The Direct Marketing Executive will be a key role within the Acquisition & Development Team, supporting the team and its activities as a whole, but also owning and becoming the expert in specific areas in line with the Fundraising Strategy.  Specific areas of focus currently are around digital acquisition, and with a particular focus on ensuring detailed tracking and reporting are in place for all campaigns across the team.

This role sits within the Individual Giving and Legacy team reporting to the Development Lead.  It also works closely with the wider Acquisition & Development Manager, the wider Fundraising Division, and cross functionally with other teams within the organisation.

About the role:

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown.  Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. Pete’s Dragons is an award-winning charity which provides postvention support to those affected by suicide.

As the Charity continues to grow we need to increase the number of Suicide Bereavement Specialists who provide the Charity's postvention offering across our Devon offices.

Job Summary

The role of the Suicide Bereavement Specialist is to provide a proactive and timely community-based support to individuals, families, groups and/or communities who have experienced a suicide loss.

The hours for this role are flexible, with 24 hours/week being the minimum.

Main duties

Support

Offer a sensitive, compassionate and needs-led service to individuals, families, groups or communities affected or bereaved by suicide.

Offer rapid response (within 48 hours), information and support to individuals, families, groups or communities who have been bereaved by suicide, in their home or other agreed settings, and follow with ongoing practical and emotional support; mainly through non-clinical interventions that promote coping and resilience so our beneficiaries can face and overcome their traumatic bereavement.

Exercise good judgement in assessing each case and establishing the most appropriate steps for ongoing support, signposting or onward referral.

Co-ordinate where necessary, a safeguarding response in line with local practices and services to ensure that an individual is safe and has an organised package of care to ensure they survive their crisis in the most helpful manner for them.

Produce an area-specific suicide bereavement resources pack to include all relevant information on support services and processes following a suicide death.

Develop strong relationships with key agencies and first responders in the area to establish ways to connect bereaved individuals in a timely and helpful manner (e.g. police, emergency services, clergy, child services, coroners, funeral directors).

Contribute to critical incident responses where appropriate and take an active role where possible.

Assist with the early identification of potential suicide connected deaths and liaise with the Pete’s Dragons suicide surveillance team and appropriate stakeholders and relevant agencies, to ensure timely and appropriate coordinated responses.

Undertake collaborative multidisciplinary work to uphold safety and support for the communities of need (e.g. working with school staff, mental health staff, peers, or family members) to ensure they are contained by well-informed communities.

Administration

Work internally with the Senior Management Team, suicide bereavement colleagues, placement counsellors and therapists and in conjunction with external agencies to ensure parity of service across the whole of the County of Devon.

Maintain timely administrative updates on the Pete’s Dragons’ case management system.

Maintain an effective and efficient diary of appointments.

Participate in the implementation and promotion of the Devon Suicide Prevention Implementation Plan and understand how the role of both the Suicide Bereavement Specialist and Pete’s Dragons fits within it.

Contribute to training/awareness raising in suicide bereavement.

Gather and report on all qualitative and quantitative data required in relation to monthly activities and casework.

AWF is seeking a confident and highly organised Development Officer to join our ambitious External Affairs team on a part-time basis for 9 month maternity contract, beginning end September. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Donor Engagement UK, the Development Officer’s role is to provide back-end support to the UK fundraisers supporting the moves management process and smooth running of the virtual office, ensuring compliance with UK laws. The position will manage all elements of the virtual office, administration and reporting and support the team in managing portfolios of donors and prospects targeting mid-level and high net worth individuals, corporates and foundations.  

Key Responsibilities

Administration

• Manages virtual offices and membership programme payment processing in collaboration with our data services team based in the US.

Portfolio growth and stewardship

• Works closely with the global research team to develop prospect lists for UK donors/partners – ensuring AWF is using the best possible tools for research and prospecting in the UK mindful of GDPR.
• Support fulfilment of UK donor stewardship plans to ensure all donors have appropriate and considerate communications from AWF working with AWF’s Communications team, Digital Officer and Director of Annual Giving.

Donor Information Management

• Oversees RE records for UK donors and prospects, making sure mailing lists are correct and can easily be drawn down for communications, maintaining accurate records of all donor interactions, individuals’ programmatic interests, trends in giving, and type of support to solicit.
• Works with Data Services and the UK team to review portfolios and make sure amendments are made on Raiser Edge ( RE).

Content Development and Communications

• Manages regular mailings to target audiences, as well as invitations to organisational wide donor engagement activities.
• Sends donor acknowledgements by email and phone calls (for smaller gifts).

Requirements and Skills

• Knowledge of the UK fundraising market, UK data protection guidelines and best practice and experience of working within these guidelines.

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts. 

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

Health Poverty Action (HPA) acts in solidarity with poor and marginalised communities in their struggle for health and social justice, recognising these injustices are often rooted in colonialism and imperialism (both historical and ongoing) and have strong racial and gender dimensions.

We develop and implement locally rooted and culturally appropriate solutions to improve health for communities in 10 countries across Central America, Asia and Africa. Alongside these global programmes, we campaign to change the unjust policies and practices that push people into poverty and destroy their health and tackle the powerful vested interests that sustain them.

As Partnership Officer, you will be the critical driver of growing our partnerships fundraising and ensuring that more people worldwide are able to realise their right to health. 

• Job purpose: To help grow unrestricted income for Health Poverty Action through community and corporate partnerships. 
• Location: Home-based, within commuting distance to London for events and meetings. 
• Salary: £26,095 rising in length of service increments to £29,832.

Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. This will include recruitment, resourcing, relationship-building and supporting our event participants in their fundraising efforts. We are also excited for you to develop and oversee other innovative and profitable one-off events. 

