About the Role

The Assistant Reserves Officer is one of our team managing and developing the Trust’s nature reserves for people and wildlife.  Your work place includes internationally recognised wetlands and woodlands along with nationally important meadows, chalk grasslands and heathland across Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

You will need to have strong experience in practical habitat management, including the use of power tools and machinery, such as chainsaws, brush cutters and BCS mowers. You will have experience of working within a dynamic team and leading volunteers. You will need to have a keen interest in wildlife and preferably a knowledge of the habitats in our area.

No two days are the same as an ARO at HMWT; you will get the opportunity to utilise and develop your practical habitat management skills across our nature reserves including tree felling, coppicing, scrub clearance, hay cutting and pond/ditch management. You will also undertake the maintenance of site infrastructure; assist with the management of livestock; and perform surveying and monitoring of habitat/species, tree safety and infrastructure. These tasks will be delivered working closely with members of the nature reserves team; our volunteer wardens and our practical conservation volunteers.

Willingness to travel throughout our work area and flexibility to work occasional irregular hours is required for this post.

Volunteer Coordinator

About the Role

Your objective for the first 12 months in post will be to have:

• Supported the Youth Zone to achieve 1,000 visits by young people a week by ensuring volunteers play a key role in service delivery.
• Collaborated with the delivery and operational team to ensure volunteer opportunities are identified.
• Put in place a robust volunteer recruitment pathway.
• Created a ‘culture of volunteering’ and ensured the critical role of volunteer is understood and valued across the whole organisation.
• Supported each member of the operation and delivery team to line manager between 2-4 volunteers each, providing between 6 and 30 hours of volunteering a week.
• Put in place a reward and recognition scheme that celebrates volunteers’ successes.

The charity is in the process of securing temporary office space in the Preston area, ahead of construction on the new Youth Zone being completed (expected summer 2025). In the first two months of this role, you will also spend time on placement at another North-West based Youth Zone.

About You

With the ability to motivate, inspire and communicate the value of volunteers to all levels of an organisation, you will have experience of:

• Volunteer management best practice, including developing and supporting a wide range of volunteering opportunities
• Developing and delivering a variety of training to small and large groups
• Managing successful relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and external partners and confident in providing advice and guidance to others around policy, procedure and good practice

Head of Youth Work

We are seeking an experienced, flexible, self-motivated person who will work with the Home-Start team, training and supervising a team of home-visiting volunteers, peer Buddies and holding a caseload of families needing support. The role is based in our Watford offices with travel to families and volunteers in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere. Home-Start is a leading family support charity, committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under the age of 5. Parent volunteers offer regular support to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.

This is a full-time role which requires an experienced administrator with CRM experience (Raiser’s Edge) to work closely with the Head of Individual Giving, along with supporting the wider fundraising team.

The Supporter Care Administrator will:

· be responsible for the administration of voluntary income and volunteer administration, ensuring donations are efficiently and accurately identified, recorded and acknowledged, and for the day-to-day management of the volunteer database.

• have the ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
• be professional and a hard-working team player who can remain calm under pressure.
• have excellent written, communication and IT skills along with experience of CRM databases.
• be the lead contact for the coordination of some database projects for the fundraising operation, such as the administration of gift aid claims and coordinating data relating to appeals or volunteers.
• support the fundraising team by providing other administrative support as required.

Role Purpose

To develop and deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project across London, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The post holder will work closely with the Virtual College and Leaving Care teams within London Borough Councils and local volunteers to ensure that we improve and empower the lives of care leavers (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.

Key Duties Responsibilities

· To effectively deliver the service to ensure the project meets its agreed targets and millstones.

· Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff at a day-to day level.

· To ensure volunteers are recruited, appropriately trained and supported in their role; this will involve processing volunteer expenses, DBS checks and maintaining databases.

· To ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided.

· To work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget.

· To maintain accurate administration, for all aspects of the project.

· To maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure database.

· To manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance.

· To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes.

· To prepare regular reports including quarterly progress updates, impact reports and end of year reports for both internal and external purposes.

· To develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally.

· To promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors.

About this vital role

Our Pantry project will support and engage with individuals and families providing them with positive empowering support to address issues such as wellbeing, housing, debt, and employment.  People using the Pantry pay a weekly subscription and, in return, are able to access an abundance of affordable, nutritious food and added support. 

The Pantry Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day running of the Pantry, including carrying out and complying with all health and safety procedures and policies, ensuring stock is stored and managed in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations and providing nutritional and meal planning support and where needed healthy eating plans.

