Overall purpose of post

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will have a key role to play in delivering the marketing and communications strategy of Low Carbon Hub. It is a busy role that works across multiple projects with multiple partners, and you will actively input into plans for project delivery. The post holder will write, edit, coordinate and publish content across various channels including websites, social media, press releases, print and online communications and marketing materials.

As part of a small team in a busy environment, we are looking for someone who can proactively get stuck in and be comfortable working flexibly to take on ad hoc tasks when they arise. You will get to be involved in all aspects of communications and work on a variety of interesting projects as part of a leading community energy organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing

• Support the development and delivery of marketing plans for new and existing products and services, including community energy share offers.
• Identify, investigate and recommend opportunities for reaching new audiences, such as potential investors.
• Co-ordinate the design and development of digital and offline marketing collateral to meet organisational objectives, and in consultation with project partners.
• Provide marketing support for events such as AGM, conferences, webinars.
• Represent Low Carbon Hub at events, such as community events, attend meetings, run stalls and give presentations.

Communications

• Lead on developing and uploading engaging content for the Low Carbon Hub website as well as programme websites, such as Action on Carbon and Energy in Schools and Energy Solutions Oxfordshire.
• Manage social media channels, including the creation of engaging content, using the appropriate tone and voice, and lead on responding to and starting conversations to build brand awareness.
• Produce, edit and distribute updates and key material for internal and external audiences such as newsletters, reports, and case studies.
• Provide communications support for Low Carbon Hub programmes such as the Energy Advice Programme and Helpdesk service.
• Work closely with the Community Engagement Manager to develop communications support for low carbon community groups.
• Stay up to date on relevant current affairs and communications trends, building these into our regular communication mix.
• Capture learning and contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities.
• Liaise with, and report to, project partners and funders on a timely basis.

Press

• Field inquiries from press, politicians and service users.
• Create press releases and statements as needed.
• Maintain reporting system for media appearances.

Brand

• Ensure consistent branding is used throughout the organisation and help maintain brand reputation.
• Act as brand champion.

Selection criteria: Experience, knowledge and skills

Essential:

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a dedicated marketing or communications role.
• Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to a high standard.
• Ability to market and coordinate events.
• Excellent understanding of digital platforms and know-how to deliver campaigns.
• An excellent grasp of English and the ability to write concise, focused copy tailored for different audiences, with excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate and translate complex messages into memorable and engaging ones.
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with external contacts and a range of stakeholders.
• A team player with the ability to build relationships with our partners.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, assess and prioritise workload and deliver to a deadline.
• Ability to work flexibly in a small team.
• A commitment to the Low Carbon Hub’s work and mission.

Desirable:

• Able to use Wordpress, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite and Adobe InDesign, or similar programmes.
• Experience in briefing and managing external suppliers such as designers.
• Ability to set up metrics to increase understanding of the impact of marketing activity and to report and use evaluation for improvement.
• Experience of working with Office 365, Trello, Google Analytics, and social analytics.

About the team: 

The Customer Support Centre is multi-channelled, with a mixture of inbound, outbound and email traffic which receives calls and emails for our network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK. The Customer Support Centre also receives calls for several dedicated hotlines in the organisation along with making outbound post adoption support calls. The role will involve delivering exceptional customer service on every interaction for all sorts of queries coming into the organisation. 

What you need to know: 

Normal hours in this role are 40 per week, our national Customer Support Centre is open from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am-5pm on weekends and bank holidays. Due to the nature of our operation, you will be required to work every other weekend (2 weekends per month) with some bank holiday work required. The role is currently hybrid working, with two days a week at our Manchester office (M34 3SG) and three days remotely. Some UK travel may be required as and when needed.

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and inspiring individual to oversee and lead our new YAT Resilience Programme. Following a successful pilot in Wiltshire in 2023, we are now launching the programme in Somerset, a new geographical location for the Youth Adventure Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of YAT’s growth, leading our first move outside of Wiltshire and Swindon. There is plenty of scope to develop this new programme, ensuring it meets its objectives and gives the best possible opportunities to the vulnerable young people who are referred to build their resilience and therefore improve their future lives. 

