The important stuff 

Salary: from £32,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience (with additional flex) 

Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm with occasional evening work for events such as our Spear Celebrations

• An active Christian, passionate about personally representing the values and beliefs of Resurgo, and our mission to equip and support organisations to play a meaningful part in the repair of our social fabric.
• At least two year’s experience working in an administrative role working with senior leaders, preferably an EA or PA role

Key Responsibilities

Personal Administration Support

• Manage the Chief Executive’s diary, optimising the efficient use of time and resources through effective planning and ‘gate-keeping’ in a relational style that represents the charity’s values
• Ensure all necessary briefing papers and documents are compiled for the Chief Executive in good time in advance of meetings
• Prepare and present excellent Powerpoint and other presentations for internal and external audiences, e.g., meetings with donors, trustees and other key stakeholders.

Governance Support

• Co-ordinate and attend Trustees’ meetings, including arranging dates, preparing papers in advance, taking and sending out minutes
• Administrate the Investors’, Communications, Fundraising, Strategy and Finance, and other Trustee Steering Groups
• Support with various ad hoc projects to enable robust organisational governance
• Coordinate the Strategic Delivery team monthly meeting, and Senior Leadership Team weekly meeting, including organising meeting dates, preparing agendas and sending out minutes, as well as ensuring follow-up actions are completed
• Provide administrative support to the wider senior leadership team

About the Role

Chance UK has been delivering early-intervention services across London since 1995. Our longest running programme is our mentoring service where Mentors pick the child up from home and run a 1:1 session in the community, once a week for 2 hours. They use the solution-focused approach to work on building the child’s self-esteem and confidence, set goals and explore new places.

In addition, we are growing a range of community based groups running after school as well as some workshops delivered in schools which will support children with developing social and emotional skills and resilience through activities or skills development.

The balance between 1:1 work and group delivery will change according to services commissioned so the post holder will need to be flexible accordingly.

We are ideally looking for someone for this role who is in easy proximity to South London as we have a number of children South of the river that need support.

Main purpose and scope of the role:

Parentkind is a national charity representing 13,000 Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) and has a long term ambition to be the voice of parents in policy making. 

We are looking for someone to support our work in Westminster and Whitehall, improving our relationships across Parliament and inside government as we seek to be the credible voice of parents in UK policy making. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of advocacy and policy research in Westminster, either within Parliament or government. If you have a passion for politics, a background in policy research and an interest in education policy and politics this is the role for you.

The role will involve:

• Conducting research on parents, including polling of parents and their views. We have an ambition to make high quality policy recommendations based on this research. 
• Alongside the research requirements of the role, you will be expected to support our political and broader stakeholder engagement activity to make sure the work we do is seen by the right people. 
• Organise and plan political events to communicate our research, including roundtables, lunches and dinners and launch events in Westminster. 
• Lead on responding to public consultations on behalf of Parentkind to ensure the voice of parents is heard in the public consultations.

You will represent Parentkind at important events and meetings and have the chance to promote our research and policy recommendations. We would particularly welcome candidates who can demonstrate some media experience, including writing press releases and placing stories with national media outlets.

Duties and key responsibilities

Policy research and analysis

• To conduct research under the guidance of the Director of Policy and Research.
• To produce summarise large amounts of information and produce briefing material on education policy for external audiences, often at pace.
• To support the development of parent opinion polling related to our policy work.

• To provide rapid briefing material for any relevant future business relating to Parliament and the UK government.

Political engagement

To plan and organise political events, such as roundtable discussions, lunches and dinners and launch events in Westminster.

To identify political stakeholders relevant to our work in Parliament and the UK government, including:

•  think tanks and other relevant research institutions.

To maintain a wide range of political contacts and meet with political stakeholders to promote our research and policy work.

To meet with organisations with an interest in our work and provide effective briefings.

To attend party conferences and other education led events to represent Parentkind. 

Media engagement

To support the Director of Policy and Research in media engagement, including background research for press releases. 

To summarise our policy and research ready for social media platforms.

Overview of Go-Forward:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small charity at a time of big growth. Go-Forward Youth was founded by care leavers to provide support to care experienced young people as they transition to adulthood and independence. Our core aim is to reduce social isolation and improve outcomes for young adults who have recently left the care system by offering a place for them to turn in moments of loneliness, crisis and celebration, and offering programmes that support them to develop the skills required for living independently. Our long-term vision is to combat the stigma that surrounds care leaving so that care leavers feel supported and empowered to achieve their ambitions without barriers to access.

We run a busy programme of social activities, personal development and employability skills training for care leavers across London and are looking for a hardworking, highly motivated and conscientious individual to take responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the charity.

Main Tasks:

To support the Go-Forward Youth CEO in maintaining professional, robust, and efficient administrative systems and records for both Go-Forward Youth as follows:

1.Be the first point of contact for both entities and to manage the office email account and diary, drawing to CEO, Funding Manager or Chair of Trustees matters that they need to action, and ensuring that we respond in timely fashion to all external communications.