• Fundraising Management: You will monitor and report on fundraising activities, manage relevant website pages, and ensure effective administration and record-keeping. You’ll need to stay abreast of industry trends and react accordingly to maximize opportunities.

We are recruiting for a private international charitable foundation which seeks to support environmental recovery, supported by cultures and economies grounded in Earth lore, in line with their “breathe freely” ethos.  As such they are committed to grants and other investments that are healing to the climate, to biodiversity, and to human cultural relations with the other-than-human. The foundation is currently based in a Hong Kong family office, with personnel in Hong Kong and the UK, as well as Cameroon, Brazil, Australia, Papua, and the US.

The organization has been in a phase of significant growth and change over the last five years and are increasingly bringing systems, data and associated functions in-house to support the record keeping and analytics they need to inform their growing operations.

Role

This is a new position. Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, you will be involved in all the duties required to maintain a complete general ledger and financial records and support financial planning/forecasting.

International Accountant Responsibilities

— The responsibilities of the International Accountant will include, but are not limited to:

International Accounting Operations

• Develop a General Ledger Chart of Accounts which supports our current grantmaking operations with the flexibility to accommodate various directions in our growth, allows easy consolidation with sister entities, and is IFRS compliant to allow us to provide regulatory and audit reporting in various jurisdictions.
• Implement optimal Chart of Accounts and processes, evaluating current and alternate accounting systems as needed and developing interface processes to existing systems as needed (HRIS, Payroll, Grants Management System, expense reporting) as needed.
• Perform duties necessary for the timely and accurate verification and recording of financial and investment (MRI/PRI) operations including general ledger, entries and reconciliations, investment portfolio tracking and transactions, international payroll, benefits and taxes.
• Work closely with Human Relations Specialist on payroll and benefits administration processes.
• Collaborate with senior management team, Operations Manager and others to determine an optimal process for reviewing and approving expenses.
• Audit corporate credit card(s).
• Identify institution and global consolidated reporting needs with senior management team and agree schedule and distribution for regular financial reporting.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

• Assist in preparation of the annual organisational and department budgets.
• Monitor and provide quarterly budget performance reports and analysis to organisation and departments with close cooperation to develop and implement measures to minimize variance.
• Assist staff to self-manage budgets.
• Support financial planning and forecasting including developing scenarios for growth.

Cash Flow Management

• Reconcile annual and quarterly projected expenses and cash flow requirements and coordinate with family office for redemption decisions.
• With Operations Manager and Human Relations Specialist, maintain and improve policies and organization discipline for accurate and timely processing of accounts payables, employee expense reports, travel guidelines, time reporting, etc.

Regulatory and Audit Compliance (initially in support of regulatory reporting through the family office)

• Strengthen financial systems integrity and controls according to IFRS, tax and regulatory measures and foundation policies.
• Build systems for timely and accurate provision of data and provide direct support for annual audit and tax filing.
• Work with external advisors, as needed, to ensure compliance with relevant country and international regulatory requirements in areas of taxes, documentation requirements, payroll and benefits.

General and Other

• Develop and manage relationships with accounting-related service providers as needed including in-country and global accountants, auditors, payroll and tax experts.
• Develop and maintain an asset inventory/schedule.
• Support for MRI/PRI activities as needed.
• Continually improve internal financial processes.
• Potential management of banking relationships, international wire transfer and/or other payments systems.
• Occasional travel as required for execution of duties.
• Other duties as are consistent with accountant’s role and experience as the foundation continues to evolve, or from time to time as prompted by institutional priorities.

Qualifications

— The successful International Accountant candidate will likely reflect much of the following profile:

 Essential

• Several years of progressively responsible professional experience in international accounting, ideally in an international organisation and / or in auditing / tax consulting.
• Accounting experience in philanthropy or non-profit.
• Experience in multiple tax jurisdictions and working in multi-currency environments.
• In-depth IFRS knowledge.
• Excellent, hands-on knowledge of web-based systems including accounting (current platform is Xero), and office suite platforms (proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred).
• Comfortable in complex and highly matrixed environments. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with peers across disciplines and functions in shared efforts with proven ability to influence without direct formal authority.
• Comfortable working remotely.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible and re-prioritize as needs arise.
• Pleasant and effective communication skills, written and oral. (English is our working language).
• Experiential cross-cultural understanding and perspective, aware and appreciative of differing worldviews and the ability to communicate with and learn from the wide variety of people who comprise our grantees, allies and staff.

• Prior experience with an international non-profit organization or grantmaking foundation.
• Fluency in a second language with preference for dominant languages of one of our working regions (e.g. French, Portuguese, Bahasa, Thai, Lao, Burmese).

• Strong analytical, conceptual, and creative problem-solver who continually looks for new ways to improve processes with a “can do” attitude and a sense of humour.
• Located in and able to legally work in the UK or Hong Kong.

The Role Within Unseen

Unseen provides support to people who have experienced Modern Slavery and Human trafficking and actively champions capturing voices in our work and providing development opportunities for those we are working with.

The Policy & Research team are currently leading three projects. The Survivor Involvement Coordinator will support in the delivery of these projects.

 This role will work with Unseen’s Policy & Research Team and have regular interactions with staff across Unseen’s wider teams including Support Services, Fundraising, Media & Communications and Operations.

Purpose of the role

The postholder will support the collation of lived experience voices into our research work focused on policy impact on what really works to prevent modern slavery. The postholder will work closely with the Policy & Partnerships Manager, the Policy & Partnerships Officer, Senior Caseworkers and Unseen’s Survivor Consultant Volunteers and be responsible for supporting and improving our wellbeing activities, survivor voice forum and consultant focus groups.
