About The Hygiene Bank

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving us caught between being able to heat our homes, pay the rent, eat, or be clean.  It is washing hair, bodies, faces and clothes in the same cheap washing-up liquid used for the dishes. It is not being able to replace a toothbrush when needed or sharing a toothbrush because one each just isn't an option. It is having to choose between shaving foam and razors or the transport fare to a job interview.

Hygiene Poverty is the hidden crisis facing the UK. Earlier this year, The Hygiene Bank published a research report into the incidence and impact of hygiene poverty. It found that over 4.2m adults in the UK are affected by hygiene poverty, that is an additional 1.1m people into hygiene poverty since 2022 - the equivalent of the population of Birmingham. 

With hygiene poverty on the rise, it is also undermining the nation’s health: 50% of those affected by hygiene poverty say that it is causing them anxiety or depression. 92% of people affected report that it limits their social interactions with friends and family. 54% of those affected have not gone to the dentist in the last 12 months. But most importantly, it’s putting people in impossible situations. A staggering 69% of adults experiencing hygiene poverty are having to make the difficult decision between paying for essential needs like food and bills or purchasing basic toiletries. 65% of parents affected by hygiene poverty have had to choose between buying hygiene products for themselves or their children.

About the role

This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary Communications Team working together to raise awareness of the work of The Hygiene Bank. The successful candidate will develop and deliver effective marketing and communications content, with a special focus on digital channels, to promote The Hygiene Bank’s work, partnerships, and year-round fundraising activity – including National Hygiene Week and brand collaborations – and demonstrate the positive impact donations have had on communities across the UK. The postholder will work together with the Senior Volunteer Experience, Communications and Fundraising Manager and the Head of Fundraising, Communications and External Engagement to implement the Communications Strategy using a range of marketing and communications activities to actively engage a variety of audiences to raise awareness of hygiene poverty in the UK.

Responsibilities include: creating content for social media, our monthly newsletter and our website; creating engaging and compelling promotional materials; using high-quality storytelling to produce blogs, liaising with our volunteers to identify good stories and producing case studies and news articles for the website and supporting the wider team as required.

· Create compelling and engaging content for The Hygiene Bank’s social media channels, website and newsletters for our different audiences.

· Coordinate and monitor The Hygiene Bank’s social media presence ensuring the different audiences are informed and engaged.

· Develop creative concepts to engage and activate our ambassadors and influencers in support of the organisation.

Experience

Key Details

· Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 p.a depending on experience (pro rata, part-time, 4 days per week) dependent on skills and experience.

This role is to deliver a co designed menu of support, in collaboration with The National Autistic Society, Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust, and Barnardo’s. The practitioner will provide impactful, school-based support to parents and carers of children and young people, and offer consultancy, professional training and advice to school staff, school-based needs teams and system wide partners. The Role

As a Practice Consultant, you will proactively support your Head and line manager, demonstrating leadership and a strong, supportive role in your team’s contribution to delivering the provision of high-quality support in strategic and operational environments. You will be skilled and confident about building high-trust relationships, contributing to securing a strong network across the UK and quality within our accreditation services.

You will take responsibility for motivating yourself and will build a wide skill set both personally and within the team, sharing expertise and encouraging everyone to work at their best together. Practice Consultants act as a critical friend to local areas and services, supporting, advising and guiding them through a combination of free and paid-for expert support. You will build relationships with national partners and local areas to develop coordinated, dynamic responses to domestic abuse and related safeguarding issues, seeing the whole picture for each family member to keep people safe sooner.

In order to complement our existing expertise in the Practice team, we would be particularly interested to hear from applicants with backgrounds in domestic abuse, criminal justice, health and social work.

The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager to join our Governance & Fellowship Office, providing key support in the delivery of the Academy’s overall EDI ambitions across all aspects of its work.

The Role

Working closely with the Academy’s senior management and workstream leads within other teams, you will oversee the delivery of the Academy’s ambitious EDI activity and strategy. With experience of supporting and delivering EDI initiatives in similar contexts (HE, research funding, fellowship bodies or the charity sector), you will be responsible for both overseeing current and ongoing EDI activity, as well as initiating new areas of work as needed.

