available and able to access them. 

• Inductions – Lead and further develop inductions for new volunteers ensuring that these sessions are well attended and are accessible to volunteers from all backgrounds. 

• Initial support - Support new volunteers to start volunteering at CoSS and facilitate an initial probation period during which more support is available to each volunteer. 

• Administration - Work with the CoSS Administrator to conduct required administration associated with inducting new volunteers and running the volunteer team. 

 Volunteer Training and Progression  

• Volunteer Training – Deliver a wide range of training for the volunteer team that covers key essential areas alongside other training needs that may arise. 

• Training for people seeking sanctuary – Provide additional support to people seeking sanctuary to access a wide range of training and development opportunities. 

• Volunteer Reviews - Conduct regular volunteer reviews and meetings to gather feedback and to celebrate the work of the team.

Volunteer Socials and Personal Support  

• Volunteer Wellbeing - Support the wellbeing of volunteers and provide spaces for them to share and work through the challenges faced. 

• Volunteer Socials - Organise volunteer socials throughout the year. 

• Code of Conduct - Ensure all volunteers adhere to the CoSS code of conduct and manage issues that arise using CoSS's established policies and procedures. 

The Sanctuary 

• Work alongside the rest of the CoSS team, to ensure the smooth-running of The Sanctuary, our unique welcome centre for people seeking sanctuary. 

Additional duties and Line Management 

• The context of our work is constantly changing.  Additional duties that reflect the changing needs of the organisation may be required including possible line management of other staff members.

• A minimum of three years’ major donor fundraising experience for a charity.

Rights & Security International (RSI) is seeking a Team Leader on International Civic Space to help us take our international work to the next level, especially in Latin America and East Africa. The successful candidate will lead our engagement strategy across Global Majority countries while building and supporting coalitions around country-specific projects.

Role overview:

After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.

We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.

This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).

Person specification:

· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.

· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.

· Experience in designing and implementing effective plans to achieve reforms.

· Familiarity with the social and political landscape of at least one country in Latin America.

· A record of drafting and publishing human rights analyses or advocacy documents.

· A strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and solid experience of work in multi-cultural environments.  

Optional qualifications:

· Expertise in one or more of the following areas: counter-terrorism issues, climate justice, migrants’ rights, or technology and privacy.

Are you the Youth Project Manager we’re looking for?

Let’s start with the expected bits of the role profile, just so we all know the basics 

Reporting to:  CEO 

Responsible for:  Development and Delivery of youth work provision

Location:  Cumbria wide (and WFH, ARC HQ, Flexible)  

Salary:  £36,000.00

Why do we need this role? 

Anti Racist Cumbria exists to make Cumbria an anti-racist county. That’s our aim. If we’re serious about doing that we need everyone (or more people than not) to want that too, and to work with us to make that happen. And yes, that means we need the young people who live here to be a part of that too. 

Your job isn’t to run the projects, although there might be some of that at the the start whilst you get things moving (there’s more about that below), your job is to manage them via actions like:

• setting them up

• scoping the costings to enable them to happen 

• working out where the money for this will come from

• figuring out what the team to run them needs to look like

• recruiting the young people to be part of them

You’re not a youth worker, you’re a manager of projects that are driven by youth workers and led by young people.
 

Main duties and responsibilities

Your job will be to build and coordinate projects that the young people want to do in creative ways, and to ensure that the projects meet our aim of becoming an anti-racist county. There is a current team of part time, self employed youth workers who do not work set hours or set days, so a big part of your job will be to work out what you need in terms of people and resources for projects, then work to deliver on that. The projects that you’re overseeing are with, and for, young people, so sessions will naturally take place during evenings, possibly at weekends, during school holidays and sometimes overnight (residentials) in a variety of settings. So you will need to be prepared for varied and often unsociable hours when projects are forming and during their life spans.

