Prospectus is delighted to be supporting Leeds Castle in their search for a Fundraising Manager (maternity cover) to join the team for a 12-14 months. Leeds Castle is situated in a beautiful and historic spot in Kent, with great connections to surrounding cities.
The fundraising team at Leeds Castle was established relatively recently, in January 2023, and is responsible for securing funds from trusts, foundations, public bodies and individuals. There is a vast ongoing cost to care for a 900-year-old Castle and Estate and they need to generate income above and beyond the successful visitor & hospitality businesses. The postholder will play a crucial role in delivering a funding strategy to support their new multi-million-pound project ‘safeguarding the Castle for the next 900 years’.
The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge and experience in trust and foundations fundraising, with a clear record of funding achievement. Working with the Head of Audience Development & Fundraising, you will drive forward their fundraising strategy, strengthen the trusts and foundations pipeline and apply for match funding opportunities. The successful candidate will be resilient and highly motivated, an excellent writer with a strong attention to detail. They will be a good researcher and relationship builder, keen to secure great financial results to support Leeds Castle’s ambitions.
The new fundraising department will focus on creating a fundraising strategy, setting up systems and processes, researching approaches and building their pipeline of funders almost from scratch. They have already had great success in securing funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, so need to expand and build their funding pipeline and look to engage new funders.
This is a hybrid role, that will require some attendance from their office in Leeds Castle in Kent. The salary will be £42k - £45k, depending on experience and flexible working conditions can be considered.

About the role
The University of London’s Development Office is responsible for delivering philanthropic support for the strategic fundraising priorities of the University. As Senior Philanthropy Operations Manager, you will act as the strategic lead for the data and information management that underpins all of the Development Office’s activities. This will include management of the Blackbaud CRM database (and all associated Blackbaud products), gift processing, reporting and analysis, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant data protection legislation. You will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the Library Transformation Programme campaign and other strategic fundraising priorities. You will also provide strategic data management and analysis that can be leveraged to enhance the performance of the University’s fundraising campaigns and engagement activities.
Who are we looking for?
With a strong awareness of the “big picture” issues in the HE sector, particularly in fundraising and engagement, you will bring experience in transforming strategic ideas into operational reality. You will confidently collaborate with senior staff and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Articulate and literate, you will present to senior staff and produce high-quality written work. Data literate, you will analyze and present data clearly to diverse audiences and effectively manage interactions with staff at all levels. You will lead and collaborate with a team of Development experts, leveraging significant experience in information and data management, IT, prospect research, and fundraising activities. Additionally, you will have experience in financial and budget management, interpreting financial information, and a solid understanding of charity legislation, fundraising regulation, and data protection.

About the role
The Philanthropy Events Manager role is a new specialised role within the Development Office and will be responsible for planning and implementing strategic fundraising events in support of the University of London’s major fundraising campaign and other fundraising priorities. You will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the fundraising campaign through strategic focus on driving impactful events programme and donor engagement strategies.
Who are we looking for?
You will come with a proven track record of event management in HE or charity sector and of liaising and managing relationships with key stakeholders (alumni, volunteers, donors etc). We seek someone who has experience of working with colleagues across a complex organisation and with different levels of seniority, as well as well-developed strategic thinking skills with a methodical and structured approach. You will be able to evidence a positive, enthusiastic and creative attitude, with the drive and tenacity to deliver new initiatives and improve existing programmes with minimum supervision. Crucially you will be able to prioritise workloads and utilise good organisational and time management skills to deliver on multiple activities simultaneously.

