At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are support around 300 families both in our hospice and in their homes.
Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family, including end of life care, symptom management, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, Phsyiotherapy and much much more. We work with staffing ratios that allow us to deliver a high quality, holistic model of care which is tailored for each child and family.
As a registered charity we receive around 16 % of our funding from government sources and our fundraisers and supporters raise the remaining funds needed to keep our services running. All roles within our organisation are valued and we recognise the importance of a whole team approach and recognise great things happen when we work together.
The role:
We are seeking to recruit a Team Lead for the in house care team. Your role will involve working in a co ordinated way with other Team Leads to oversee the day to day running of the care floor. This will include overseeing the off duty rota, management and planning of both planned and unplanned admissions, overseeing the delivery on symptom management and EOL care, taking responsibility for areas of governance and audit and line managing a small team of nurses and support workers, in addition to looking at ongoing opportunities for service development. Working in the Team Leader role, you will lead with enthusiasm to support a resilient and motivated team, delivering a high standard of holistic care.
From 1st April 2022 all direct care provision and/or close contact roles at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice require full COVID vaccination as a Condition of Deployment. The role of Nurse falls into this category.

Salary: Band B, £24k to £30k, depending on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
· Identify and maximise opportunities to raise funds from companies, trusts, foundations, and other funding bodies.
· Manage a portfolio of existing and prospective partners from across companies, trusts and foundations.
· Research and maintain an on-going, sustainable pipeline of prospects including new trusts and foundations, companies and industry sectors.
· Plan, prepare and write compelling applications for funding.

The Finance Officer is responsible for working within the core Wheels for All team to provide finance team support to the wider programme delivery and national staff team. By working with colleagues to maintain financial systems, accurate record keeping and undertake financial administration they will provide the support required to implement and improve the processes needed to maintain the accurate financial management systems which are crucial to supporting the charity’s mission.
This role would suit someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a charity finance role, who has experience or knowledge of all the core accounts department processes and some understanding of different charity income streams. You might be studying for an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or ACCA) or be qualified by experience. A training package may be available for an applicable accounting qualification.

Salary: £26,000- £32,000 FTE, dependent on experience

Role responsibilities
Financial Administration
• Maintain efficient and accurate computerised financial accounts & bookkeeping records (the organisation currently uses SAGE) including the upkeep of the records management with regular reconciliation activity according to standard processes.
• Receive and process invoices for payments to/ from suppliers.
• Record income from users, supporters, donors, members etc and maintain up to date records of income received.
• Analysing our donations ensuring accurate income allocation and consider any Gift Aid submissions.
• Liaising with and responding to enquiries from colleagues, suppliers, and partners.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly reporting, quarterly management accounts, any Gift Aid claims and annual audit.
• Process employee expenditure claims & assisting with the preparation of payroll.
• Supporting the preparation for the annual audit, e.g. fixed asset records and maintain the fixed asset register
• Supporting colleagues on finance procedures and protocols and advising colleagues on finance queries.
• Liaising with staff and volunteers to process expense claims accurately and timely.
• To support the Finance Manager in reporting back on budget-to-budget holders
• Support departments in providing detailed financial analysis work which aids their work.
Outcomes: The charity has accurate high quality financial management records which support the efficiency of operations.
Programme Support
• Administer, track, and record petty cash and staff expenses.
• Support budget monitoring & reconciling of programme expenditures. Answering queries, seeking appropriate clarifications & making inquiries of coded expenditures, and providing up to date information to the wider staff team.
• Assist the Finance Manager in creating financial reports to enable tracking and monitoring of spend, regular budget monitoring and in reporting to funders.
Outcomes: The staff team have the financial information and support centrally to run effective projects with partners and volunteers, and to report to trustees and external funders.
Compliance
• Ensuring your work is carried out with excellent attention to detail to the required quality standards and adhering to internal financial management procedures.
• Provide documentation to facilitate programme operations, including grant documents and funder reports.
• Support the Finance Manager in ensuring the charity is compliant with contractual and legal obligations.
Outcomes: The charity is fully complaint with company and charity legislation;
and best practice regarding financial management.
Accountability and relationships
The Finance Officer will be accountable to the Finance Manager and will be a key member of a small finance team (up to 3 people). They will work closely with a core office team and other members in the national Wheels for All network. They will also have a working relationship with suppliers, partners, and volunteers. They will be expected to attend regular staff meetings and supervision sessions.

Skills/knowledge
• Proven experience in all areas of accounts - purchase and sales ledger, banking and cash management, basic management accounts.
• Excellent numeracy skills.
• Understanding of bank reconciliations, control accounts and other day to day financial management procedures.
• Good knowledge of customer relations management and database software, (for example Salesforce).
• Knowledge of financial management systems/software, ideally Sage.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly excel and an ability to quickly learn new systems.

The Community Experience (CX) team ensures that The Charity’s wonderful community receives excellent customer service. As part of this important team, you will contribute to providing an exemplary core operations function, guaranteeing a high quality experience for our donors and supporters through their journey with the Charity. You will work on maintaining essential data streams between external sources and our database, as well as the relationships with both supporters and suppliers that underpin them.
Everything the team does is about ensuring CX excellence, from handling first communications and processing income, through to ensuring that an appropriate ‘thank you’ is received. Working closely with the Fundraising, Finance and IT teams, you will be responsible for ensuring data is imported and reconciled accurately on our database in the most efficient and effective way possible.
Who we’re looking for:

The Community Fundraising and Communications Coordinator will
- Lead on LASSN's Community Fundraising – responsible for developing and delivering a community fundraising strategy that maximises the amount of funds generated by volunteers and supporters, local community groups and individuals.
- Lead on the implementation (and review) of LASSN's communications strategy - ensuring that LASSN's staff, volunteers and experts by lived experience, are central to the production and promotion of LASSN's key messages; the work and impact of LASSN are shared effectively with key audiences; communications support and enhance LASSN's fundraising efforts.
The person we appoint will
- Share LASSN's commitment to ensuring asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants at risk of harm are safe, respected, supported and empowered to rebuild their lives free of persecution;
- Have a successful track record of identifying and supporting individuals, groups and institutions to raise funds for values-led organisations or charities like LASSN.
- Be an excellent communicator, in person, online, and in print, and be committed to building the confidence and capabilities of everyone at LASSN.
- Understand the strengths and potential of different communication platforms (e.g., print, social media, film) and be able to use these to convey the values and impact of LASSN's work.
- Enjoy working flexibly in a small, friendly team – and alongside 300 motivated and talented volunteers and supporters from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Be a confident self-starter, able to design, plan and deliver campaigns – and to enthuse and engage other people.
- Commit to helping ordinary people find ways to make Leeds a friendlier, more welcoming city.
Their can-do approach and ability to complete tasks to agreed deadlines will play a vital role in the smooth running of a team that values diversity, kindness, and high standards of support.

This post is funded by LASSN's unrestricted reserves and is offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. The future of this role will depend on the success of the post holder in securing funds to pay for their role beyond this fixed term and the value the role has added to LASSN's work.