2. Administration of courses and programmes

a. Maintain lists of participants and volunteers, including attendance logs

b. Ensure that we maintain appropriate records for each – for identification and compliance, for communications, and for programme progress

c. Produce and distribute regular updates to both volunteers and programme participants

d. Liaise with Local Authorities (LAs) regarding the administrative aspects of developing Go-Forward Youth projects and programmes in other LA boroughs

e. Assist with recruitment and onboarding and on boarding of new staff.

f. Maintain risk assessment, safeguarding, fire safety and other records, making sure all policies are reviewed and updated yearly. Ensure that all staff and volunteers working with clients have been DBS checked (Enhanced).

3. Administration of grant applications

a. Support the Funding Manager by logging, recording and monitoring the progress of Go-Forward Youth grant and funding applications, along with report deadline.

b. Update the CEO and Trustees on in-progress funding applications and ensure action is taken and deadlines are met where necessary.

c. For grants won, ensure that reporting cycles are noted in the charity’s diary, and that the appropriate reports to funders get sent

4. Administration of Board and other internal compliance processes

a. Meet with the CEO weekly to review the overall performance and objectives of the charity.

b. Maintain systemised record keeping of invoices and receipts, to be stored securely and sent to the relevant key personnel.

c. Undertake any other administrative activity necessary to support the smooth running of the charity as instructed by the CEO.

d. Assist the Treasurer or Chair in the preparation, administration and submission of the annual accounts to the Charity Commission and Companies House in a timely manner.

e. Assist in the preparation of board meeting papers, including circulating meeting agendas and taking and distributing minutes of meetings as required.

f. Prepare and send out personalised birthday and celebration cards to young participants.

g. Look for opportunities to create, develop and streamline existing office systems.

h. Support the administration of the lived-experience-led Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and Own-It Alumni Network.

i. Maintain and develop clear and full electronic and physical filing systems.

j. Organise the logistics, catering and other event organisation for the quarterly Trustee meetings and other ad hoc meetings and events as appropriate.

5. Administration of external communications

a. Update and review the communication channels, via website or social media fortnightly.

You should have previous experience working in a public affairs role, and a strong working knowledge of the current Westminster political landscape. You should also have experience working on influencing strategies to create policy change.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our Southampton Care Team.

Synopsis of duties:

Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.

Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+

Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

Be comfortable with running group training sessions and be willing and able to share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.

Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to sign an honorary contract with the Hospital Trust in addition to their contract of employment.

Essential Requirements

Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).

Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.

Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children

Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.

Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.

Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.

Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

As a Legacy Management Officer, you will join the Friends & Family Legacy Management team as part of the UK's largest charity. You will play a valuable role in delivering our Legacy Product Strategy by managing a caseload of pecuniary, residuary, and life interest trust legacies and building collaborative relationships with solicitors, law firms and other professionals involved in legacy giving or Wills substitutes. You will play a key role in being the first point of contact for our supporters/members of the public and in administering estates generously donated to Cancer Research UK by our deceased supporters/ donors in a professional and approachable manner.

Your legacy by the end of this contract will be to have had a deeply human and meaningful impact by engaging with the family and friends to thank, recognise, and share the impact of their loved one's legacy in bringing about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. What will I be doing?

• Managing a paperless caseload of pecuniary, residuary, and life interest trust legacies within your region ensuring to deal with them efficiently and effectively while adding value and safeguarding Cancer Research UK's interests.

• Corresponding with executors engagingly and professionally in line with Cancer Research UK's brand guidelines and values, and the Charity Commission.

• Making pragmatic decisions in line with the Delegated Authority while promoting Cancer Research UK as an easy-to-deal-with and professional beneficiary.

• Seeking support and guidance from the Complex Legacy Management team when appropriate.

• Building relationships with lay executors (non-professional executors) and engaging with the family and friends of the deceased to thank and acknowledge their loved one's legacy, and to provide information about the impact of their gift/ will.

• Promoting the team within Cancer Research UK which will involve reporting on and sharing interesting and impactful legacy stories.

• Accurately estimating and updating the value of each legacy gift ensuring to undertake additional checks as required and participating in pre-audit compliance work.

• Adhering to Cancer Research UK's financial and Data Protection policies.

• Undertaking additional activities to support the overall Legacy Strategy and improve the team.

• Providing excellent legacy administration and engaging with legacy professionals to create a positive view of Cancer Research UK and the wider legacy charity sector.

• Supporting the Legacy Partnership Manager in implementing the engagement strategy (including events and other relationship-building activities).

• Attending engagement events and professional visits within your region where a Legacy Management perspective is beneficial. Such as:

• Being the first point of contact for legacy queries from supporters and members of the public.

What are you looking for?

• Legacy Management or Legal background. Ideally is a qualified solicitor (or qualified by experience) in probate, trust, and charity law.

• Knowledge of probate and trust law.

• Accounting and Tax knowledge (particularly estate accounts, investment management, share valuations, management accounting, reporting; income tax, inheritance tax, and capital gains tax).

• Strong attention to detail/data accuracy (particularly when inputting into case management systems).

• Proven time management and organisational skills. This includes:

  • A track record of working under minimal supervision while managing or helping to manage a legacy administration or an equivalent function.

  • A flexible approach and comfortable in navigating ambiguity and challenging environments/ contexts (such as engaging with the family and friends of deceased donors).

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills with the ability to gain buy-in and collaboration.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to create connections that make great things happen.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP The Mount, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.
