About the role:

Action again Medical Accidents (AvMA) is seeking a Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications to drive the diversification of their income streams, enhance their public profile, and develop robust marketing and communications strategies to support their mission of preventing medical accidents and supporting affected individuals.

This is a brand new role and an opportunity to shape and develop not just the role itself, but the team and the full suite of strategic objectives and activities to help support AvMA’s mission, vison and values.

You will play a pivotal role in helping AvMA to design plans to deliver additional income through a combination of fundraising, marketing and communications efforts that together widen their reach, empower more people and deliver their strategic aims.

And whilst this role may be new, as a charity they are not. AvMA is well-respected and have a strong brand and presence in the patient safety arena. So, whilst in the role you’ll be building something new, you will be doing so on solid foundations with a strong reputation for authenticity and impact on behalf of those they support and work with. 

About you:

With a demonstrable track record in developing multi faceted fundraising strategies and experience in marketing and communications, you’ll bring the skills needed to successfully deliver and establish a range of fundraising activities. As this is a new role, some areas of work may have not been established yet and so you’ll use your creative and solution focused mindset to generate the ideas and bring them to life, leading and motivating others as you go. 

As a strong storyteller you’ll use your skills to help AvMA raise its profile, create a better clarity of voice and widen its reach - connecting with new communities and audiences in order to increase the potential of AvMA’s impact and make a difference to more people lives.

You’ll be comfortable working autonomously and acting as the lead subject matter expert for all things fundraising, marketing and communications, taking a blank canvas, spotting opportunity, and delivering success for AvMA and its beneficiaries. You will also have overall responsibility for a budget to help you to develop what is needed, such as people, resources or infrastructure - so budget management experience is essential too.

Experience in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as you’ll need to be comfortable with both the strategic development side and inputting into wider planning, as well as being a leader who is willing to role up your sleeves and ‘do’. 

Ideally you’ll have held a role with a similar scope of responsibilities around fundraising, marketing and communications, as well as people management, however you don’t need to have held a director level role before. This is likely to be your next step and provides a very tantalising opportunity to develop, design and deliver a new function and really make it your own!

What we can offer you:

 

Salary: Circa £75,240 - £79,302 per annum, negotiable dependant on experience.

Location: Remote role. Although staff predominantly work from home, we place huge value on working as a team and supporting each other.There is an expectation that AvMA staff will get together in person at least three times a year at the office, currently in Croydon; the Staff Days are well structured, collegiate and help the organisation to maintain the emphasis on playing as a team.

Hours of work: You will be contracted hours are 35 hours per week (full time) 

Pension: AvMA also offer a stakeholder pension where the charity will provide a 5% contribution based on qualifying earnings if the employee pays in at least 3%.

Holiday: 25 days a year (full time), plus bank holidays. An additional day’s leave is acquired for each year of service up to five days. In addition, the office closes over the Christmas break for 3 days, for which annual leave does not have to be taken.

About you

You should have significant experience in individual client work in the fields of addictions, mental health, or social care, working with adults or young people. The successful candidate should live within a reasonable distance from GamCare’s London office, as there will be expectations to work from the office when required and travel across Greater London for service delivery or community events.

About the role

Support our Peer-led Recruiters in custody to identify and support Inside Job candidates. Assist with CV and Disclosure writing and help build a pipeline of candidates.

Work closely with the Prison Employment Lead and build a strong relationship with the relevant prison staff in the Activities and Resettlement Teams and at Governor level to support and facilitate Inside Job.

Support the London Programme Lead to engage employers and plan monthly interview surgeries.

Build relationships with the identified local and national employers and to promote Inside Job and Beating Time to them.

Support our Job Candidates to find work in the community on release from prison.

Support the Inside Job Team and the Senior Management Team in drawing up and developing a strategy to identify and target local and national employers in a range of fields who can offer jobs to people leaving prison.

Building relationships with local Probation offices and staff, DWP/Local Authority initiatives and Police & Crime Commissioner/Violence Reduction Unit and any other official and/or relevant third sector/voluntary organisations to promote Inside Job and Beating Time to them with the aim of creating more referrals and opportunities for Candidates, creating stronger support networks for Candidates and Inside Job and to help embed Inside Job and Beating Time as a key part of the community.

Keeping up to date records with all relevant data on the Beating Time system to assist with monitoring the effectiveness of the programme, supporting funding applications, reporting to prisons and funders and to allow review and adaptation of the strategy.

Case Management. Maintaining an up-to-date list of all programme participants and release dates and identifying where there are employment needs.

As the Divisional Business Manager, you will successfully develop the CRUK retail business both strategically and operationally in order to achieve income and profit targets, delivering through the Divisional Management team. You will be managing circa 8/9 Area Managers, 200 shops with a field-based infrastructure of approx 600 employees and 3,500 retail volunteers.