You will need excellent communication skills, to be able to liaise and report internally across all levels but also to provide high-quality external communications and act as an ambassador for the Academy and its work.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of the statutory and best-practice contexts of EDI matters and be able to bring these to inform the Academy’s activity, acting as both internal adviser across Teams and the Fellowship and an ally for staff, researchers and the audiences we serve. You will have an understanding of the specific EDI challenges within the UK HE funding and research sector, and work closely with internal and external partners to develop responses and new initiatives. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver new EDI initiatives, but also to influence our governance and accountability processes to ensure EDI outcomes are measurable and effective. You will play a key role in implementing the Academy’s cross-cutting EDI strategy, and ensuring this is evidence-based and supports our role as a key player in the UK HE and Research landscape.

This post sits within the Governance and Fellowship Office and reports directly to the Head of Fellowship Engagement & Governance. This Team supports the Chief Executive and the President of the British Academy, as well as its executive and strategic committees (Council and Senior Management Team). The Office also provides core Fellowship support, including their biannual meetings, nomination and election processes and a number of Fellowship engagement activities. This means that not only will your EDI activity be embedded across the main governance functions of the Academy, but you will also have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and decision makers across all of our work.

This role provides support to LGBTQ+ people who have experienced domestic abuse and are living in safe accommodation in the community. The goal is to help people prepare for independent living in their own tenancies. The Resettlement Worker will meet with each resident to assess their needs and agree goals which will help them achieve independence. The Resettlement Worker then puts together a support plan and meets regularly with service users to provide support, challenge and encouragement as they make their journey.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide a high quality, flexible and responsive support service to LGBTQ+ people who have experienced domestic abuse, supporting them towards independent living or suitable alternative housing through the provision of 1-1 support sessions and group work.

• To assess the individual needs of each person and provide a bespoke support plan.

• To ensure that effective service user participation mechanisms are in place.

• To ensure a high level of customer care and practice at all times.

• To develop links with relevant external agencies.

Main Duties of the Post

Support Sessions

• To give holistic support to LGBTQ+ people accessing our domestic abuse resettlement service and to provide proactive support to these service users who are sometimes hard to engage.

• To meet face to face with service users regularly to provide structured support, in relation to LGBTQ+ and Housing specific issues, such as gender identity pathways, mental health services, health issues, safeguarding, liaising with the professional network.

• To work with LGBTQ+ people to develop and review individual support plans and risk assessments.

• To liaise with other service providers ensuring service users receive the necessary support to sustain their accommodation, acquire relevant independent living skills, maintain or improve positive physical and mental health and access into meaningful occupation of their time.

Financial Support

• To assist service users in maximising and managing their income including universal credit, ESA, PIP and Housing Benefit.

Semi-independent Living Support

• To work with service users to enable them to develop the life and social skills necessary to sustain their accommodation and prepare them for independent living.

• To assess individual service user’s suitability for independent accommodation.

• To act quickly to manage incidents and to advise, support and assist service users unable to maintain supported accommodation into more appropriate housing options.

Resettlement

• To support service users in the completion of application forms necessary to support move-on housing, including the private rented sector.

• To ensure that all service users are provided with information about local services whilst in safe accommodation and during their move on.

• To ensure all service users are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities in their home.

• To work with housing providers, both public and private, to negotiate move on options.

Groupwork, Consultation and Participation

• To work as part of a team in developing user participation.

• To identify and develop appropriate and flexible processes for consulting with our service users, via social media platforms, newsletters, events and workshops.

• To devise innovative and creative ways of involving LGBTQ+ people in the running of the service with an independent approach.

• Supporting our service users to participate in group and peer support and to access online support mechanisms.

• Facilitating and promoting an LGBTQ+ group work programme.

The Job

The welfare of our dogs is very important to us. We have a no-kennel policy, and all our dogs live in the homes of volunteer puppy Socialisers until they are about 18 months old.  We are committed to providing quality training and support for all our dogs and the volunteers who look after them.

This role requires someone with the skills, experience, and passion to take responsibility for organising and monitoring the Assistance dog training team. The successful candidate will ensure that the team of Assistance Dog Trainers develop our puppies and young dogs to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Alert Assistance Dog. They will also play a role in the training and development of less experienced members of the team.

