Our client is currently recruiting for a Digital Empowerment Officer to join their Community Engagement team. As a Digital Empowerment Officer, you will lead in the coordination, development and delivery of digital inclusion projects, initiatives and activities for Platform customers and communities.
This is a role where you will be active in communities promoting the use of digital platforms, tackling barriers to digital exclusion, and helping to improve digital skills. Within this role, you will be building on the existing successes with the team and will receive support from your colleagues to be successful in the role.
The Digital Empowerment Officer will be responsible for supporting communities around the Midlands including Matlock, Ashbourne, Leicester, North Warwickshire and outskirts of Birmingham. Any required travel will be reimbursed in line with their current policy and current Inland Revenue Mileage rates.
What you can expect from the role
- Working with communities to promote the use of our client's digital services and customer portals.
- Working with internal stakeholders, you will be a digital specialist for project teams who are looking to understand the technological implications from the customer’s perspective.
- Working with external stakeholders and partners, developing relationships with Digital Champions Volunteers to help further promote the digital services.
- Producing marketing material for a range of digital and online training, events and initiatives through a variety of different methods, such as newsletters, blogs, social media etc.
- Playing a pivotal role in the testing and piloting of digital and Internet ready products.

- You will be a people person; communication will be key to this role not only for working with our customers but also for working with external stakeholders.
- Experience of working in a customer engagement, community or voluntary environment would be preferred.
- A patient and empathetic approach.
- Proven ability to actively identify new ways to engage successfully with customers and communities.
- Due to the nature of the role the successful applicant will have a DBS check carried out before commencing employment.
- The successful applicant will also need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle. Whilst part of the role will be home-based you will be expected to regularly travel to the communities around the Derbyshire Dales, Leicester and the outskirts of Birmingham.

Housing Sustainment Worker
Hours: 37 Hours per week on a rota system
Location: Head Office, Festival Park, Stoke on Trent with regular travel

We are looking for customer focused people join our Housing Services Team based at our Stoke on Trent Head Office. Our customers have a range of needs including mental health, addictions, learning disabilities, recent homelessness and debt.
Our Housing Sustainment Workers guide our customers through the Housing pathway, identifying appropriate support routes to assist them.
Some of your Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting customers to sustain their housing by focusing on (not an exhaustive list);
- Identifying their specific needs/ vulnerabilities
- Identifying routines and life skills essential for independent living
- Accessing support via specialist external partners
- Accessing training and volunteering opportunities internal/external
- Identifying risks and triggers to positive progression
- Focusing on the future by identifying goals and setting action plans
- Identifying next steps accommodation options and assisting customers to access it
- Empowering customers by guiding/coaching positive thinking/decision making whilst encouraging them to take steps to independence
- Providing a trauma informed approach to customers lived experiences
- Identifying potential customers for vacant properties to minimise housing waiting lists and preserve revenue generation
- Ensuing customers housing benefit claims are submitted and processed in a timely manner
- Investigating and resolving rent arrears and escalating as appropriate
- Ensuring cases are escalated where necessary to specialist support teams
- Collaborating with key partners to ensure customer’s housing needs are met
- Ensuring our Housing Sustainment Strategy is applied fairly and transparently across License and Tenancy accommodation
You will need:
- GCSE English and Maths grade C or above (grades 4-9 or equivalent)
- Experience of dealing with the needs of our customer group; including but not limited to those with Learning Disabilities, Entrenched Homelessness, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Dependencies, dual diagnosis
- An understanding of the housing letting procedure including screening/vetting applicants
- Previous experience of managing and resolving rent arrears issues within a Registered Social Landlord or similar environment
- An understanding of both adult and child safeguarding protocols and escalation procedures
- Awareness of Building Safety Legislation and Expectations of Landlords
- Customer focused, excellent with planning and delivery, able to balance multiple priorities against critical deadlines
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to do things better, supporting automation and digital paperwork
- A driving licence and vehicle insured for business use – we have a number of sites and you will need to visit these regularly

The role:
- Work in partnership with the business to deliver the strategy and creatively solve problems;
- Responsible for working with the business to prepare and deliver robust budgets, challenging at regular reviews if we are off target and forecasting as appropriate;
- Responsible for the finance and procurement business partnering service and support we deliver to our existing homes investment teams encompassing a mix of in-house delivery of repairs and maintenance, voids and capital investment plus external contractor delivery along with the overall strategic property planning service;

Essential criteria:
- Experience of reporting financial information, including explaining finance concepts to non-financial people;
- Previous or current experience working in the property or housing sector.
- Excellent leader with a track record of getting the best out of people;
- Recent practical experience of budgeting, management accounting and business planning;
- Good systems experience, both of finance systems and operational systems, and be quick to pick up new ones;
- Qualified member of a recognised accounting body
- A thorough understanding of appropriate legislation, taxation, risk, financial reporting standards and best practice;
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, be able to translate financial information into meaningful management information to aid decision making and help influence at all levels, to change thinking and behaviours;
This is a roaming role with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in any of Bromford’s offices along with travel to any of the other offices as required. The main offices are in Wolverhampton, Tewkesbury and Chipping Sodbury (addresses below).
