Job Information
We have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an exciting new programme, aiming to improve the experience and continuity of hospice care for young people with life-limiting conditions transitioning from children's to adult services.
You will provide clinical leadership of this UK-wide programme, empowering young people, hospices and system partners to overcome the inequities of care experienced by patients and families throughout this transition.
You will become a crucial part of the Programmes Directorate at Hospice UK. This team is responsible for areas of real relevance and importance to our hospices’ membership, including: commissioning support; data, research and evidence; clinical and non-clinical projects; learning platforms: sharing good practice; and a well-regarded and commercially successful portfolio of conferences, including our flagship national conference.
You will bring the clinical leadership needed to deliver this exciting new programme. You will lead our young person’s forum and provide invaluable mentorship to hospices. Supported throughout by our Senior Programme Manager and Team Administrator, you will further develop our Transition Community of Practice and help us collate and share programme data across the sector. You will lead on partnerships and strategic relationships, with Together for Short Lives and other decision-makers across our sector. When representing Hospice UK and our programme externally, you will offer clinical expertise leadership within the field of Transition.
You will have senior palliative care experience, working in the field of transition. You will have led clinical programmes across systems and/or regions, and experience supporting organisations with Quality Improvement projects. You will be an excellent and influential communicator, who embraces working with data while maintaining a strategic overview.

About the Role

Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) is looking to engage the services of a results-oriented consultant with great people skills to set up CAP projects in high harm areas.
The successful applicant will have a track record of building effective partnerships, the people and communication skills to involve and engage a wide range of local stakeholders and the leadership and project management skills to support projects through each phase of their lifecycle including baseline evaluation, action plan delivery, post intervention evaluation and maintenance/sustainment. After a short familiarisation period the successful applicant will be expected to oversee fast-track development of new CAPs in priority areas and take responsibility for all aspects of their management with minimal supervision.
A key requisite of the role will be the ability to forge effective public/private sector partnerships between statutory agencies, schools, youth charities and retailers following the CAP model and evaluation framework. The successful applicant may come from a police, public health, education, local authority or other relevant background.
Key Responsibilities
· Proactively identify opportunities for new CAPs and facilitate set up of new CAPs in priority areas
· Ensure that all new CAP projects carry out appropriate and timely interventions and evaluate all activity in line with the CAP evaluation toolkit – including a baseline and post intervention evaluation
· Raise the profile of CAPs in Scotland and ensure that their impact is recognised by key stakeholders
Specific duties to include the following:
o Represent CAP at all operational meetings
o Ensure that Retail of Alcohol Standards Group (RASG) member companies play a full delivery role in each CAP where they operate as businesses.
o Liaise as appropriate with strategic leads within local enforcement authorities and other partner organisations to initiate and complete agreed actions
o Encourage all projects to achieve positive local media coverage including via social media and regional news/broadcast media
o Ensure that all projects carry out as a minimum a baseline (pre-CAP) evaluation and post intervention evaluation following the CAP evaluation framework and project management survey tools
o Produce a monthly progress report on all schemes and pipeline activity
o Attend and participate in regular CAP update meetings on Microsoft teams (x12 pa)
o Assist with event planning and profile-raising opportunities such as MSP visits to CAP projects
Skills, attributes and experience
- Essential to the role will be the ability to persuade key stakeholders at local and national level of the need to address underage drinking problems and to facilitate effective and dynamic local partnerships involving any/all of the following sectors: local authorities, education, child protection, social services, public health, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, police, retailers and licensing

Remuneration: Consultancy fee of £320 per day depending on experience. Work will depend on ability to generate interest in setting up new CAPs but we anticipate as a guideline engaging a minimum of 2.5 days of consultancy per week or around 100 days per annum. How Will you Make a Difference?
The Executive Assistant (EA) will provide high-level administrative support to Amna’s CEO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board of Trustees. This includes administrative help such as managing calendars, drafting communications and briefings, planning, and organising meetings, inbox support, travel, office administration and personal assistance. It also includes working on and managing special projects including research, data analysis, preparation for public speaking, writing and research.

