The TSA is seeking a highly experienced, confident and capable Head of Fundraising to provide leadership and direction on all aspects of income generation. The charity has gone from strength to strength over the last 24 months, including income generation, and we are looking for an experienced fundraising professional to continue this amazing work.  

Working closely with the TSA’s Joint Chief Executives, you’ll join the Senior Management Team and will be expected to successfully implement our new three-year fundraising strategy, which aims to diversify and raise income in a sensible yet ambitious way. 

You’ll have a genuine passion about making a difference and working with a range of different people to increase income across multiple streams. The chosen candidate will have experience of developing multiple income streams, building and maintaining meaningful relationships with existing and new supporters and demonstrable exceptional communication skills.

Head of Fundraising responsibilities 

Strategic, leadership and management 

• Provide leadership for fundraising and income generation across the TSA team. Attend regular strategy meetings and be a leading voice in shaping the TSA’s income generation activities 

• Lead in the development, implementation and review of fundraising polices and strategy ensuring they are in line with the overall organisation business plan 

• Provide line management for the Fundraising Manager and Grants and Trusts Manager, including regular meetings and ensuring that the fundraising team are fulfilling all areas of their roles, meeting agreed KPI’s and achieving set income targets 

• Lead on the annual business planning and budget cycle for the income generation 

• Effectively collect and analyse data to demonstrate income trends, the impact of fundraising and income generation. Use this data to inform quarterly reports to the Board of Trustees, determine the impact of the team’s work and drive continual improvements in policy and practice 

• Attend and actively contribute to weekly TSA team meetings 

Income Generation and partnership 

• Lead on all income generation activities, with a focus on developing new fundraising initiatives for corporate giving, major donor fundraising, legacy giving and TSA appeals 

• Develop and deliver short and long-term fundraising and partnership strategy for the TSA. Ensure that the TSA has a balanced portfolio, and the fundraising team successfully delivers income across multiple streams

• Working closely with the Joint Chief Executives and Grants and Trusts Manager, expand the TSA’s range of research funding sources to include public, academic, commercial and innovation funding alongside investment from the TSA itself 

• Accurately forecast and monitor against income generation targets 

• Identify opportunities to work with partners on areas of common interest where the TSA can achieve more through joint funding, gifts in kind (such as time or services) or delivering joint projects than the charity could do by working alone 

• Ensure the TSA’s fundraising policies, procedures are up to date and that all fundraising activities comply with law and the Fundraising Regulator guidelines 

• Continue to maintain established, and develop new relationships with potential fundraising supporters and partners across all sectors 

Marketing and communications responsibilities 

• Work closely with the communications team to develop inspiring fundraising campaigns, appeals, cases for support and content for distribution across all digital platforms,including social media, e-newsletters and Scan magazine, website and fundraising platforms 

• Continue to strengthen our supporter engagement plans to identify and build excellent working relationships that leads to increase income 

General responsibilities 

• Adhere to all TSA policies, procedures, values and behaviours 

• Comply with all internal and external Health and Safety requirements and complete Risk Assessments as appropriate 

• Work as part of a small fundraising team, you will enjoy taking on new challenges and happy to work flexibly as the TSA continues to develop and grow 

• Represent the charity at a small number of TSA events as required 

Other requirements of the post 

The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation. This may entail occasional evening and weekend work. Occasional travel within the UK may be required for team meetings and events.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial management

● Lead the setting, tracking and reporting of budgets and fundraising targets

● Maintain accurate records of income and expenditure on a cash and accrual basis

● Manage bookkeeping for the charity, including invoicing and bank reconciliations

● Keep accurate records of funding allocations, especially restricted and unrestricted income

● Work with our accountant to produce end-of-year accounts and prepare for audit

● Build strong relationships within The Economist Group finance team to support with financial management and compliance

● Ensure the charity remains tax compliant, including managing quarterly VAT returns and reviewing funding contracts

Operations, people and governance

● Build and maintain operational processes across the organisation which support the successful delivery of our work globally

● Support the team to accurately monitor and evaluate their progress towards targets

● Work with senior leadership and hiring managers to continually improve the recruitment and onboarding process

● Line manage the Programme Officer and support them to deliver programme and admin support

● Work with our company secretary to prepare annual accounts

Data management

● Manage GDPR-compliant data collection and storage, with accurate and up-to-date data to report on key targets

● Manage the presentation of data so that it is clear and accessible

● Build strong relationships across departments in The Economist Group to support with data management and legal contracts

As we continue our transformative journey, we are excited to appoint our first Head of People & Culture to join the Tudor Trust. You will work closely with the CEO and lead the People & Culture sub- committee to define and lead the implementation of our P&C strategy and embed our culture across the organisation.

The development of a culture in which JEDIB is integral and all our people feel well supported and valued is deeply embedded in our organisational strategic aims.  You will be part of the senior leadership team (SLT), making an active contribution to the strategic direction, building a culture of collaboration and strong leadership within the SLT and across the wider team.  You will be pro-active in your delivery; model our behaviours and ensure racial and social justice are at the centre of everything we do. 

