Job description

About the role

Do you want to make a genuine difference and transform someone’s life?

Being an Employment Specialist in a clinical setting is an exciting and dynamic role, where no day is the same. You will be providing client support such as CV production, interview techniques and searching for job opportunities. You will also be educating and engaging employers, sourcing job opportunities for your clients, and raising expectations around the ability of clients to access paid employment. As part of the Solent Mind Secondary Employment Team, you will be working in partnership with the newly merged Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust delivering an IPS service to Community Mental Health Services in Portsmouth to help their patients find and retain suitable employment.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in helping people with mental health needs across the City of Portsmouth to find meaningful and fulfilling employment. Previous experience in employment services and mental health are strong advantages but training will be provided in-post. We welcome applications from a variety of work backgrounds and experience levels. We positively encourage applications from all communities in which we work, as well as applications from people with lived mental health experience.

Play a vital role in helping people with mental health support needs on their recovery journey and apply to become an IPS Employment Specialist today!

About you

You will need to have excellent communication skills and a good understanding of the key difficulties and challenges faced by people with mental health issues in gaining or retaining employment. What you will need is the ability to motivate and build relationships with service users, strong organisational skills, and the confidence to communicate and engage with a range of mental health clinicians, support workers and prospective employers.  Working in a patient facing role is demanding and you will need a good level of personal resilience and an insight into ways of maintaining your own wellbeing. You will need to be able to record accurate patient notes and data sets to evidence your work. IT proficiency is therefore required. And finally, a fundamental belief that anyone with a mental health condition can find and maintain employment, and that this can contribute to positive mental health.