Reports to: Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare

Specific Responsibilities

• To oversee the day-to-day activities of the Assistance Dog Trainers, carrying out 121’s, annual reviews, etc.
• To oversee the preparation of and to deliver in accordance with the dog pick-up schedule for the MAAD programme
• To support puppies or young dogs when required
• To carry out the 6-month, 12-month, and final assessments of dogs
• Assist with the training and development of Trainee Assistance Dog Trainers and less experienced Trainers which may include acting as a mentor
• To liaise with the Health and Welfare Coordinator on any health issues regarding puppies and dogs within the Assistance Dog Training Scheme
• Support the Assistance Dog Trainers with potential matches for a particular client or clients and dog, and to report this progress regularly in Dog and Client matching meetings
• Highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare in a timely manner, if you feel a dog is not reaching the appropriate standard or may be more suitable for another role. Detailed evidenced reasons why, must be supplied
• If and when required, to stay away from home, supporting Assistance Dog Trainers with their puppies and volunteers who are based in our regional areas

The Regional Business Development Manager is a central part of the Southern Africa Regional team and will play a key role in helping to expand WaterAid's funding portfolio as well as building regional intelligence, positioning WaterAid's work in our key thematic areas (such as health and climate), and proposal development. The role will partner with country teams in the region, fundraising specialists, and technical experts across WaterAid as well as externally with donors and partners to develop a multi-year pipeline of opportunities and implementing a strategy for business development. The postholder will be a strategic thinker, who is able to challenge and mentor country funding teams to appraise opportunities critically and to produce consistent, compelling proposals and funding strategies; and to deliver on targets. This will focus on ensuring WaterAid is well positioned within key donor and consortium partner networks in the region as a "go to" partner for long term sustainable WASH programming.

Key accountabilities among others include:

Strategy

• Support country programmes in developing fundraising, donor and consortium partner strategies from a deep understanding of how to position WA's programmes within the current donor marketplace.
• Contribute to overall new business strategy in collaboration with country teams, Senior Program Development Manager and Regional Director, assessing regional performance against Key Performance Indicators and annual revenue targets.

Pipeline development and management:

• Be responsible for growing and monitoring the pipeline of relevant funding opportunities to WA country programmes, coordinating with fundraising members to communicating donor intelligence, ensuring a balanced portfolio of funding types and ambition.
• Provide strategic support to the sign on of larger funding opportunities, ensuring that WA country teams are supported to negotiate favourable positions within consortia and are able to effectively assess and mitigate for delivery risk.

Funding skills and capabilities development:

• Monitor the fundraising skills, capabilities and investment levels within country teams, and support the development of both funding focused roles and the capability of country SMTs to engage with donors and develop funding propositions
• Play a leading role in co-creating and embedding business processes, systems, and policies for restricted funding
• Build confidence in pursuing different funding modalities, including commercial contracts through accompanying country teams in the development of complex and novel bidding approaches (with the support of global teams and consultants)

Leadership and Line management

• Responsible for working with a high-performing team of country Heads of Funding and Donor Relationship Leads across the globe. The RBDM will contribute to strategic and operational planning processes; define and deliver an agreed set of team performance targets; and providing guidance, coaching and support in helping peers achieve optimum performance.

To be successful, you will need the following:

• Master's Degree level qualification in international development, economics or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Approximately 10 years of experience in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors such as USAID, EC, UK Government, International Financial Institutions such as the WB, AfDB, local and international corporates, trust and foundations such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation etc.

Applicants will also be required to be experienced in the following duties:

· Bookkeeping 

· Producing monthly and quarterly management reports 

· Producing annual statutory accounts 

· Liaising with auditors 

· Submitting annual returns to the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC

The Artswork Professional Development team contributes significantly to Artswork’s income generation and successful reputation. We provide in person, online and asynchronous training for organisations and individuals working within the creative industries and beyond. Recent clients have included Southbank, Shakespeare’s Globe and Bristol Beacon. We are now seeking a Customer Relations & Finance Lead to join our learning team which works on one of the three key strands of the organisation.

You will need to be highly organised, detail orientated with a background in financial administration and have experience of working within a customer focussed environment.