About the role 

The Head of People and Culture at Tudor Trust is a transformative leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a holistic People and Culture strategy. This role will drive a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and inclusion while embedding Tudor’s behaviours into every aspect of the organisation. Central to the role is the promotion of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) principles, ensuring Tudor remains an inclusive, high-performing environment where people feel valued and empowered. 

As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of People and Culture will contribute to shaping the wider organisational strategy, leading initiatives that promote team well-being, support individual growth, and foster a high-performance culture that is aligned with Tudor Trust's behaviours of collaboration, integrity, bravery, creativity, inquisitiveness, humility, and compassion. 

You will work closely and in collaboration with the Head of Finance and Head of Programmes (yet to be appointed) with a shared responsibility for delivering projects.

QuarterFive are delighted to be partnering with The Orpheus Centre, which supports young disabled adults to live and work as independently as they are able. They do this through developing their confidence and independent living skills, using arts-based, bespoke learning, work experience and supported living programmes delivered from their base in Surrey. All of their learners are learning disabled and some are also physically disabled.

The Orpheus Centre is located at a beautiful converted farm that provides teaching and performance spaces and self-contained accommodation. However, their success in enabling these young people to thrive means that they are over subscribed every year and have outgrown the current facilities.

The capital appeal will convert a building next to the Centre to allow for more learners to enrol, in particular more learners with more complex needs. Currently, the quiet phase is projected for 2024-2027, with the build phase being projected for 2027-2029.

The Head of Capital Appeal will sit on the SMT, reporting to the CEO, and be responsible for leading a small team of fundraisers also dedicated to raising funds for the build. While there will be a team to support, the Head of Capital Appeal will spend most of their time personally fundraising as well. There are existing opportunities, including a well-connected President (also the Founder), a Capital Appeal Committee which will be set up, and an existing pool of donors. A focus on new business, however, will also be crucial for the success of the project.

As Head of Capital Appeal, you will: 

• Develop, implement and monitor the private and public phases of the capital appeal strategy to enable the Orpheus Centre to meet the appeal target
• Establish a high performing capital appeal committee of volunteers to cultivate and steward potential significant donors
• Deliver target income from a range of sources, primarily major donors, trusts and foundations and statutory sources, but not discounting other viable income streams
• Personally secure significant major gifts for the capital project
• Design, recruit and lead a team of fundraisers to support on fundraising for the capital project
• Research and identify potential funders for the capital project
• Work closely with the build project team, to ensure clear communication between the funding and the building of the project
• Provide timely reports for Senior Management Team and Trustees to facilitate effective cash flow management and decision making

Ideal skills and experience:

• Significant experience in a senior high value fundraising role
• Demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure major gifts
• Extensive track record in working with trusts, major donors and statutory funders
• Experience of line managing teams of fundraisers
• Ability to adapt to different audiences, including donors, senior volunteers, team members, learners and all colleagues in the wider organisation
• Experience in managing senior level volunteers and fundraising committees
• Understanding of disability language and issues
• Ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the arts

Overview

To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.

The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.

Global Dialogue’s role as an international fiscal host means that we have a complex financial model, receive income from diverse streams and manage a high number of restricted funds. Our programmes lead cutting edge work, which means that our work is varied and fastpaced, requiring frequent innovation. The Football Foundation are partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell in their search for a permanent Head of Finance. The Football Foundation are the Premier League, The FA and the Governments charity that helps communities improve their local football facilities through football grants.

The Head of Finance will lead the finance team, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support our charitable objectives. With responsibility for a team of five you will lead and provide statutory, financial and management accounting, including all financial planning and analysis, for the Football Foundation (Foundation) and the Premier League Stadium Fund.

The role:

• Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organisation’s visions e.g. treasury management, developing long term cashflow strategies to maximise returns to the organisation.
• Lead and work with the SMT, Management Group, PMO Lead, and Data & Insight team to create and maintain financial and cost models to support the development and finalisation of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts, focusing on the relationship between services, resources, and productivity.
• Work with the CFO in preparing and presenting the consolidated budget and plan to the SMT and ARG Committee.
• Develop high level models to support strategic and operational decision making, e.g. assessment of financial sustainability of grant applications and monthly reporting to funders in line with contractual obligations.
• Continue the development and transitioning of the finance team from a mainly transactional team to a team providing forwarding looking information. Enhance collaborative decision making through improved business partnering and transparent reporting.
• Ensure all legal entities comply with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, Charity Commission, and other statutory financial returns as appropriate. 
• Lead and manage the finance team, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.

Essential criteria:

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.
• Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the entire finance function, including hands on experience in delivering business partnering.
• Knowledge of the legislative, tax and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
• Leading an end-to-end external audit process.
• Developing/improving and implementing financial procedures and controls. 
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interpret complex issues at Board level, and to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organisation including experience of working with non-executives.
• Can demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude to delivering organisational change and improvement.
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop team members.

The position will be based at The Football Foundation’s head office at Wembley Stadium and requires on average 2 visits per week to the office, dependent on business need. The closing date for applications is 29^th October with first stage interviews taking place on the 7^th November.
