ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Enhanced Hostel Intensive Needs Support Coach in Medway to join us on a fixed term contract until 31st March 25 as part of the Rough Sleeper Initiative Project - RSI (this is likely to be extended but is funding dependent) to provide effective practical and personal support and guidance to Pathways’ clients during the period of their stay in our accommodation to enable them to become more resilient and to live independent lives.

The primary responsibility of the RSI Enhanced Hostel Intensive Support Coach will be to provide personalised support and guidance to individuals referred to Pathways to Independence through the Medway Rough Sleepers Initiative. This will include assessing client needs and providing support to meet these needs, completing safety plans, ensuring the client can identify and access relevant services, liaising with other statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure the appropriate support for clients.
You will be allocated a caseload of between 5 and 7 clients who have a history of non-engagement, rough sleeping and complex needs. You will be expected to be proactive, in engaging clients demonstrating an approachable, flexible and caring style. The Intensive Needs Support Coach will be required to participate in activities to encourage the development of skills and the building of positive relationships within the local community.
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. You may need to work flexibly outside these hours as per the requirements for the service, residents and participants. You will be based across multiple projects in the Medway area.

What are we looking for?
- Experience of working directly with people who have experienced homelessness, with issues around substance/alcohol use and/or mental health
- Experience and ability to build rapport and develop a good working relationship with clients who are using substances, some of whom may display challenging behaviour
- Experience of communicating, liaising and negotiating effectively with a wide range of people including clients, other staff, and representatives of other agencies such as local authorities and statutory services and the general public to build strong partnerships
- The ability to work in fast paced and pressured environment whilst managing multiple priorities and demands to complete delegated tasks or meet deadlines
- The knowledge, skills and ability to assess the needs of people with substance misuse/mental health and health problems and to formulate support plans and risk assessments
- A clear knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and how it can be used as an intervention; a working knowledge of other interventions in the substance use field
- Proven ability to demonstrate compassionate and creative work practices with residents to address support needs and/or risks
- An open-minded approach to work with vulnerable adults and a willingness to learn new ideas and put these into practice
- IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
- Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system

- Experience working with different agencies/organisations and understanding the multi-disciplinary approach (For example working alongside MAPPA)
- Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Community Justice/Psychology or professional equivalent

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting a small caseload of individuals with complex needs referred to Pathways through the Medway Rough Sleeper Initiative project.

- Liaising with other statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure the appropriate support for hard to reach clients and/or those experiencing multiple disadvantage
- Utilise knowledge, skills and experience to recognise difficult or challenging situations, and use appropriate communication skills to influence and bring about positive change to behaviour
- To offer advice and support to staff working with residents with complex needs, helping to create a safe and trauma informed environment
- Cover for other members of the team as necessary.
- Assess clients with multiple needs to identify support needs, identify risks to complete safety/risk plans and identifying personal goals/desires in conjunction with the client

About the role:
The Gray's Inn Road supported accommodation project is a 16-bed short stay accommodation service which holds a critical position in the endeavour to address rough sleeping in the London Borough of Camden. The service, funded by the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities and the Greater London Authority, in partnership with One Housing Group and Camden council aligns with the strategic vision to make rough sleeping rare, brief, and non-recurrent in Camden. Although there is not a defined maximum stay, the service is designed to be a ‘short stay’ project and will aim to move people on into suitable housing options after 3-6 months.
As a resettlement worker you will provide flexible housing related support to vulnerable clients across the service. Clients within the service will often be experiencing multiple disadvantages, including substance misuse, mental and physical health issues and contact with the criminal justice system.
The resettlement worker will need to be resilient, innovative, flexible and creative, working alongside support workers to support clients in becoming move on ready. You will also need to be able to facilitate appropriate move ons from the service by identifying tailored move on support for each client dependent on their support needs, which will require knowledge of housing pathways.
The resettlement worker will be expected to develop strong relationships with housing providers, including private rented sector landlords.
About you:
- A demonstrable understanding of the Recovery Model, and the ability to engage and motivate people to move towards independence and inclusion.
- A good understanding of the housing pathway to ensure effective and suitable move on options are offered to clients. This includes an understanding of the private rented sector market and ability to broker safe and affordable Move-on options.
- A proven ability to create and deliver SMART Resettlement action plans with clients through high quality risk and needs assessments.
- A working knowledge of Housing Management as applied to a residential setting, and / or client’s move on accommodation.
- A level of numeracy sufficient to carry out tasks such as budgeting with clients, calculating benefit entitlements and monitoring rent payments.
- A proven ability to work in partnership with external stakeholders, particularly community mental health services and/or substance use services.

