The Forces Employment Charity is seeking a dedicated Communications Officer on a 10-month maternity leave contract to join our lively MarComms team. You will be focusing on providing both digital and traditional marketing support to the programmes that provide employment advice and guidance to UK Armed Forces veterans.
Role: You will be responsible for raising and sustaining the profile of the Forces Employment Charity’s Ex-Forces Employment programme and Veterans Support Programme, with potential and current clients, employers, and other partner organisations. The post holder will play a vital role in the marketing team and will be the first point of contact for staff from both teams.
Each comms officer has a ‘strength’ in lead of a particular area of MarComms. In this role, you will lead in-house digital content creation across the organisation. The wider team will work collaboratively with you to support production and other team members as required.
The role reports to the Marketing Manager. It is a temporary full-time position to cover a 10-month maternity leave period. It is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday and pays £28,500 Pro Rata. The successful candidate will be working on a hybrid basis with occasional travel to the headquarters in central London (an opportunity to work with the MarComms Team in the office).
Principal Responsibilities:
· Proactively acting as the MarComms designated contact for the Ex-Forces Employment Programme and Veterans Support Programme and their communications and marketing requirements.
· Co-ordinating and producing the MarComms digital content such as vox pops for internal and external events by conducting insightful interviews, short video clips, and editing seamless productions to coordinate and produce MarComms digital content, such as vox pops, for internal and external events.
· Virtual and in-person event support.
· Supporting the Marketing Manager and coordinating the team’s contributions towards the established MarComms ‘Topic of the Month’ (TotM) framework. Align content pieces across the department, such as creating articles, social posts, newsletters, case studies, etc, to ensure the delivery of consistent messaging.
· Scheduling content on social media channels (currently X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) using content management software. Including uploading and publishing videos onto YouTube.
· Recording, drawing and analysing insights from social media, campaign work to continually review and evaluate and adapt your output.
· Creating online and offline content, including written articles and still/motion graphics.
· Website page and post updates, working with website lead - the Head of Brand and Marketing.
· Supporting the Customer Engagement Manager with producing email newsletters and required content.
· Assisting the Head of Brand and Marketing by ensuring the correct use of the Forces Employment Charity’s brand guidelines internally and externally.
· Collaborating with external communication managers from delivery partners and stakeholders as required for joint working initiatives.
· Acting as a brand guardian for your team’s programme presentations using established brand templates, guidelines and writing style guide.
· When required, undertaking other tasks in support of the Forces Employment Charity’s wider work.
Essential Competencies:
· Experience in creating content for on- and off-line channels.
· Ability to draw and analyse insights from social media/YouTube platforms.
· Excellent written English.
· Proficiency in utilising recording equipment to capture high-quality visuals.
· Experience using editing software, e.g. Premier Pro.
· Experience using design software, e.g. Canva.
· Experience using social media scheduling software.
· Proven ability to deliver outcomes by demanding time and quality targets and to deal with conflicting priorities calmly and appropriately.
· Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills.
Desirable Competencies:
· Empathy with and a good understanding of ex-Forces personnel and the challenges they can face.
· Experience in creating paid social media campaigns.
· Experience of working within a charity.
· Experience in working with creative agencies and freelancers.

MAIN PURPOSES OF THE JOB
The Stella Maris (SM) Regional Port Chaplain will promote the vision, mission and values of SM in caring for all seafarers and fishers by helping to meet their pastoral and spiritual needs. They will recruit, train and support SM staff and volunteers for the port and will maintain good relations with local parishes and the local diocese. They will work ecumenically with members of other Christian maritime societies with whom SM works.
1. To meet the welfare and pastoral needs of all seafarers and fishers equally according to their needs and wishes. To be an advocate on their behalf, upholding the dignity of each. Through regular and frequent ship visiting, to understand the working and living conditions of the seafarer and fishers and be able to work for justice and for the well-being of all crew members without distinction.
2. To address the communication needs of seafarers, providing transport, news, and access to telephone and internet facilities.
3. To address the welfare needs of seafarers and fishers, including support with money transfers, hospitality, and crisis support, e.g. abandonment, injury and death, detainment, bereavement, advice and access to medical care.
4. To meet the ecclesial, spiritual, and sacramental needs of Catholic seafarers and fishers; to facilitate the religious and spiritual needs of others and to be a pastor to all, sharing one’s faith as appropriate.
5. To participate in SM conferences, ongoing formation and other professional courses as required.
6. To supporting seafarer centre functioning.
7. To recruit, train, develop and retain a SM ship visiting volunteering team.
8. To represent SM on the local Port Welfare Committee(s), to include attending such meetings and submitting reports.
9. To liaise and maintain good working relationships with all port stakeholders, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the International Transport Workers’ Federation, port health, harbour masters, dockers, security, and shipping agents.