Job Purpose
The Director leads GARAS in its mission to support refugees and asylum seekers, with a strong commitment to their rights and well-being.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and strategic thinker, who can work with key stakeholders across Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire to develop and deliver impactful services which navigate complex challenges. The Director is responsible for the strategic direction, financial sustainability, and overall management of the organisation, ensuring GARAS operates in accordance with its values and goals. This requires them to be compassionate, empathetic, resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment, and to demonstrate a strong commitment to GARAS’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Development
- Provide visionary leadership to advance GARAS’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Develop, implement, and review organisational strategy in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
- Identify and respond to emerging issues impacting refugees and asylum seekers at local, regional, and national levels.
- Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, partner organisations, donors, and community stakeholders.
Organisational and Financial Management
- Ensure the financial health and sustainability of GARAS through effective fundraising, financial planning and budgeting.
- Oversee operational policies, processes and practices to ensure the delivery of highquality, accessible services.
- Consistently review GARAS's structure, systems, policies and procedures to ensure that these are fit for purpose, compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements and reflect good practice requirements.
- Monitor and report on organisational performance to the Board of Trustees, including financial performance, service delivery, and programme outcomes.
- Secure grants, develop new funding opportunities, and maintain relationships with funders.
Service Delivery and Programme Development
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all programmes and services to meet the evolving needs of clients, staff and the organisation.
- Ensure the delivery of client-centred services that uphold the dignity and rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
- Develop partnerships to enhance the scope and impact of GARAS’ programmes and services.
- Ensure all of GARAS’ services comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Advocacy and Public Relations
- Act as a spokesperson for GARAS, representing the organisation’s mission and values to the public, media, and other stakeholders.
- Develop advocacy strategies to promote awareness of refugee and asylum seeker issues within the community and among policymakers.
- Engage with media, attend public events, and foster partnerships to raise the profile of GARAS.
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide inspirational leadership, mentoring, and support to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture and promoting continuous professional development and well-being.
- Provide direct line management to senior staff including development support, coaching, performance management and access to training, and to support senior staff and volunteers to do the same to the teams they manage.
- Ensure, through the senior staff, that all teams have robust work plans and key performance indicators in place which contribute to the achievement of GARAS’ long-term strategy and annual plans.
- Run regular all-team meetings to ensure good working practice is shared across the teams
- Work with the Trustee Board to recruit staff as required for the running of the organisation using fair and equitable systems.
- Work with the Office Manager to ensure effective oversight and resolution of any HR issues.

The Role
This is a great chance to join a busy policy team to cover family leave. The team helps the Law Society shape public policy to deliver our corporate strategy for our members and the public interest.
You will lead our policy development and projects on immigration and asylum issues, and support colleagues in the public law team on other issues such as human rights, mental health law, criminal law and family law.
Keeping up to date with policy and legal developments, you will spot and respond to opportunities for positive reforms. You will research and analyse the impact of changes on our members, access to justice and the rule of law, and provide reliable and well-informed advice and leadership. Often you will prepare written briefings and guidance for internal and external audiences, and occasionally you will give oral presentations.

What we're looking for
You will be an experienced policy professional with a proven track record of identifying opportunities for influence and making an impact. You will have either some expertise in immigration and/or asylum law or the ability to develop that quickly, alongside a good working knowledge of broad public law issues.
You will be skilled in researching and analysing complex issues and assessing their implications for the profession, the rule of law and access to justice. You will have excellent skills in drafting concise, clear and accurate policy papers, briefings and guidance for a range of audiences, and be comfortable giving persuasive oral presentations.
You will also be experienced in building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels and be able to work both pro-actively and reactively, often with minimal supervision and to tight deadlines.

Terms of Reference
The post is offered on a full time basis, on a permanent contract with a six-month probationary period. The salary will be £24,000.
At the PSHE Association, we believe in a healthy work-life balance. Role description
