About the role

The aim of this newly created role is to lead organisational change on safeguarding and protection across Care4Calais. 

The Head of Safeguarding and Protection will provide strategic and operational leadership across all protection and safeguarding prevention, reporting and response initiatives to facilitate a values-led organisational culture of safety, non-discrimination, dignity and respect for all.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead and implement safeguarding and protection strategy across the whole organisation.

• Manage the incident management and referral process for safeguarding and protection incidents.

• Oversee the implementation of Care4Calais’ mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

• Develop and deliver training and resources on safeguarding and protection to grow capacity across the organisation.

• Attend and contribute meaningfully to team meetings.

• Develop and maintain a network of key contacts within relevant authorities, legal teams dealing with immigration and public law matters, and other NGOs focused on the support of refugees and people seeking asylum.

• Attend relevant external meetings, representing the organisation as needed, ensuring that knowledge and learning is shared across the department. 

• Complete relevant external training required to undertake the role. 

• Be prepared to travel to locations in UK and France where C4C staff are operating.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Significant experience of leading organisational change on safeguarding and protection initiatives in an international humanitarian context.

• Experience and knowledge of international safeguarding and protection standards and good practices, as well as legal and regulatory obligations applicable to charities registered in the UK and (desirable) France. 

• Experience of implementing safeguarding measures for children and adults at risk of harm. 

• Significant experience of incident management and investigations.

• Demonstrable experience of acting with integrity and moral courage in challenging circumstances.

• Understanding of, and commitment to, challenging intersectional power differentials that can contribute to an organisational culture with high safeguarding risks.

• Understanding of, and commitment to, survivor-centred, trauma-informed and rights-based approaches to safeguarding and protection.

• Experience of developing and delivering training on safeguarding and protection at all levels.

• Understanding and experience of safeguarding and protection issues related to volunteers including mental health and resilience.

• Resilience in the face of challenging and emotionally demanding situations, with a positive and solution-oriented mindset.

Desirable

• Proficiency in one or more of the languages spoken within asylum seeking communities, such as, but not limited to: Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Dari, Kurdish Sorani, Tigrinya, Amharic.

• Experience of working with asylum seekers, refugees, displaced people or for human rights-based organisations.

Stoll is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Communications specialist to fill this new role at the organisation.  It is a great opportunity to join Stoll as we expand our work around communications and marketing both internally and externally. Working directly with the Director of Fundraising and Communications you will be joining an expanding Fundraising and Communications team.

In this role you will be responsible for working across corporate partnerships, major donors, trusts and foundations, with a prominent focus on developing our pipeline of prospects and relationships across corporate partnerships and major donors. The ideal candidate will be driven and ambitious, with experience in one or more of the above areas but you must have significant experience in developing a pipeline and evidence of securing 5 and 6 figure partnerships or gifts.

Engaging increasing numbers of schools in ACN’s Membership programme, fundraising initiatives, and developing new initiatives and resources working strategically with the Community Fundraiser in Scotland.

You will also be providing support for organised ACN events in Scotland, as well as taking responsibility for running tailored events. 

Reporting to the Manager of Operations in Scotland this post will provide key logistical and administrative support. The Youth & Events Co-ordinator in Scotland will contribute to the objectives set out in Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) UK’s overall strategic plan, focusing on agreed aspects of the fundraising and marketing strategy, which contribute to the effective fundraising and awareness raising and ACN’s core aim of providing more aid to the Church in need.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Reach out to Scottish primary and secondary schools and youth settings in the central area of Scotland.

Develop and facilitate initiatives/programmes and resources to be offered to the above groups within a given diocese or throughout the Scottish dioceses as well as sharing resources to develop organisation-wide initiatives.

Develop and deliver themed presentations and workshops; organise mailings to contact targeted groups/areas. Follow this up with appointments

Administratively responsible for all ACN events in Scotland, in close cooperation with the Manager of Operations in Scotland, the Community Fundraiser for Scotland, Administrative Support in the Scottish Office and the Fundraising and Marketing Team. Responsible for promoting events via social media posts leading up to and during events. Using social media after events to recognise success and encourage future engagement.