11. To encourage and support the development of an ecumenical service to seafarers through engagement with our ecumenical colleagues, including the Mission to Seafarers, The Fishermen’s Mission, The Sailors’ Society (to name a few).

Regional Port Chaplain for Southern Ports

Stella Maris UK is a well-known and respected charity within the maritime industry We are the largest ship visiting network in the world. As a Regional Port Chaplain, you will be responsible for being the face of the charity when visiting ships, seafarers, fishers and their families. You will also be representing the charity at meetings, conferences, events and any other required functions. You will need to be effective, efficient, well organised, confident and comfortable in working with all other stakeholders, organisations and charities whilst undertaking various tasks in and out of the port environment.
The role will also require interactions and communication with various staff members at head office, the Senior Area Port Chaplain and other members of the team, as well as communicating and building relationships with local Catholic parishes. You may also be asked to attend various meetings or gatherings where you would be asked to give a presentation on the work of Stella Maris.
It will be vitally important to be flexible whilst working within this role and environment using as much effective time management as possible, but remaining creative and using initiative, when necessary, in certain situations and circumstances.
The role of chaplain can often be a lonely and sometimes isolated role that may require some out of hours working. Things do not always go according to plan and sometimes you may not be welcomed onboard. The role can be challenging mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically (long, steep gangways to board ships). You will be part of a team that has chaplains spread out through the South of England and Wales, as well as being part of a larger team of chaplains in the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Chaplains in the South of England and Wales gather together for a retreat and social time once a year, and the whole organisation will also meet annually for a retreat and staff conference.
Supporting seafarers is a varied, demanding, rewarding, fulfilling and vital ministry.

