In this exciting role, you will play a pivotal role to see academic institution through a period of change. Working as part of wider HR team, you will lead on a variety of ER cases and change management.
Your day to day duties as Employee Relations Advisor will include;
- Overseeing a variety of Employee Relations cases such as grievances, sickness and performance issues
- Leading on change management including restructures and redundancies
- Building effective relationships with managers and external stakeholders to properly understand their needs
- Lead on conduct meetings and effectively managing the relevant paper work
- Effectively advise and communicate managers with policies and procedures, coaching and mentoring where necessary to resolve and settle disputes
The skills you will bring to the role of Employee Relations Advisor will include;
- Prior experience in managing a variety of Employee Relation cases including, disciplinaries, grievances, sickness, performance issues etc
- Experience of working in large organisations and managing a high volumes of stakeholders

The Role
Responsible for the processing of purchase invoices, ensuring correct approval processes have been followed.
Liaise directly with suppliers regarding invoice status and payment queries.
Reconciliation of supplier statements requesting any outstanding invoices and liaising with the wider team regarding management of purchase orders as required.
Ensure timely payment of invoices by reviewing the draft payment runs and making any amendments as necessary advising the Head of Finance of the value of the payment runs.
Assist in the identification of accruals and prepayments for inclusion in the management accounts.
Review the aged creditors register on a monthly basis, investigating the circumstances regarding any long term outstanding balances and making any adjustments as required.
Reviewing of outstanding orders and goods receipt notes , where no invoices have been received and taking appropriate action to close out as necessary.
Ensure any debit balances on the creditors ledger are promptly identified and that appropriate action is taken to resolve them on a timely basis
Bank restaurant and retail cash takings reconciling to underlying systems and following up any discrepancies with the appropriate operational area.
Banking of cheques received and journaling of receipts to the nominal ledgers as appropriate.
Reconciliation of credit card receipts and posting of ticket and car park income to the ledger ensuring all income is allocated to the correct account and is correctly coded.
The Candidate
AAT qualification or equivalent experience
General experience of accounts and bookkeeping including journal preparation and cash reconciliation
Experience of working in an accounts payable or accounts receivable team
Experience in a finance department
Experience of using Open accounts/eBis accounting system
Competent user of Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel and Outlook to intermediate level

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all financial functions, including monthly management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Oversee the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
- Prepare regular financial reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
- Manage a small finance team, fostering a positive and productive environment.
- Oversee payroll, pensions, Gift Aid, and other financial processes.
- Contribute to risk management, insurance, and business continuity planning.
About the Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance leader with strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. They will be a proactive team manager with excellent analytical and communication abilities. Experience in the charity sector and familiarity with Sage 50 are desirable.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
- Senior-level finance experience, including team management.
- Strong expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting.
- Familiarity with accounting software (Sage 50 preferred).
- Previous charity sector experience is preferred.

This role is technically focused, including tasks such as:
• Support on the annual audit of the financial statements,
• Supporting the implementation of a new financial system in 2025

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a strong background in both management and financial accounting, who can handle technical tasks and can support the colleges’ financial goals. Sector experience is flexible.
What’s on offer?
A competitive salary of £50,000-£60,000 FTE, with a fantastic pension, around 30 days of annual leave plus extra time off at Christmas, and hybrid working options. Full-time or part-time (3-4 days a week) positions are available, with 2 days in the office for contract roles and 4 days for full-time roles. The contract is a 12-month FTC with potential for a day rate or permanent position.

About the role
We’re looking for a Head of Brand and Content to join our Brand and Marketing Communications team. This is a brand new role and exciting opportunity to bring your passion and experience to deliver bold, impactful and innovative work.
Your creative flair and highly strategic approach to developing brands will enable you to establish the Brand and Content team as a centre of excellence, trusted and respected in the sector and across the organisation.