The Resilience Programme Lead will be responsible for;

• developing the content of the Resilience Programme including identifying, arranging and booking activities and other opportunities; and developing complementary materials such as reflective journals, take home challenges, online support and session plans for individual support.

• delivering the Resilience Programme to groups of young people, ensuring the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and engagement, acting as the key point of contact for them and their parents/carers throughout, and ensuring they get the maximum benefit from the opportunity. 

• the continued review and development of the programme content, experience and learning opportunities to ensure maximum outcomes and that programme objectives are fulfilled. You will seek the views and feedback of young people, and include them as well as other stakeholders in its development. Having a high quality programme that meets its aims is of the utmost importance to YAT and this will require a reflective, insightful and creative leader. 

• monitoring the impact of the programme on the young people taking part through use of our outcomes measurement tool and seeking feedback from young people, parents, referral agencies and volunteers. Reporting on this impact through success stories, data and analysis.

• working with the referral schools and young people’s families to promote understanding of the benefits of the programme, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require. Providing parents/carers and referral schools with feedback to help support the young person’s development and wellbeing. 

• line management for other Resilience Programme Managers, overseeing their workflow and delivery of the programme.

• working with the Volunteering Lead to recruit, train, support, organise and prepare volunteers who will work on the programme, including providing training and ensuring safe working practices and the highest standards of care and safeguarding. On activities you will oversee staff and providers who are brought in to support the delivery of the programme.

• overseeing the programme budget and ongoing expenditure review to ensure it is on track and achieves best value.

• overseeing and developing the programme’s website pages, database usage and administrative systems.

• scoping out and creating opportunities, contacts, networks and support in Somerset in order to raise YAT’s profile in the county.

• supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports and supporting information to help acquire and maintain funding for the programme.

• attending parts of the YAT Adventure Programme, other events and volunteer training throughout the year in order to support the wider functions of the charity.

• acting as an ambassador for the Youth Adventure Trust at all times.

The Candidate

To be up to the challenge you’ll need an excellent understanding and a proven track record of relevant experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people. You’ll need demonstrable skills at building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; young people, parents/carers, schools, volunteers, professional organisations and providers. You’ll need strong leadership and motivational skills; the capacity to get the best out of people and confidently deal with complex issues and challenges. You’ll be an excellent communicator, planner and problem solver, a strong team player and an exemplary role model. 

We need someone with;

Administration and compliance

• To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Lottery and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• Assist in controlling shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• Ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• Adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Lottery.
• Complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embrace the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.

Personnel and Training

• To support the Shop Manager to ensure the Shop’s team are recruited, retained and developed:
• Led by the Shop Manager - provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Shops team.
• Assist in managing all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• Deputise and be accountable for all Shop Manager duties as and when necessary, in their absence due to sickness, holiday or recruitment.
• Assist the Shop Manager to recruit, induct, support, train and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role and Retail Sales meetings if required and cascade information to team as appropriate.
• Assist at other shops if requested and where reasonable.
• Carry out duties in accordance with Trust #Promises.

Customer Service

• To ensure customer care and quality of service.
• Provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.

Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Engineer the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer will deliver an effective integrated maintenance service, aligned with HSE, Inspection Prevention Control, legislative requirements, CQC and Ofsted standards.

As part of the organization’s maintenance function, the Maintenance Engineer will provide planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, inspections, testing, building alteration and refurbishment works. They will also be required to provide technical and professional advice as necessary to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, to the required quality standard, on time, within budget constraints and in accordance with legal and statutory requirements.

These services will be provided at the Tadworth site and retail units in a shift pattern covering 7 days a week.

Job Purpose: We are looking to recruit an empathic, warm, friendly, hard-working and flexible person who is passionate about improving young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health. They must be a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage their own workload. They must be able to work independently within the community.

Salary: £ 26,000 - £29,120

Hours of work: 35 hours per week. Working pattern is Monday -Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm. 

Location: Phoenix Youth Centre plus working across locations in East Surrey as necessary.