The Magic Club (CIO) is a charity in Claremont, Blackpool, working with young people aged 7-16 to support them to thrive; increasing skills, accessing new opportunities, developing relationships and having loads of fun. We currently deliver youth club sessions four evenings each week in term time from our own venue, offering a diverse and high quality range of activities and project work. We also deliver detached youth work, Duke of Edinburgh and Arts Award programmes, AQAs, trips, residentials, holiday programmes, 1-2-1 and small group work, projects and youth volunteering, all served up with really tasty food. Alongside this we work with our parents and carers, wider community and partners to ensure we do whatever we can to support young people to thrive.

Opening in March 2018, we have seen a huge impact for young people in our community. With increased confidence, social skills and aspiration as well as improved relationships and routes to further education and work; we are making a lasting difference.

We are recruiting for a Senior Youth (Support) Worker to join our small, friendly team. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled colleague, with the vision, knowledge and commitment to lead on the delivery of our curriculum, projects, club sessions and activities with, and for, the young people of Claremont.

You will support our team of youth support workers, volunteers and Peer Educators, helping them to use their knowledge and experience for the benefit of our members. You will develop relationships and partnerships within the community to develop further support and opportunities for young people. You will also support the evaluation of our work, ensuring we are continually meeting the needs and interests of young people.

We will accept applications from JNC qualified workers or for individuals who are willing to complete a funded Level 6 qualification whilst working with us (the salary bands reflect payments for unqualified and qualified individuals). In either case we would require a Senior Youth Worker with comprehensive experience of working with young people and has experience of supervising teams of staff and volunteers.

We are a little biased, but we think the best part of the role is working with some of the most brilliant young people in Blackpool. This role will be pivotal in supporting the charity to further develop our offer for our young people, ensuring it is high-quality, meets the needs of our members and makes a big impact. Main Purpose of the Job

The Digital Enabler will work with the District Leadership Team and the Communications Officer to build the digital communications capacity of the District at every level, to facilitate effective participation by all members in the life of the church in the North West District, and to make use of new opportunities for mission and community-building in the digital sphere.

Key Responsibilities

1.Ensure that the District leadership is able to fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring there are reliable digital platforms for online, live-streamed and recorded meetings and events, for electronic dissemination of information (via web, social media and mailings), and audio and video recording and sharing..

2.Enable all members of churches in the District to have the opportunity for participation in District forums and events, and to receive information from their District and Circuits.

3.Co-operate with District and Circuit leaders, ministers and pioneers in the development of new forms of mission and church communities using a range of digital resources.

Key Tasks

Training and Support

1.Create a digital strategy for the District, identifying the essential resources and support needed to enable full participation at every level, and the opportunities for missional work in the online world.

2.Support the administration and governance of the District by facilitating online synods, committees and consultations.

3.Build a network of “digital champions” within Circuits and provide advice and support for local training and capacity building.

4.Devise and deliver online training courses for Circuits and churches.

5.Develop a “Digital Community of Practice” across the District, and linking where appropriate across the Connexion, which will envisage and create new ways of being and growing church in the digital age.

6.Work with safeguarding officers to raise awareness of digital safeguarding issues, and create usable information and guidelines for Circuits and churches.

Facilities and Resources

1.Work with the Communications Officer in building and maintaining the District’s online presence, including the website and social media.

2.Develop a range of digital tools and resources for the use of the District and its Circuits, and assist in their implementation. (These could include servicing local website and social media initiatives, plan-making and emailing applications.)

3.Collect and disseminate information on digital specialists in the District who can serve Circuits and churches. (This could include graphic designers, web and database programmers, audio-visual and streaming experts and others.)

Events and Online Communities

1.Provide technical support for online and live-streamed District events, including advertising, registration and ticketing, online and streaming facilities.

2.Work with the Mission Area Leads, Circuits and pioneers in implementing digital services, online communities and missional initiatives.

Personal Training and Growth

1.Maintain an awareness of changes in digital applications and resources, and consider how they can be used in the District.

2.Identify opportunities to expand knowledge and understanding, including by appropriate courses.

3.Reflect theologically on issues around faith in the digital world, and the opportunities for sharing the gospel by these means.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as an Adult Learning Tutor (ESOL), starting in September 2024. 

