As our Head of Retention and Customer Journeys you’ll focus on retaining donors and customers, building brand loyalty and driving action in-year, and over a lifetime. Working across all customer segments you’ll help to develop and deliver multi-channel marketing campaigns, customer journeys and communications to cross sell, upsell and ultimately improve Life-Time-Value.

Leading a multi-disciplinary team and working across all customer segments, as well as a broad portfolio of activity including, but not limited to, individual and committed giving programmes, Legacies, Events, and Community campaigns, you’ll be responsible for delivering multi-million-pound mass fundraising income targets. You’ll work closely in partnerships with our agencies and in-house teams, reducing attrition rates, improving engagement and product holing and delivering the most effective customer centric profitable approach to support the work of BHF.

Working arrangements

Please note that this is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
 
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About you

Fully able to effectively use the full suite of MS Office and databases you’ll have an understanding of and empathy with BHF’s cause and objectives. You’ll also have a strong working knowledge of product marketing, customer data and CRM/retention activity.

With extensive commercial experience, able to demonstrate impact/growth in sales and revenue. You’ll have experience of devising and developing retention and customer journey marketing activity, across a full range of channels, in particular below the line, data, direct mail, email and SMS. 

With extensive experience of leading and managing partner agencies, particularly CRM and below-the-line agency management, that aims to drive cut-through and competitive advantage, you’ll have strong strategic and analytical skills, able to translate data into actionable plans and deliver outcomes.

About the role 

As Planning and Propositions Manager in the Brand Marketing and Fundraising Directorate, you will lead and coordinate audience planning efforts across the organisation. The role

We are recruiting for an Interim Head of Diversity and Inclusion for a period of up to one year to provide maternity cover. Location

Our primary light, spacious offices are based in a fantastic location in central London with views over St James’s Park and close to the West End. Join Britain’s biggest charity supporting Kinship Carers. 

We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. Kinship has been awarded funding to develop the first ever training programme for kinship carers. The programme will support all kinship carers across England in the caring role.  

Are you or have you been a kinship carer? Could you use your skills and experience to co-deliver engaging training workshops for other kinship carers?

This role is core member of our Training team responsible for the delivery and facilitation of our in person and online workshops for kinship carers alongside colleagues some of whom have lived experience of kinship care. There will be a lot of delivery in person and online to reach kinship carers across England and individual and team targets to be met as part of this high-profile contract.

You’ll need to be a confident, experienced facilitator with exceptional communication skills. You’ll have a creative, energetic and determined approach to providing engaging and interactive experiences for participants and you’ll understand how people take on information and be able to differentiate your style to respond to a wide variety of needs.

On a practical level you’ll be confident and organised in your approach, be calm under pressure, and be equally comfortable facilitating sessions in person and online to large and small audiences. You’ll be confident using technology including Zoom and be familiar and at ease using a wide range of tools and techniques relevant to both online and in person learning.

This post-holder is important in acting as a first point of contact for the Director. As such, you will need to work efficiently under your own initiative and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and partners, including significant figures in the worlds of music and the church. You will be able to work with attention to detail, and be a good completer-finisher.

The post is advertised as 0.7FTE but we are open to exploring other working patterns with appropriate candidates, including adding additional administration elements to the role. Some weekly presence in our Salisbury office is a requirement of the role.

Youth Engagement Coordinator

Contract: Fixed Term Contract (until 30 April 2025) with the possibility to extend.

Hours: Three days a week (0.6 FTE) – there is flexibility on allocation of these hours across the week.

Please note as this role works with young people there will be occasions where your working hours will be outside the standard 9-5:30pm. This will typically be a few meetings per month that can last until 7pm and about three weekend days over the course of this contract. This is to ensure our activities fit around the young people’s education and work commitments.

Salary: £28,000 per annum (at 0.6 FTE this would be approximately £16,800 before tax).

Holidays: 27 days per year, plus eight bank holidays (pro-rata)

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week.

Support our Youth Steering Group: Our Youth Steering Group is made up of 25 brilliant young people, aged 14-24, who want to make education fairer.

• Work with the Head of Youth Engagement to prepare for and support the group’s monthly Zoom calls, in-person training days and personal development plans.
• Support the young people to work together to write their monthly Youth Bulletin.
• Support the young people to engage with our Board of Trustees. This includes setting up briefing calls and helping the young people prepare their presentation.
• Work with our Membership Engagement Manager to support the young people to participate in FEA Collective Action Working Groups and policy influencing opportunities on themes they are interested in.
• Work with our Head of Communications to support young people to create content to promote the work the group are doing, influence change and get other young people involved.
• Support the evaluation and recruitment processes at the end of the programmatic year.

Support planning and execution of the Youth Summit: In October we will be hosting our second Fair Education Youth Summit in partnership with Mission 44. This will bring together young people from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors

• Support the Events Manager with the event logistics.
• Support with guestlist management and participant communications for the event.  
• Support the Head of Youth Engagement and Impact and Evaluation Manager to collect and analyse the attendance, feedback, and outcome data from the event.

Support facilitation of the Youth Engagement Working Group: Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will:

This may include face to face meetings, email communications and phone calls. This will also include supporting stewardship events within our hospitals.

- Work closely with the Charity Individual Giving Manager utilising the latest technology and techniques to ensure every supporter has a consistent and meaningful journey with our charity, as they progress from individual giving to mid-level giving and beyond 

- Hold a close working relationship with the Charity Programme team and relevant hospital staff to identify projects early and plan solicitation and impact reporting throughout the year

- Support the stewardship of potential legacy donors where major donor-type treatment is appropriate  

- Maintain meticulous records of all major gifts activity on the CRM system and working with the Charity Database & Insight Officer to extract data in a way which helps guide the major donor programme

- Comply with all relevant fundraising regulation including the Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR

- Constantly scan the environment and liaise with peers in the sector to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our donors and are aware of the best possible ways to engage them

Key skills

- Excellent interpersonal and written communication. You will be able to craft inspiring and compelling reports and asks, tailored to our donors interests

- Keen to embrace new technologies including the use of AI and an understanding of how data can inform strategic priorities

- Able to work as part of a collaborative team

- An empathetic and approachable nature, able to form relationships with a range of stakeholders

- Comfortable working in a methodical and planned way to maximise our fundraising success

- Experience working within the charity sector is desirable but not essential

Job Purpose:

• Contribute to hyh’s overall Fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising Team
• Have day to day responsibility for the Individual Giving income stream
• Manage a portfolio of existing Individual Giving supporters, providing exceptional supporter care and building relationships, stewarding and nurturing existing donors.
• Improve supporter retention and maximise donors’ lifetime value to hyh
• Manage, develop and lead on the use of hyh’s CRM effectively to segment data and make insight-led decisions. This includes developing new reports, liaising with the external CRM consultant to make improvements, writing up procedures and training members of the team in best practice.
• Acquire and develop new donors through solicitation and stewardship plans using a supporter journey programme to build engagement and loyalty.
• Develop marketing and comms materials through digital and other channels to deliver the programme.
• Maximise all opportunities to develop regular giving, appeals, one-off occasion donations, in-mem and legacy