The Role
This is a unique opportunity to join NWAA, due to the growth in the charity’s events portfolio. You will report into the Events Manager and support the events and fundraising team, to deliver its ambitious new strategy. Duties will include:
- Supporting the team with event organisation and delivery, including providing excellent support and stewardship.
- Enrolling participants taking part in a calendar of events across the region.
- Meeting fundraisers and re-engaging lapsed supporters to develop long-term relationships and maximise fundraising.

The Role

As Enterprise Manager, you will secure external funding through partnerships and bid writing, and support delivery of projects which ‘transform places and enrich lives’. You will support our Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle from inception to closure in line with the Trust’s financial reporting process, acting as first point of contact for external funders throughout. You will also act as point of contact and support project development for third parties carrying out active travel and public realm improvements on our land.
At any given time, you will hold a portfolio of varied projects, from towpath and access improvements, as well as habitat improvements, community engagement and heritage conservation.
Location

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. These types of tools and materials include:
- Accessible tools and appropriate technologies:
Intuitive to use and readily available, including software and mobile apps for data collection and interpretation, simple decision support tools for assessment, planning, and problem resolution, and community-level materials for common activities, such as meeting facilitation guides or decision-making tools to help communities decide which fish and fisheries to focus management attention on.
- Training resources:
Manuals, guides, videos, and online materials that provide concise information and serve as self-learning tools, allowing partners to access and acquire knowledge at their own pace.
- Knowledge development:
Structured learning experiences to transfer theory to practise and enhance the background knowledge and competencies such as workshops or webinars, as well as development of good practice technical case studies and publications.
- Skill development:
Specific hands-on training, mentoring, or peer learning exchange programmes to enhance technical expertise and the skills that are relevant to the context of each pillar.
As a Global Head, the position oversees regional and national colleagues to produce and iteratively improve the technical support, ensuring globally consistent guidance, while enabling context-specific differentiation among regions. The ability to work in a diverse and geographically dispersed team and to liaise and adapt techniques across different cultures will therefore be essential. As a Global Head and part of the Technical Knowledge team, the position strives for Blue Ventures’ work to be at the forefront of best practice in the sector, by learning from partners and practitioners worldwide to distil learning and experience into usable practical approaches to address the common barriers to achieving coastal fisheries reform with a strong believe in placing communities at the centre of decision making.
The Blue Ventures Technical Knowledge team has a unique vantage point, gained through supporting dozens of partners working with hundreds of communities across South East Asia, the Western Indian Ocean, West Africa, and the Caribbean as well as being part of international fora and members of expert panels. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.
At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Food Security will have a strong understanding and technical experience of food security and nutrition programmes in coastal fishing communities and initiatives to reduce losses in catch value (both nutritional and financial), with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.
Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. An understanding of the challenges faced particularly by women in fisheries and experience of working in communities to find some practical solutions desirable for this role. The role will work in close collaboration with the Global Technical Knowledge team to support these goals, which includes working with fisher associations and committees to increase the participation of women in leadership and decision-making.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing tropical coastal fisheries and the small-scale fishing communities that depend on them. They will have extensive, practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia, or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.
The successful candidate will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate, and ambitious, will have a proven track record in distilling complexity into easily interpretable material, able to deliver high-impact written work, and in communicating effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from fishing communities, practitioners, academic institutions, governments, the private sector, and other technical experts. They will feel comfortable representing the organisation externally.
The role entails leading an interdisciplinary and international team, with strong cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Technical Knowledge and will be based in one of our regional hubs, with regular overseas travel to work with partners and field teams around the world.
The core technical scope of the role’s portfolio will include:
- Data-driven assessments and interventions to improve food security and nutrition for healthy and resilient fishing communities, including nutrition education and supporting nutrition-sensitive fisheries management measures;
- Interventions to improve nutrition and financial returns for fishers operating in low-resource, data-limited fisheries, including through improved fishing techniques, transport, storing, processing, and marketing;
- Following and informing best practice and policy for improving fisher’s nutritional and financial returns.