Key Details

The Royal British Legion (RBL), the leading Armed Forces charity, is looking for an experienced marketing manager to join their Fundraising directorate and lead a brilliant team to develop and implement a range of supporter acquisition marketing programmes to achieve the growth ambitions of their Fundraising strategy.
RBL holds a special place in the hearts and minds of generations of people in society. As the largest military charity in the UK and home of the extraordinary Poppy Appeal it has provided support to members of the Armed Forces community for over 100 years. Today is no different. The needs of veterans, young and old, serving personal and their families are growing and complex. To support them the charity needs to raise awareness and donations.
The Supporter Acquisition team at RBL is responsible for all marketing to attract new supporters across a large portfolio of appeals/products and media. The charity is seeking a team leader who has significant expertise with a wide range of marketing channels and can really add value to large well-established programmes with their experience, knowledge and drive to continually improve, identify appropriate new opportunities and shape supporter acquisition programmes.
The role involves leading an experienced team of two managers and two co-ordinators, and leading relationships with key suppliers. The marketing programmes include most significantly face-to-face fundraising (from stands in retail space or expos/outdoor events and door-to-door) and DRTV advertising, plus some print campaigns, payroll giving and 3rd party marketing. The role will also manage development projects that could include aspects of digital fundraising. An important part of the role is developing advertising for the nation’s largest charity appeal, the Poppy Appeal each November.
RBL introduced a new fundraising strategy last year called ‘Three Giants’ to focus on protecting and strengthening three vital areas of income generation, the Poppy Appeal, individual giving and gifts in wills. As an experienced senior marketing manager, you would hit the ground running to optimally deliver plans with your team, whilst helping to shape programme strategies and review supply requirements. The Role
FARA is looking to launch the charity’s new Individual Giving programme and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to lead the creation and launch of this.
It is an exciting time for the charity, which helps disadvantaged children, young people, adults and their families in Romania. Building on the initial income opportunities and strategy development work done by fundraising consultants, you will be joining a marketing function with ambitious plans to transform their communications. You will work alongside colleagues across the whole organisation to deliver this work and will have the support of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the CEO and additional support from Nova Fundraising who have already been working with the charity on a consultancy basis.
The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for:
- Creating systems, structures, activities and messages designed to launch and grow individual giving with an ambition to take the charity’s fundraising income to six figures over three years.
- Using data to inform Individual Giving campaigns, creating powerful messaging to acquire, retain and upgrade donors through digital and offline methods.
- Brief and oversee the work of external agencies, as required, to support the recruitment and engagement of new supporters.
- Oversee and implement stewardship plans and supporter journeys for financial donors, who work alongside those of other supporters to ensure optimum message integration and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
- Work with colleagues to generate and implement FARA’s email stewardship programme for individual givers.
- Plan, schedule and manage personalised communications with donors.
- Explore other fundraising areas, including events, community, legacy and major donors.
The Person
Are you entrepreneurial, innovative, personable, and collaborative, with experience developing and delivering fundraising programmes?
The role requires a candidate with a strong background in building relationships and identifying and developing new fundraising messages, campaigns and activities from scratch.
This is not a case of picking up a mature programme and running with it (although the organisation does have a small baseline of donors who have been giving for many years). The opportunity is all about creating, testing and learning – to diversify income sources at FARA, utilising the extensive network of supporters it has gained through its 40 charity shops across London.
You will need to be proficient in digital platforms, with experience in building a digital-focused approach to supporter acquisition and donor development. You will play a crucial role in nurturing relationships with individual supporters to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in Romania.
The post-holder will have previous experience in fundraising, ideally experience specifically within IG, however this is not essential and we will consider candidates looking to transition into a new area of fundraising. You will need experience of developing creative fundraising programmes and be excited by the prospect of pursuing new opportunities for the organisation by engaging with existing supporters—many of whom might only have ‘gifted’ the charity via donations of pre-loved clothes and other items to FARA shops.

This role will play a key role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to develop and advocate for the policy changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK. It will focus on developing Trussell policy positions in either employment support (especially for people with barriers to work) or disability and sickness benefits. The role will also lead the development and implementation of influencing plans in that policy area.
Role responsibilities
·Lead the development of policy solutions and positions
Leading the development of credible policy positions and implementable recommendations in the specified policy area - either in relation to employment support and conditionality, particularly for groups facing significant barriers to work including disabled people and single parents; or in relation to the disability benefit system, particularly Personal Independence Payments and the Work Capability Assessment.
Working with the Policy and Public Affairs, Network Operations and Participation teams to ensure our policy influencing has a robust evidence base.
Where appropriate, developing policy in collaboration with food banks in Trussell’s network and lived experience partners. Building on success of existing participatory work to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty. This includes ensuring an ethical approach to policy development in line with our values.
Working effectively with other expert partners to strengthen policy development and build alliances to support influencing, including project management and oversight of joint policy development and positions.
·Planning and delivering impactful policy activity
Leading the development of an influencing strategy for the policy area aligned to a theory of change. Ensuring policy outputs are timely, high-quality and support engagement with key audiences, including national and local governments across the UK. Co-ordinating responses to reactive work in areas, including policy consultations, activity in Parliament, in the media or in response to network requests.
·Developing policy narratives and key messages
Co-ordinating the development of the narrative and key messaging in the areas, maintaining a key message bank, with tailored lines for target audiences as needed.
·Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy positions to external stakeholders
Working proactively with Research, Public Engagement and Network Operations teams to identify opportunities to promote the organisation’s policy positions and recommendations to key audiences. This could include presenting at policy and campaign events, workshops with food banks and media interviews.

