The Director has overall responsibility for the impact, reach and quality of BMA’s activities,
delivering against our vision and mission, as agreed with the Board of Trustees. The Director
plays a key role in shaping strategy, driving innovation and collaboration, while ensuring the
organisation is efficient and effective in achieving its goals.
Brent Music Academy (BMA) is an exciting new charitable organisation providing accelerated
music, performance and industry opportunities coupled with pastoral and financial support to
eliminate barriers to the music industry for young people from diverse backgrounds in the
London borough of Brent and surrounding areas.
This position involves working with children and young people. The appointment will therefore
be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Leadership & management

Provide strategic leadership to the organisation and deliver against goals as agreed with the Board of Trustees

Lead long term financial and strategic planning in response to ongoing dialogue with stakeholders, market research and a changing public and private sector funding climate

Lead, empower, inspire and develop BMA staff, promoting new and creative thinking which supports BMA in achieving its mission

Oversee staff recruitment and performance management, acting as a line manager to the Head of Learning Pathways, Programme Manager and Head of Fundraising, ensuring the implementation and monitoring of induction, professional development and succession planning

Oversee the development, review and monitoring of BMA’s budgets, finance and administration, maintaining clear financial management controls

Ensure all relevant policies are maintained, up to date, approved by the Board of Trustees and consistently applied

Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and line manage staff in their safeguarding responsibilities

Embed a quality and improvement culture, combining clear management information with an effective professional development model.
Development, fundraising and promotion

Evolve a sustainable business model for BMA that draws on a range of income sources from a mixed portfolio of services

Work closely with members of the staff to:

Attract resources and investment through partnerships, fundraising and advocacy

Communicate clear brand identity and sense of community amongst those who support, work, learn or participate with BMA

Ensure that funders and other key stakeholders are kept informed and that reporting requirements are met

Maintain and develop effective relationships and networks with peers, partners and key stakeholders
Working with the Board of Trustees

Prepare and communicate strategic plans, business plan, fundraising plan, annual operational plan and budget for Board approval

Provide appropriate presentations and reporting on progress against plans and matters relevant to the discharge of the Board’s constitutional and legal obligations

Assist the Board in identifying and developing Trustees in line with established codes of good practice

This position requires established line management experience and the proven ability to successfully manage a Management Accountant.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Providing high-quality financial data and analysis to senior management.
- Overseeing the production of accurate and timely month-end management reports.
- Developing and maintaining financial models to support strategic decision-making.
- Partnering with senior business managers to provide financial insights and support.
- Managing complex financial scenarios and assessing their impact on business strategy.
- Experience in line management, with demonstrated ability to effectively lead a Management Accountant.
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Extensive knowledge of financial procedures, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Expertise in managing financial procedures, including revenue and deferred income recognition, and executing complex accounting reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience in overseeing the production and presentation of financial reports.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Proficient in SharePoint and confident in delivering impactful PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Forward-Thinking: Drive strategic financial planning and analysis, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

About the role:
The Senior IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process. This is a great development opportunity for an experienced IDVA looking to take the next step in their career. Along with regular case work, this role requires confident use of Modus in order to coordinate and ensure the quality of Duty, as well as the ability to work to policies and procedures and be able to prioritise effectively.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector and in working with women with children. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, you will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis.
Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision. You will be adept at juggling front line work and management responsibilities, with an ability to prioritise, work collaboratively and demonstrate innovation in time management and service delivery methods.

Senior Finance Business Partner - London Hybrid: £73,300 - £78,300 + Benefits
For a global organisation working in over 100 countries, we're recruiting a Senior Finance Business Partner to support the global commercial business areas deliver high-quality FP&A analysis. With a strong emphasis on supporting the global leadership team in the provision of insightful financial information, this role will work to interpret results, trends and KPIs to support decision-making. The Senior Finance Business Partner will add specific value to business leaders around cost management, business development, efficiency improvements, investments, business-cases and ROI for commercial areas across all 7 Regions.
Main Duties:
- Provide first-class FP&A service to global business leaders, in the UK and Regionally across budgeting, forecasting and multi-year planning against KPIs and deliverables
- Promote best practice for business partnering supporting commercial growth and cost-management
- Lead planning and forecasting timetables and work with the Head of Planning to develop reporting
- Continuous improvement of global planning, forecasting reporting and commentary
- Develop commercial multi-year global planning and reporting
- Partner with Regional Finance and Operations teams to support activity performance management
- Deliver MI reporting for business leaders and ensure KPI reporting is accurate and insightful using Excel, Power BI and new FP&A tools
- Support the Director of FP&A develop and maintain 3-5-year global financial plans and scenario analysis
- Lead cash-flow reporting and analysis and rolling forecasts
- Support Director of FP&A with improvements to planning, Power BI and KPI reporting
Person Specification:
- Qualified Accountant with substantial commercial business partnering
- Strong experience of working in international and multi-cultural organizations
- Strong FP&A and financial-planning and reporting experience
- Shared service operations experience
- SAP, Power BI, and strong Excel modelling
- Pricing and costing model experience for new bids and contracts
- Supporting global FP&A during business, operational planning and monthly reporting