What will I be doing?

• To be the key decision maker to drive commercial performance of the division by working with both internal business partners and external partners where appropriate.

• In collaboration with the Divisional Manager leadership team, ensure retail operational objectives are delivered to the highest standard, that efficiencies are achieved and regular reviews are completed to continuously improve the operating model.

• Develop and deliver the divisional income, expenditure and contribution budgets; identify key financial risks and opportunities to maximise cost efficiencies.

• Monitor and evaluate area and divisional financial and non-financial performance against key performance indicators, benchmark against internal divisions and external competitors, report on variances and implement appropriate remedial contingency plans.

• To develop a divisional stock management strategy to maximise income, operating efficiencies and maintain statutory H&S standards.

• To develop excellent relationships with key internal stakeholders and CRUK departments both inside and outside of Fundraising and Marketing, in particular Volunteer Fundraising, Volunteering, HR and Research Engagement.

• Work with other Departments in a lead capacity for Trading and across the Directorate to ensure a collaborative approach to achieving objectives and influencing future strategies.

• You’ll work closely with and support the CEO of Eastbourne Foodbank in maintaining and evolving the existing relationship with the Big Lottery Fund and developing collaborative fundraising activities and joint bids with five other Trussell Trust Foodbanks across East Sussex.

The Dementia Support Line Team Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Support Line which receives over 60000 calls per year and operates across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

The Dementia Support Line Team Leader manages a team of Dementia Advisers providing leadership and direction to ensure they provide a highly responsive service, giving appropriate advice and support to people affected by dementia. 

In this role you will coach and develop your team to deliver high quality person-centred support for everybody affected by dementia. You will be part of the team ensuring management cover across the operating hours of the service. Key responsibilities: 

- Responsible for the recruitment, development and performance management of Dementia Advisers working within the service. - Engender a positive, solutions focussed working environment with a good team spirit and sense of equity. 
- Manage competing demands and deadlines by adopting a flexible and proactive approach.

About you
 
As a Dementia Support line Team Leader you will:

- Be able to manage your team to ensure the provision of a high quality service to people affected by dementia.
- Have experience of managing staff as well as strong IT skills and the ability to use management data to ensure KPIs and standards of service are met.
- Have experience of integrated telephony systems and service user databases.
- Have an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers and direct experience of working in a lead role in a telephone and e-mail based service.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Have the ability to coach, mentor and support staff, getting the best out of them.

This job will be based at our gorgeous Bath Farm, which also acts as the charity’s HQ. The successful candidate will need to be at the Bath Farm at least two days a week. This role will involve regular travel in order to build connections with potential partners and to develop relationships with all of our farms. It will also involve attendance at conferences and events, to help raise our profile. 

About Jamie’s Farm

Jamie’s Farm is a charity which helps young people to flourish at home, in education and in the community through an intensive weeklong immersion in rural life. During a busy residential stay, young people help us run large working livestock farms and tackle many challenging and unfamiliar jobs, designed to offer everyone an opportunity for achievement, thereby building their self-esteem and confidence. They live in a supportive family environment that encourages them to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Our therapeutic input makes use of individual and group sessions to allow children to reflect on their lives on the farm and back home, to draw out tangible strategies for improvements to be realised when they return home.

Our programme is shown to have long term positive impacts on the lives of the young people we support. At the end of their visit, 66% of all young people showed improved mental wellbeing. Six weeks after their visit, of those with concerning attendance, 67% were no longer of concern. Six months after their visit, of those previously at risk of permanent exclusion, 64% were no longer at risk. These dramatic changes are only possible through the combined efforts of the entire Jamie’s Farm team.

Partnerships Manager Role 

Jamie’s Farm is quickly growing to help meet the increasing needs of young people from around the UK. The legacy of the pandemic, increasing mental health challenges and the cost-of-living crisis are all causing more children than ever to need the support of programmes like ours. Our existing farms are all full to capacity and booked many months ahead. As part of our strategic plan, we wish to grow our capacity and expand our geographical presence so that we can help more children, from more communities, during the second decade of Jamie’s Farm’s history. 

The Partnerships Manager plays a crucial role in the next phase of Jamie’s Farm’s growth. Our new farm in Skipton opened its doors to young people for day visits in April 2023 and is currently undergoing development as another residential farm. We have also just purchased a second farm near Bath, which is currently being developed. Combined, these two sites will allow us to work with another 80 partners and support almost 1,000 more young people every year. 

The Partnerships Manager’s principal task will be finding and developing these new partnerships. This will involve building relationships with schools, local authorities, academy chains and other charities around the country, sharing the benefits of a Jamie’s Farm programme and supporting them to make a visit possible. The Partnerships Manager will also work closely with other members of the HQ team to develop and expand other earned income streams, all of which are used to directly subsidise our groups of visiting young people.
