Who we are.
Community Transport has been working in local communities since 1964, helping to transform lives and build better communities.
Today, Community Transport operates from three sites across the Northeast, operating a fleet of over 20 vehicles, employing just over 40 staff and works with more than 20 volunteers and placements to deliver services in two strands – accessible passenger services and provision of affordable furniture.
About the role.
As Chief Executive and Finance Officer (CEFO), you will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and governance for the entire organisation. Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, this combined role will ensure high leadership in charity compliance, meet the needs of the services across transportation and retail, and be accountable for all financial aspects across the organisation.
The CEFO will be responsible for auditing, reviewing monthly management accounts, planning the business annually, budget setting, financial analysis, trajectory tracking, strategy development, and delivering the strategy and key objectives agreed upon with the Chair of Trustees annually.
Focusing on Community Transport's mission, vision, and values, you will empower and motivate a skilled and high-performing staff and senior management team and foster external partnerships to enhance services. The CEFO will also manage organisational assets, implement marketing strategies, and cultivate a positive workplace culture for staff and volunteers.

You will be ambitious and keen to use your strategic vision to translate passion into measurable impact and ultimately ensure the charity succeeds in the future.
You will have demonstrable experience in developing strategies, target-orientated plans and policies and controls that have delivered long-term financial sustainability, value for money, commercial acumen, and clear ambition for an organisation.
You will also have strong financial acumen alongside a proven track record in change management and transformation, as well as experience in strategic charity management, governance, and business growth.
Critically, you will be able to take people and teams with you on the journey through a supportive and approachable leadership style.

Hereford Cathedral, located in the heart of the Diocese of Hereford, welcomes over 130,000 visitors a year who come as worshippers, tourists and pilgrims. About the role.
Working closely with the Dean, you will help shape the culture of a modern, forward-thinking cathedral. You’ll collaborate on cultural change, community engagement, and inter-departmental cooperation aligned with the cathedral’s mission. You’ll drive strategic goals, ensuring strong staff management and successful outcomes. Balancing the needs of worshippers with the cathedral’s roles as a visitor attraction, artistic venue, and historic site, you’ll guide strategic planning and operations.
A key focus will be securing financial health through commercial activities, fundraising, and property management, ensuring stability and growth. You’ll manage daily operations in line with priorities and budgets, streamlining structures and ensuring efficiency through risk management, compliance, and staff development.
As Chapter Clerk, you’ll ensure governance and regulatory compliance, support policy reviews, and manage health and safety, data protection, and committees. As Designated Safeguarding Lead, you’ll ensure best practices and uphold the highest standards of protection across the cathedral.
Who we are looking for.
You will share our passion for the cathedral's mission, vision, and values, and will actively support them. We are seeking a candidate with senior leadership experience in not-for-profit or faith-based environments, with a proven ability to unite diverse teams around a shared mission. Experience in managing multi-departmental organisations and overseeing income-generating portfolios, such as property, fundraising, retail, or events.
You should have experience working with boards of trustees and building relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong financial management and project management skills, including overseeing budgets and delivering major projects, are required. We are looking for a collaborative leader who can inspire and empower teams while fostering a supportive environment. Experience in health and safety, HR, and staff development is also important.

The role of income generation within The Kirkwood Movement is established. However, this role represents an opportunity to truly lead with creativity and forward thinking married closely with the traditional, proven tangible activities.
Job Summary:
As the Director of Income Generation and Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing innovative strategies to support The Kirkwood's charitable activities. Your leadership will inspire our community, increase awareness, and enhance financial and voluntary support.
The role requires strategic, long-term thinking, and you must demonstrate a proven track record of developing and implementing successful long-term income generation strategies aligned with overall fundraising goals. You should be a confident and natural leader who can clearly communicate a compelling future direction for the income generation and marketing team. Additionally, you will be a critical thinker who utilises data and trends to make informed decisions, analyses results to identify areas for improvement, and embraces a continuous learning mindset that values both successes and failures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive income generation strategy aligned with The Kirkwood's goals.
- Foster a culture of creativity to explore and implement unconventional income generation methods.
- Lead the strategy to build The Kirkwood Movement, enhancing awareness, care outreach, and inspiring support.
- Create and nurture connections within The Kirkwood Movement to deepen engagement.
- Collaborate across The Kirkwood Movement to integrate income generation opportunities into daily operations.
Executive:
- Partner with the Executive Team to devise and deliver strategies that ensure sustainable growth in care provision.
- Establish policy frameworks and operational methods that support strategic objectives.
- Uphold and promote The Kirkwood Culture and Values.
- Serve as the key advocate for donors, ensuring their interests are prioritised in all activities.
- Oversee internal and external communication strategies and represent The Kirkwood in media and public events.
- Maintain strong relationships with the Board of Trustees and lead interactions with the Income Generation & Marketing Committee.
- Support Executive Management Team members and contribute to committee activities as needed.
- Contribute to the development of the 5-year strategic plan and long-range financial forecast.
- Stay informed of best practices in the sector and integrate them into The Kirkwood.
- Manage relationships with statutory regulators to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Departmental:
- Support departmental leads in crafting and implementing strategies for Fundraising, Retail & Trading, Media & Marketing, Business Development, and Programme Development.
- Propose, monitor, and achieve ambitious annual budgets for income generation.
- Deliver an exceptional supporter experience that drives acquisition, retention, and maximises supporter lifetime value through stellar stewardship.
- Inspire and lead a motivated team, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability for income generation goals.
- Develop and deliver ambitious plans across the core spectrum of Income Generation activity that includes (but not limited to) legacy fundraising, individual giving, major donors and patronage, digital fundraising, retail footprint, corporate partnership development and community fundraising.
- Attract, recruit, and retain top talent within the income generation and marketing team, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a senior income generation or marketing role.
- Demonstrable success in developing and implementing innovative fundraising strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
