Responsibilities

Administrative support:

• Assist the Production Manager with mailing specifications, collating internal information, creating purchase orders, and related administration.
• Support the Media Manager in arranging regional coverage for overseas staff in the UK.
• Provide administrative, planning, and organisational support to the Head of Communications and other team members.
• Administer and curate the archive of MAF documents.
• Work with the HR team to collect and store data processing consent forms.

Scheduling and Planning:

• Update and maintain the organisation’s print and digital communications schedule in collaboration with audience managers.

Content Creation:

• Contribute to digital communications including website content and social media.
• Assist in creating monthly print and digital communication documents at design and proofing stages.
• Support design tasks such as picture editing and layout.
• Create subtitles for digital content.
• Participate in creative idea and planning sessions

Updates and Research:

• Monitor staff blogs for potential stories and produce a weekly roundup of social media posts.
• Monitor external websites and news sources for relevant stories and brief teams accordingly.
• Provide research support as required.

Media Library Management:

• Upload and remove media assets, ensuring accurate metadata and compliance with MAF procedures.
• Support staff with acquiring and transferring assets from overseas programmes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the media library.

Terms and Conditions

• Location: This is a hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, 1st Floor Castle House, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2TQ.  One day per week will be spent at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Henwood, Ashford, TN24 8DH and the other two days can be from home. 
• Working Hours: This is a full time role (at least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid) but requiring some flexibility on the successful candidate to work additional hours occasionally some of which could be outside the normal business hours.   Hours should be agreed with line manager.
• Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement of 22 days per year and 8 paid public holidays per year.

We are looking for an exceptional Communications Officer (Fundraising) to join our Marketing and Communications team, with a focus on raising awareness amongst existing and potential stakeholders and fundraisers. Working closely with the Fundraising team, you will be responsible for researching, sourcing, and writing powerful fundraising stories and case studies, ensuring consistency with our brand and messaging, that bring the RNRMC to life which engender support and drive engagement.

Hours of Work

Hours of work are 35 hours per week, 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Frequent travel to meet and interview beneficiaries will be required, along with a willingness to work outside normal office hours to obtain the story.

We have a friendly, supportive, and inclusive environment with a hybrid working framework involving the opportunity to work from home and in the RNRMC offices. There will be a small number of roles where employees will be required to work only from our offices, but typically most employees will be able to work remotely on average 40% of their working week. Salary

The full time equivalent annual salary range for the post is between £26,500 up to £29,000 per annum based on experience.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver membership communications through our website, email and social media
• Creating and sending out member emails, ensuring that activity is consistent, accurate and timely
•  Creating social media posts across multiple Twitter accounts, as well as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram ensuring they are accurate, consistent and timely

Supported by its six-year strategy (2021-2027), Moorfields Eye Charity has ambitious and exciting plans to grow to become a £10 million a year charity and more widely embed a culture of philanthropy across the Moorfields family (including Moorfields Eye Hospital, UCL, the Friends of Moorfields and Moorfields Private) whilst delivering on its current £100 million fundraising campaign creating the centre for advancing eye health (an initiative known as Oriel).

In support of its ambitions, the Head of communications will develop, lead and deliver the charity’s integrated communication programme and strategy focused on increased sustained and strategic visibility of the charity and its work together with supporting the delivery of its fundraising and grant making priorities.

The post holder will lead the communications team at the charity to ensure that communications activities support the charity’s vision and maximise delivery of its plans. The post holder will be responsible for building strong and sustained relationships with peers and leaders across the Moorfields partners shaping and delivering effective communications strategies in support of the charity’s goals.

Key experience includes:

• Extensive experience in communications planning and delivery, particularly in support of fundraising and grants making programmes and strategies
• Strong knowledge of developing and delivering effective organisational cross channel communications strategies
• Supporting communications around impact evaluation and reporting
• Proven ability leading a communications team
• Liaising and influencing high-level executives and key stakeholders
• Knowledge of working in a charity, health or research setting
• Preparing, managing and monitoring annual plans and budgets

What you’ll need for the role:

• Knowledge of the public, charity, education or care sectors, with a focus on fundraising
• Proven experience in the delivery of marketing and communications materials
• Experience of working with website content management systems and social media management software
• A history of developing and delivering effective communications across a range of social media platforms
• Ability to write high quality marketing communications copy that is engaging, informative, interesting and has story telling at its heart
• Skilled at producing photographic and short film clip content
• A keen eye for design with a high level of creativity
• Proficient in the preparation, scheduling and engagement with social media across platforms using management dashboards
• Adept in the use of image manipulation software, email marketing systems and automation platforms
• A degree or qualification in communications is not essential but would be beneficial.
• We’re looking for a motivated and results driven marketing officer, to embrace and drive change and improvement through effective communication.