As well as supporting, managing and working alongside a team of volunteers, you will also positively support clients with a range of practical issues, including benefits and debt advice and wellbeing, provide emotional support around areas such confidence building and developing resilience, plus develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies.  Managing the completion of all new client inductions, including Initial Needs Assessments, Risk Assessments and Action Plans, and promoting the service within the local community, arranging promotional events as needed, are also key duties.

What we are looking for

• Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene and Advice and Guidance Level 3 qualification
• Knowledge of food storage and hygiene best practices, including stock rotation principles
• An understanding of variety of cooking techniques and the ability to advise others on how to cook on a budget
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Work constructively with colleagues to achieve project targets and respond to requests
• Strong IT, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• A flexible, professional and collaborative approach to your work.

About the role

The Head of Alumni Engagement is a senior role within the Development Office, which will focus on encouraging a positive experience for our global community of 500,000 alumni. You will support the University’s mission to enable access to education and create an environment for alumni and supporters to contribute to the University’s strategic and philanthropic fundraising priorities. In this crucial role, you will also need to collaborate with and support colleagues and activities across the UoL federation where appropriate.

About this exciting opportunity
Our successful candidate will provide operational management and effective leadership to a team of Financial Wellbeing Coaches (FWCs) and Peer Advisor volunteers employed in the delivery of one or more contracts awarded by the HMPPS to deliver Finance, Benefit and Debt (FBD) services in Wales.  

We will count on you to set performance objectives and monitor progress – ensuring compliance with contractual performance indicators and quality improvement, and to monitor and manage all aspects of delivery and performance.  

This key role will also involve managing partnerships, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders, and managing and coordinating allocated resources, including volunteers and spot purchase funds.  Ensuring there is a safe and trusting working environment for staff and working closely with other St Giles Wise Managers to ensure consistency of approach and sharing of best practice are also key duties.

What we are looking for 

• Experience of working in, or managing, services supporting challenging people
• Experience working in or managing multi-agency partnerships working towards common objectives 
• Hold a relevant qualification, or be able to provide evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice 
• Sound understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload 
• Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, guidance codes of practice and industry standards

Lady Margaret Hall is seeking a motivated, confident and passionate Donor Relations Officer to join the Development Team and ensure we deliver excellent stewardship to our donors.

This appointment is a fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. Hours and days are negotiable. The Development Team are hybrid working with three days per week based in the office. The position includes some out of hours work for event attendance for which TOIL will be given.

Lady Margaret Hall is in the early stages of a major fundraising campaign in the lead up to our 150th anniversary in 2028. The Consultant role will support the Director and Mobilise team to coordinate and  deliver a range of projects supporting our clients. This new and exciting role is well suited to an individual that enjoys building new connections, working with and supporting people and organisations to learn and develop, values working to a high standard and wants to bring about change. The post holder's duties will primarily focus on providing capacity building support to third sector organisations alongside organising events, undertaking community outreach, building and maintaining relationships and networks, writing reports based on analysis and research, and engaging with clients and project stakeholders to prepare bids and deliver new work. 

Main Duties:

• Plan and manage projects to ensure activities are delivered effectively to timescale and budget

• Plan and deliver fieldwork, outreach projects and events to engage residents and organisations 

• Work as part of a team to deliver projects with associates and partner companies

• Undertake research and data collection, including resident engagement activities

• Lead and support the design and delivery of workshops, training opportunities, and resources to support NFP organisations on a range of key capacity building areas

• Work closely with project leads to prepare reporting and supporting documents

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required (Essential) 

• Supporting/Working with or in not for profit (NFP) organisations, in particular voluntary, community and/or social enterprises

• Knowledge or experience of working with NFP organisations of different sizes from grassroots to key anchor and national level organisations and a clear understanding of their current challenges

• Facilitating and developing or supporting events, workshops, focus groups or other similar activities

• Delivering fieldwork and outreach approaches to successfully recruit and engage a wide range of people and organisations

• Help identify an organisation’s development needs

• Excellent people skills that enable you to work sensitively and build trust to develop working relationships with a diverse range of people, organisations and clients from different sectors

Key Terms 

• Salary Range: £27,500-£38,000 (FTE), depending on experience 

• Negotiable full or part time hours – (minimum of 0.6 FTE). The role is open to compressed working in accordance with the needs of the job 

• Home and remote working with one day or more per week at a shared office

• Some travel required within London and England which may include overnight stays according to the needs of contracts (anticipated travel days 2-3 days per month)

• Occasional evening / weekend work required 

• 25 days paid leave per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)