Westway Trust is a community-guided organisation located in North Kensington which runs an adult learning programme of accredited and non-accredited provision across a range of subjects. We aim to enable people to progress in work, in learning and in life.  Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and have different prior experiences of learning.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to design and deliver high quality learner-centered teaching and assessment experiences to our adult learners from pre-entry level up to level 1, whilst supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives.

This is a sessional term-time role.  Working hours will be discussed and agreed at the interview stage.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met.

Emmaus Oxford is looking for a Charity retail Deputy Store Manager to join our retail management team running our large charity superstore in Cowley Oxford. Emmaus provides housing support and meaning occupation in our social enterprise to up to 28 ex-homeless men and women [known in Emmaus as Companions].  As well as providing retail management the role also involves coaching and training companions and working closely with our team of Progression Workers and Learning & Development Manager. Emmaus collects donations of furniture and household goods from across Oxfordshire and these are sold in our superstore in Cowley and through our online sales business. Proceeds from sales make a major contribution towards our housing & support service. This is a part time role working 22.5 hrs. [3 days] a week and may involve some weekend working and key holding responsibility. It’s a great opportunity to join a growing charity, in a rewarding role, working directly with the charity’s beneficiaries. Your work will directly help ex-homeless men and women, local people on low incomes and help create a better environment through recycling and reuse. 

Role purpose

Compass is a service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in H&F and Hounslow. The service provides support with welfare benefits, debt, housing and well-being/peer support groups/workshops.

The role of the Information and Advice Worker will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to H&F and Hounslow residents living with mental health problems. Advice issues may include, housing, benefits, council tax, debt, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals as agreed with the project manager. In addition to advice casework, the Advice Worker will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service when needed.

The successful candidate will be required to work alongside other caseworkers and volunteers supporting on the project and report to the project manager.

The Advice Worker will be required to work within the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS), and adhere to Mind’s policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.  

Place of work

The Advice Worker will be required to work both from home and the Ealing, H&F and Hounslow office when necessary, alongside work in the community.

Role responsibilities:

•  Leads and delivers on the strategic direction of the Trust, ensuring the vision and objectives are clearly documented and regularly communicated to all relevant parties, both internally and externally.
• Maintain an understanding of key projects within the Trust’s portfolio. 

• Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where all employees can flourish and have a sense of purpose.

• Lead the effective and efficient delivery of the Trust’s programmes, identifying new partnerships and business development opportunities. 

• Represent the Trust externally, shaping its image and reputation through regular interaction with the Lincolnshire ICB, Health partners, Voluntary Engagement Team, the media and the public.

• Oversee the financial performance of the Trust, ensuring its financial health and sustainability.

Westway Trust is a community-guided organisation located in North Kensington which runs an adult learning programme of accredited and non-accredited provision across a range of subjects. We aim to enable people to progress in work, in learning and in life. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and have different prior experiences of learning. 

The primary responsibility of the Digital Skills Tutor will be to design and deliver high quality, learner-centred teaching, and learning and assessment experiences to our employed and unemployed adult learners from Entry level to Level 1, while supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives.

This is a sessional hours role. The working hours will be discussed and agreed at interview stage.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met
• Assess learners’ abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly
• Rigorously monitor and track learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance
• Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional development
• Maintain accurate records of learners' attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements

Administration

• To carry out and keep records of initial and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly
• To identify materials and equipment/resource needs to assist the provision of teaching and learning by students
• To develop differentiated Individual Learning Plans with students, monitor and track learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and strategically addressing areas of weakness Maintaining up to date course files and submitting accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlines
• Preparing groups of learners for accredited assessment (exam or portfolio) & non-accredited assessment (RARPA), marking assessments and taking part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with appropriate Trust staff

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Practical work experience as an ICT Tutor, demonstrating hands-on knowledge and skills applicable to real-world scenarios
• Experience of teaching adult learners and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role
• Experience of devising course outlines and schemes of work
• Experience of managing mixed groups of learners
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team

Desirable

• Understanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning) system
• Experience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekers
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to impart essential knowledge to students
• The ability to speak a community language

Qualifications:

Essential

• Level 3 or above subject specialism qualification, such as IT User Skills, 
• A full teaching qualification for working in adult learning (DTLLS, PGCE or DET)
