KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Support:

• Assist the Production Manager with mail specs, collating information, creating purchase orders, and related tasks.
• Support the Media Manager in arranging regional coverage for overseas staff in the UK.

• General administrative duties. 

Scheduling and Planning:

• Update and maintain the print and digital communications schedule with audience managers.

Content Creation:

• Create subtitles for digital content.
• Participate in creative idea sessions.

Updates and Research:

• Monitor staff blogs for potential stories and produce a weekly social media roundup.
• Monitor external websites for relevant stories and brief teams.
• Provide research support as needed.

Media Library Management:

• Upload and remove media assets, ensuring accurate metadata and compliance.
• Support staff with acquiring and transferring assets from overseas programs.
• Improve the media library.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Location: Hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, Folkestone, and one day at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Ashford. The remaining two days from home or you may work at the office.

Working Hours: Full-time role (36 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours occasionally outside normal business hours). Hours should be agreed with the line manager.

Annual Leave: 22 days per year plus 8 paid public holidays.

About the Team

Our Legal team is based around England and is made up of over 100 people, delivering housing advice and litigation services for our clients. Working closely with other teams in Shelter Services, we take referrals from them including certified litigation work, controlled work and Housing Possession Court Duty Schemes.  

Shelter Merseyside has been providing housing advice and support services to local people for over 20 years, helping those facing bad housing and homelessness. The Hub work in partnership with a range of organisations to improve the underlying systems that prevent people from living securely in suitable, safe, affordable accommodation. You will be working alongside the Housing Rights Workers, Management and Administration teams, Community Organising and Lived Experience Teams to bring about systemic change locally. 

About the Role

You will assist our solicitors to maintain an active caseload to enable homeless people, as well as those with housing and related problems, to enforce their rights. Your role will be varied and will include taking instructions and witness statements, drafting letters, making applications, providing court representation. You will also ensure time recording and income targets are met.

About you

You will need a sound understanding of litigation work and be able to carry out legal research, with the ability to provide a good standard of professional service and client care. What's more, you will have excellent communication skills - having taken the facts into account, you are able to communicate your thoughts clearly both in writing and face-to-face. Our Pro Bono division delivers projects free-of-charge to charities and not-for-profit organisations within the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, with the aim of making a real difference to causes that our staff care about. We own and manage specialist homes for older people. These homes are designed to help them maintain, and in some cases increase, their independence.

We also have a wide programme of services and activities to help them connect with their community and lead richer lives.

Our scheme in Acton consists of 52 flats, has a large communal area with kitchen and a large garden.  Our residents want to live independently with reassurance that there is help at hand should they need it!

As a Scheme Manager, you are personable, passionate and will flourish working with our older residents who may have complex needs or are vulnerable because of their health or physical disabilities.

A bit about the role:

As a Scheme Manager (part time), you will share responsibility for the day-to-day housing management and services provided at these schemes. 

You will share responsibility of managing the estate and monitor the services provided by others such as cleaners, contractors, or other stakeholders within Peabody.

• You will ensure the scheme meets all statutory requirements in terms of health and safety (including fire safety).

Main purpose of the post: 

• Working as part of a supportive and skilled team, you will be required to share in leading and further develop the GYM youth work service across Coventry and the surrounding area.

• You will spend a large proportion of your time working directly with young people in schools, colleges, youth clubs and outside areas as needed

• You will lead a range of different sporting and other activities and encourage and motivate young people to become involved in such.

• You will work closely with other colleagues across the GYM service, supporting identified needs and additional projects as required.

Key Responsibilities: 

• To work directly with children and young people, actively leading in a range of sporting and other activities while enabling effective personal and social development - The young people you work with will include those who are vulnerable, disengaged and hard to reach and those exhibiting challenging behaviour. 

• To lead with passion and enthusiasm, in different indoor and outdoor venues across the city.

• In discussion with GYM management to further develop this service, including additional sporting and other opportunities, trips and excursions, including residential as the service develops.

• To support the established GYM youth clubs in different locations and develop new as needed.

• To take part in the GYM outreach service, including driving the youth bus as needed.

• To take part in the StepTogether service.

• To promote, lead and support involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

• To visit and provide information to individuals, groups, schools, colleges, and other youth facilities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and delivering training when required. 

• To be committed to achieving service outcomes and to systematically gather dataregarding these outcomes as required

• To assist with administration duties, data collection, monitoring and evaluation and Professional Youth Mentor (Outreach) 

• To assist in fundraising initiatives.

• Any other duties as determined by GYM management from time to time. 

Due to the nature of the role, a full driving license is required. You will be required to travel across Coventry and beyond and may need to visit locations not easily accessible by public transport. You will also be required to drive and manage the youth bus as needed (non HGV)

Duties will include reviewing and improving the Legal Team’s processes and ways of working, creating and maintaining legal policies and ensuring processes and guidance are fit for purpose. You will also be tasked with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of contracts and providing in-house training to colleagues across the wider organisation.
 
To be considered for this role you will be a qualified solicitor with some post qualification experience or be a paralegal/legal assistant with experience in a comparable role. You will have expertise in contracts law in one or more of the following areas: intellectual property, data protection, publishing, technology and ideally have worked within the charity/not-for-profit sector. Finally, the right candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills and a keen attention to detail.
 
Please note, this is a part-time role, 30 hours per week (can be spread over 4 or 5 days). This role is fully remote, with occasional travel to their London based office.