It’s also important to understand that although this is a project management role, initially as you start out, it will inevitably involve meeting and engaging with lots of young people. As projects begin to be created you’ll therefore need to be a key part of the delivery team and working directly with the young people. That means you will be delivering for a while as you get things off the ground, but longer term we envision you stepping back from direct delivery once things are up and running smoothly. So if working directly with young people is NOT your thing, even for a short period of time, this isn’t the role for you. Equally if working directly with young people and ONLY working directly with young people is your bag, again this job isn’t for you. 

You will need:

• the ability to manage a team of youth workers and build a foundation based on what good teamwork looks like. You will need to figure out who your team are, what skills they have or don’t have and what they will and can do: whilst assessing what else you might need in terms of support to develop your projects, including further recruitment of staff and volunteers

• to be able to work evenings, weekends and during school holidays yourself and take part in residentials too 

• to get to know the young people who are already involved in ARC youth projects (we have Young Black ARCtivists/TikTok project running at the moment and our Living Whilst Black Youth project is currently on hold but we’d like to see that reinstated in whatever way they young people would like). You’ll find out more about them and develop a relationship with them, as well as strengthening their relationships with the existing youth work team 

• to spend a good amount of your time scoping, exploring and investigating to begin to find out what’s already out there, who is doing what, where and how, and to form new relationships across broad spectrums of Cumbria’s young people 

• to support a programme of projects, ensuring anti-racism is embedded throughout, but at the same time remembering that projects need to engage and meet young people where they are at - with an asset-based approach that puts them at the centre of the work, not a ‘this is what we’re doing’ one. Your 

job is to ensure you and your team amplify their voices, voices which often go unheard or un-listened to, it’s not be their voice per se

• to recognise that it's also important to ensure that whilst the ARC youth programme places young people first, there is no adultification here, projects are youth led, informative, challenging…and fun. 

• to bear in mind that all of this is going to take money, so you will need to apply for small funding pots (and manage the budgets for these yourself) and with the support of the CEO, apply for larger funding pots which you will manage along with the Digital and Ops Manager

• to recognise that your team will look to you for safeguarding and welfare of children responsibilities, so you will need to know what your duties are, stay up to date yourself and ensure you keep your youth work team up to date too. You’ll also need to think about how you deal with issues that might arise during projects and sessions delivering on projects 

• to monitor, record and evaluate work and provide reports and information as required in order to ensure a consistently high quality provision and demonstrate the impact of the projects you are managing.

• to be aware of and adhere to Anti Racist Cumbria policies and procedures, in particular Safeguarding and racial trauma awareness.

You will need to be extremely passionate about anti-racism; we are under no illusions that engaging in anti-racist practice exposes activists (and you will need to be an activist) to an increasingly profound awareness of white supremacy, structural racism and other intersecting structured systems of inequity (i.e. sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism). As such you’ll need to evidence and demonstrate your own anti-racist journey. 

Passion about this work isn’t enough on its own; you need to believe in young people and what they bring to the party, and you need to be creative and high achieving (but not necessarily in a qualifications way). To be our Youth Project Manager you should be knowledgeable and have the following qualities, skills and experience:

• Understanding of national and local anti-racist groups and other initiatives

• Demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety and Safeguarding best practice and how these relate to young people and staff within ARC

• Knowledge of factors affecting lives of young people

• Strong commitment to young people and ability to engage and build positive and professional relationships with all kinds of young people - (just because you are not always directly working with young people doesn’t mean you don’t engage with them, and that engagement needs to be a positive experience for all)

• Strong commitment to an asset based approach and have the creative drive to bring your team (and in turn young people) with you and with us

• Patience, flexibility, resilience and an ability to be resourced both emotionally and physically to do this work (with ARC’s regular wellbeing support topping this up)

• Strong project management skills 

• Along with the knowledge of factors affecting lives of young people (under Knowledge above) in our communities, the ability to provide reliable support to them and your team in times of stress
