Volunteering & HR Coordinator 

Age UK Camden is looking to recruit a skilled and experienced Coordinator to support our Volunteering and HR functions. Our Volunteers are integral to how we deliver services in Camden.  We have a fantastic team who help us offer a variety of support in the local community ranging from Dementia Befriending, Counselling and Befriending/Telefriending to volunteering in our Day Centres and our Charity Boutique. 

Our skilled and experienced employees deliver a range of quality services for older people living in Camden and our HR function supports them to achieve the organisational objectives through safer recruitment, training and development and work around employee relations.  

Working to the Head of HR and Central Services the successful candidate will: 

• Be responsible for the co-ordination and effective management of volunteer services in the Age UK Camden Group (inc subsidiaries) including recruitment, placement, induction and ongoing support and training as well as record keeping/report producing via the database. 

• Support the HR Function of Age UK Camden (including subsidiaries currently Age UK City of London). Reporting to the Head of HR and Central Services   

Salary: SCP12-16 - £28,224 to £30,315.45 pa  

Hours: 35 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help deliver SSAFA volunteer support to the serving community.

You will work closely with the Serving Community Manager to develop SSAFA’s support to the serving community through its volunteer delivered Serving Community Teams and the Community Volunteering Service.

You will ensure a safe and quality service is delivered by volunteers, and support them from the recruitment and induction stage through to becoming a fully trained volunteer.  

You will monitor and review the service, providing feedback on progress and areas of concern as well as statistical data to the Serving Community Manager.

You will provide support and supervision to Community Volunteers and ensure robust recording and handling of beneficiary data in line with SSAFA’s policies and procedures.

You will be part of a small innovative team working together to plan and deliver SSAFA’s support to the serving community, rolling out services which will assist volunteers in helping beneficiaries. You will work with all departments across SSAFA and with external stakeholders to raise awareness of the needs and challenges of the serving community and how SSAFA can help.

About you

We are looking for a highly organised individual to deliver volunteering support to the serving community. You will have a good understanding of the unique issues that the serving Armed Forces community may experience, and knowledge and experience of the charitable sector.

You will have experience of managing volunteers, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish working relationships quickly.

As a proactive and motivated individual, you will have good project management skills in order to prioritise your time, and plan and deliver an exciting new services to the serving community.

Programme Manager, Sustainable Chemistry

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) have a fantastic opportunity for two Programme Managers to join our small new team focussed on green and sustainable chemistry. The positions are for a fixed-term period of three years.

You will be joining the RSC at an exciting time as we develop our next organisational strategy. You will help shape how we build on and connect across recent work in areas like Sustainable Labs, Digital Futures, Future Workforce & Educational Pathways, Chemicals Waste & Pollution and the 25th anniversary celebration of our journal Green Chemistry.

Managing budgets of up to £200k and over 100 participants depending on the event.

What you'll need to succeed in this role

The successful person will have experience of working in a fast-paced events fundraising team, and an interest in learning about event experiences, creative marketing campaigns and supporter journeys. Experience is essential for this role and we will not be considering candidates without challenge events experience.

You will have experience within the Charity sector and have worked within a similar role, delivering marketing campaigns, and managing multi-channel supporter journeys.

You will be confident managing budgets and meeting targets.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis with a requirement to attend our London office based in Kings Cross at least once a week, you might also need to attend events outside of your regular working hours.

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious fundraiser who is keen to develop their skill set across the fundraising mix and looking for an opportunity with strategic input. Making applications to trusts and foundations to secure grant funding will be the key focus of the role, so you will need to have a successful track record in either trusts and foundations or corporate fundraising with extensive experience of bid writing and stewardship. However, we are keen to develop other income streams over the next few years, particularly corporate partnerships and community fundraising so we are looking for someone who is interested in broadening their expertise.  

You will be stepping into a role with an established funding pipeline as we have secured a number of multi-year grants. 

You’ll work closely with IPSEA’s CEO and members of the wider management team to identify opportunities, develop relationships and compellingly communicate the need for, and impact of, the work we do.

The role is a full-time position (part-time also considered) that can be office-based, home-based or hybrid, with monthly visits to the IPSEA office in Takeley, Essex and/or London.

About the role

Alongside the Service Manager, you are responsible and accountable for monitoring, maintaining and providing the highest standards of clinical and personal support and service delivery, while promoting independence and choice to the people supported in the service.  You will support the Service Manager to manage and ensure the delivery of the service’s key quality and safety priorities by holding delegated responsibility in key areas of the day-to-day running of the residential activity/service. You will also have delegated responsibility for the direct supervision and line management of a team of support workers. As a senior member of the team, you will promote and lead good practice at all times, doing all you can to make sure that the people we support and their colleagues come to no harm and that the people we support are satisfied with the level of support they receive by acting as an exemplary role model.

As a Deputy Service Manager, flexibility is important for both you and for the service.  You will be required to do on-call shifts during out of office hours. You will be expected to work 20% of your total weekly hours on shift across your assigned services and will be able to role model all aspects of a support worker role duties and responsibilities. Following your time on shift, and in general practice at all other times, you will have responsibility for reporting back to the Service Manager and for maintaining a continual dialogue loop of feedback that focuses on quality, and continuous improvement and learning and ensuring the smooth operation of the allocated group of services.

A full UK driving licence, with access to your own vehicle, is essential for the role.

About you

• You will have significant, recent experience at a front-line management level in field of learning disabilities in regulated services which may have included being a Registered Manager

• You will have knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to adults with learning disabilities, CQC regulations and Health and Safety issues.

• You need good IT skills and experience of maintaining records to be a success in this role.

• You need to hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care or hold a level 3 diploma and be willing to undertake this level 5 apprenticeship qualification within an agreed reasonable timescale of 18 months as part of a development plan

• You will have the ability to lead and manage people and be a role model in all aspects of people leadership especially performance