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Young Carers and Young Adult Carers Team Leader
Job aim: Our carers, aged between 5 and 25, provide support to a parent, sibling or other family member due to disability, a long-term illness, poor mental health and/or addiction. You will lead and provide day to day operational management to the Young Carers (YC) and Young Adult Carers (YAC) team so that they can effectively provide support to these young people, whilst also raising awareness of Carers Bucks services across Buckinghamshire.
Location: Hybrid. A minimum of 2 days a week from home with the other days working flexibly from home or in the community, as agreed by your line manager, with attendance at our Aylesbury office as and when required.

Main Responsibilities:
These include, but are not limited to:
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and attend regular training and refesher courses.
- Day to day management of the YC/YAC team- establishing and maintaining a positive and effective working environment and dealing promptly with any interpersonal issues
- Day to day operational responsibility for the effective running of the YC/YAC services.
- Ensure that all new referrals, and all queries from current registered YC/YAC, are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, and to the highest possible standard.

Smart Works is a dynamic, high profile and fast-growing UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for success at their job interview. We empower each woman by giving her the clothes and the confidence she needs to succeed. After visiting Smart Works, 63% of clients secure a job within a month, gaining financial independence and transforming their lives.
The Smart Works service is currently delivered in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds, with new centres in Bristol and Liverpool due to open in 2025. Over the past ten years, Smart Works has helped over 35,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre.
Our clients are mostly long-term unemployed and have experienced repeated rejections from multiple jobs: 40% have been unemployed for over a year, 20% have applied to over 20 jobs and 23% have applied to over 50 jobs. ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a thoughtful and dedicated leader to oversee the delivery of the Smart Works service across the UK, ensuring that the charity remains on track to achieve our current growth ambitions, and to also play a key role in leading delivery of the service as we move into our next strategic plan.
The Head of Programmes will drive innovation, build impactful partnerships with referral organisations and enable excellent decision making across all centres. The Head of Programmes will be the guardian of the Smart Works service as the charity grows, ensuring decision-making across the charity is always client-centric and every client has the best possible chance of job success.
The Head of Programmes will oversee the opening of new Smart Works centres. Project managing the opening of new centres will require exceptional people management and an ability to balance important small details, with an awareness of the bigger picture and wider strategy.
The Head of Programmes will also be responsible for leading org-wide projects focused on quality, that will allow Smart Works to ensure our offer continues to improve, so that more of our clients can move into employment.
This is an important leadership role within the charity, with the Head of Programmes regularly sharing insights and ideas with senior decision makers. They will provide valuable insight into the Smart Works service and trends within the wider employability support landscape.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Programmes & Operations, the successful candidate will lead on a range of activities, including:
- Ensure a high quality, consistent service is delivered across the UK (both in-person and virtually).
- Drive innovation and support pilot projects that will enable the charity to evolve, improve and help more unemployed women secure work.
- Identify opportunities for digitisation of the service, to streamline our processes and allow us to grow our impact.

About the role
This is an awesome role focussed on improving our ways of working and processes when it comes to those who support us. We want all of our supporters to have a first class experience when they decide to donate their time and/or money to supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. However we know that as an organisation we have more to do to make this happen and the time is now.
Working in Income Generation, this role will take a recently conducted diagnostic carried out by a business improvement consultant and not only work through the next steps but make change happen, prioritising the areas with the biggest wins. This role really will have a lasting legacy in the organisation.
We're not just looking for someone to map change, this person will lead operational design and process re-engineering that transforms the Income Generation directorate and it's workforce into high achievers.
You’ll be based within the Project Management Office (PMO), a supportive team of professionals that lead transformational change across the organisation as well as corporate planning. You’ll also have close relationship with the Head of Planning and Strategy in Income Generation as well as the Associate Director Supporter Engagement.

What will I be doing?
No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.
- Building on the diagnostics carried out already within Income Generation directorate to optimise organisational design and scope improvements.
- Using the diagnostics to identify pain areas, develop a sequenced plan to tackle these issues and then implement the plan to improve performance, processes and services i.e. “getting hands dirty”.
- Embedding a culture of improvement in the organisation and developing these capabilities within the workforce.
- All of these activities will involve facilitating workshops, engaging audiences with tailored communications, debating and negotiating ideas with leaders, managing governance, risks and dependencies, evaluating progress etc.