About the role
The Prospect Development and Donor Insights Manager is a new key position within the Development Office that will lead on strategic, data-driven insights to shape our fundraising strategy and maximise the University’s fundraising potential as we embark on the University’s biggest ever fundraising campaign.
You will manage the overall process of prospect development, including moves management and prospect strategy to support our fundraising campaign. You will provide strategic, data-driven guidance to frontline fundraisers ensuring optimal tracking and engagement of major gift prospect, including individuals, trusts & foundations and corporates, throughout the donor lifecycle. In addition, you will develop and strengthen a sustainable prospect pipeline in support of our fundraising campaign and fundraising priorities of the University.
Who are we looking for?
We seek someone with at least three years’ experience of prospect research and prospect management, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations. You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and strategically with individuals and teams at all levels and across functions. We need someone who has experience of writing profiles, prospect identification, media tracking and good understanding of the Data Protection Act. Experience of maintaining and developing a prospect tracking system on a fundraising database and experience of data analysis and data visualisation is also sought.

About the role
The Donor Relations Officer is a key role within the Development Office at the University of London. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a best practice programme of stewardship, donor engagement and recognition for the University of London’s donors, ensuring sustainability and growth of the donor base. This work involves creating a rewarding donor experience and managing donor communications, organising high-level donor stewardship activities and coordinating fundraising activities to support the mission and goals of the University.
Who are we looking for?
You will come experienced in delivering a successful programme of stewardship, in the charity or higher education sectors, and a working knowledge and experience of handling confidential information. We need someone with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with high profile individuals, and thus excellent communication skills in terms of written and spoken English is needed. You will have excellent relationship management skills, including the ability to work closely and collegiately with colleagues as part of a team and across a wider organisation. Experience of building and managing mutually beneficial partnerships and networks, both internally and externally, to create opportunities for the University, is also sought. As is an ability to deal effectively with staff at all levels, demonstrating discretion and tact.

Refugee Council is seeking an experienced philanthropy specialist to develop and grow the Refugee Council’s Philanthropy relationships and programme and deliver an ambitious Philanthropy strategy.
Refugee Council is a leading charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to rebuild their lives in safety here in the UK. Providing practical, hands on support, their award winning services include welcoming refugees into local communities across the country, providing specialist children’s services – with a particular focus on refugee children who arrive here alone, helping people to navigate the asylum system, and supporting people to access housing and employment. Evidence from services is then used to also inform the charity’s leading policy and influencing work, including campaigning for a fairer and kinder refugee protection system. This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team and presents an exciting opportunity to grow Refugee Council’s established Philanthropy programme. Prospectus is delighted to be supporting Hand in Hand International to recruit 2 new Programme Development Managers, as the organisation looks to increase their impact and support thousands of women on their way out of poverty. These are permanent, full-time positions based in London (Hybrid).

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, Gender and Humanitarian the post holder will identify, prospect and approach new institutional donors, converting them form prospects to secured funds. You will ensure the effective delivery of a portfolio of institutional and corporate grants, making sure projects are achieving key milestones and that day-to-day activities are on track. The Programme Development Manager will provide high quality project information to both internal and external stakeholders, extracting and quality assuring project data relevant for reporting, and making sure all projects are compliant with donor requirements. You will proactively manage relationships with existing donors, developing engagement strategies, sharing key information, and laying groundwork for follow-on funding. Finally, you will lead proposals for new and existing donors, coordinating inputs from Hand in Hand International and network colleagues, drafting technical inputs, and engaging with funders where required.
The ideal candidate will have an innovative approach and a strong track record in fundraising from large institutional donors; trusts and foundations, corporate foundations and governments. The main objective of the role is to identify, prospect and approach new institutional donors, converting them from prospects to secured funds. The role will be roughly 70% fundraising and 30% grant management.
As well as a demonstrable track-record securing large, multi-year grants from different types of funders, you will have experience with their thematic areas: women’s economic empowerment, value chains, livelihoods or enterprise acceleration. Experience working in development projects in Eastern Africa: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe. Experience in Afghanistan would be a plus.

- Excellent relationship management skills with donors, across the funding cycle from prospecting to proposal management and reporting
- Experience with key thematic areas: women’s economic empowerment, value chains, livelihoods or enterprise acceleration within an NGO, government or the private sector
- Experience working in development projects in Eastern Africa: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe. Experience in Afghanistan would be a plus.
